I don't know about you guys, but I'm really excited about what will happen on the Clair Performance Hall stage this evening!! What she had to contend with over the past 2 years, with such a dysfunctional family, a car wreck and a broken back, and dealing with her mental condition, and, on top of that, dealing with Covid and the lack of concert experience, would have brought a normal person to their knees!! How she takes the stage and her stage presence, and how she banters with the audience, will tell us a lot about what will come next! Hopefully, she has kept her voice in tip-top shape and will have no issues with high notes or forgetting lyrics!! rlhamil - Please give us a comprehensive review and set list (If possible!!), including a comparison of her voice today as compared to when you saw her last! Question!! If she accepts requests, what would you have her sing??
For me, it would be "All I Ask Of You"!!

Yeah, it's pretty exciting. I too am very curious how Jackie looks and performs. I'd probably request Nella Fantasia or Nessun Dorma. A set list would be awesome to see if possible.

Jackie mentioned that a lot of family members will be in attendance, it will be interesting to see which members actually show up. Hmmm, I wonder if Lisa and her significant other attends. 🤔

As of 4:00 PM, Dec. 17, 2021, 491 tickets sold or 77.57%. To look out over an almost sold out house, this should be a confidence builder!
As of 6:30 PM, Dec. 15, 2021, 429 tickets sold or 67.77%. This will be a good turnout for her come-back concert!

Concert Review:
Jackie's voice was stronger tonight than I've heard before in concert. Her nerves got to her a few times, but nothing significant, flubbed a word here or there and she either smiled or on one occasion, her eyes got wide but only for spilt second, than right back on track. Also, her timing seemed to be a bit off on a few songs, but I could be wrong. Jackie did hit some amazing high notes that blew me away on a few songs, especially The Prayer, Somewhere and Believe. Best I've heard to date.
Jackie was beautiful but thinner than I've seen her. She appeared healthy and had a bright engaging smile. She moved about the stage and was very animated during her songs. Jackie thanked everyone for attending her first concert back, "two years is too long" she said. Jackie said it was nice that her first concert back was a Christmas Concert, and that she was nervous, but that's just human. She was also more emotional during some of the song introductions than I've witnessed before. During the intro to How Great Thou Art, Jackie seemed to choke back a tear and her voice broke slightly. Jackie also thanked her little sister Rachel for being there for moral support. I saw Mike a few times on the side of the stage, but not Rachel.
Jackie's first dress was a beautiful a maroon velvet off the shoulder evening gown, but was a bit clingy. The second set dress was a translucent white full length dress, with a low cut front. Beneath she was appeared to wearing a dark yellow jumper. I didn't care for it, but my wife loved it.
My only complaint was the house mix was too loud throughout the show, and during a few songs, Somewhere especially, the backing track was much too loud drowning out Jackie's voice. Reverb was a little much on a few songs also.
Set list: 1. Silver Bells 2. Christmas Waltz 3. I'll be Home for Christmas 4. Phantom of the Opera Melody - Music of the Night - Point of no Return - All I want from you 5. River 6. She Used to be Mine 7. Merry Christmas Darling 8. The Prayer - Christmas Song Instrumental Interlude 9. The Christmas Song 10. How Great Thou Art
Intermission
11. Misty 12. Silent Night 13. Burn 14. Believe 15. Once Upon a December 16. Somewhere - Another Christmas and Wizard of the Oz Instrumental Interlude 17. Somewhere Over the Rainbow 18. White Christmas 19. The Impossible Dream (Dedicated to her fans; Final Song) 20. O Mio Babbino Caro/Nessun Dorma Mashup (Encore 1) 21. Oh Holy Night (Encore 2)

Sounds like Jackie did very well, esp. considering being gone from the stage for almost two years. I'm glad she seemed healthy, albeit a little skinny.

Concur completely with rick158's review. Jackie did look thin, most noticeably her left arm (functional but maybe switching hands less with the mic) and shoulders, suggesting she's still underweight and might be slowly recovering from having been even more underweight in the silent year; but otherwise it didn't seem to affect her stamina, mobility or ability. She mentioned in the 1st half that she was moving carefully because the (dark red) dress hadn't been hemmed, and she was almost stepping on it, and did seem a bit more comfortable in the other dress in the 2nd half. Certainly she did seem (and say so) glad to be back and that she was back for a Christmas concert. Following the Oz instrumental, she talked briefly to Jorn Swart (still her pianist and music director) - and began Somewhere Over the Rainbow without the less-well-known intro (which she has sometimes included in the past, given that it was the only part she'd done on the Oprah farewell show); not sure if she was tired (didn't show in the later songs, she was strong to the end!) or if it was running long, or if it just seemed to her to flow better without it. She did mention that "River" was the newest song she'd done, crediting the inspiration of Joni Mitchell's original. And indeed, the set list was identical to the last Christmas concert she'd done (December 15, 2019) except that "River" replaced "I'm Not That Girl" and "The Prayer" was added. (I was too absorbed watching and listening to take good notes, so I checked the old set lists, suspecting that might be the case.) Other accompanists were drummer and ONE violin and cello - pretty sure they were people Jorn has worked with before, as staying with his vigorous instrumentals wasn't a problem for them. Before White Christmas, she mentioned she hadn't had one in a few years and that it was a heat wave (60's). But on I think Oh Holy Night, they did let loose a bit of fake snow just over her. :-) Jackie has always been strong on Christmas concerts, since they allow a mix of Christmas and (esp. in places like Pennsylvania or Ohio well received) inspirational or religious songs, a bit of what she's currently promoting (still The Debut except for the addition of "River"), and medleys of what she's long been known for. Assuming Fred Mollin's recent silence is not due to some crisis, the logic follows that the next concerts (in March) may well start promoting the new album - and assuming Jackie feels ok returning (IMO likely because being on stage seems to be her adrenalin rush), more concerts to follow will be announced in the next month or two.

My only complaint was the house mix was too loud throughout the show, and during a few songs, Somewhere especially, the backing track was much too loud drowning out Jackie's voice. Reverb was a little much on a few songs also. Where were you sitting? I was in B 118 (2nd row center section but only about half a dozen seats from the left edge of the section), and to me it seemed less out of balance, with the accompaniment almost having to crank up to match Jackie at least once. Not sure that there was much reverb, I suspect they were using more amplification than they needed given that she's far more powerful now than when she was younger, so strong input plus strong amplification in small venue equals being just below feedback. Plus even if they ran through a representative sample of low and high volume level songs in rehearsal, the acoustics of an empty hall and a full one are different, so it's hard to get right for performance when it's the first time in that hall with audience for that performer. If they did multiple nights at the same location, I'd expect that problems noted one night would be fixed the next. Jorn is as good on the piano as Kiesewalter (Awakening and Two Hearts) was if slightly differently so (both could really tear into it in their instrumental segments), and seems a bit more relaxed with the multitasking of also cueing the other accompanists, controlling the backing track timing, etc.

Question: How was the audience? Old, young, mixed, die hard Jackie fans, new fans. Where there stnadining ovations?

There are already some stupid negative comments on Facebook about this picture. This picture should not be up-to-date.
