The relevance is quite simple. You can love Jackie's singing, but not always like some of the songs that she sings. Just seems to me that some of her most OTT fans have a hard time dealing with that. You Wish. Dream on cer. NONE of Jackie's fans care one way or the other about what you OVER THE TOP individuals think about anything. So says the guy who just responded to me. SO, you obviously care what I post. lol Take a deep breath and go for a very long walk because it might do you some good.

And the relevance of that would be...? Am I the only one on this forum that can tell the big difference in her voice on DB compared with the other songs she recorded in the same time frame? When I first heard DB I thought for sure she was younger. And I would like to ask DF whose idea was it for her to sound like a trumpet or did she do that subconsciously or maybe even her "angel" helped her. After all, I've seen where she says she asks God to sing with her or that an angel comes. And she also claimed to be a very truthful girl. There is no denying the trumpet like timbre to her voice in DB. Doesn't bother me one bit if she never sings it again for whatever reason. There's hardly ever any relevance in what cer and several others here say. This is a site for those who lost their soap box when the Amazon swamp closed their discussion forum. None of the Jackie Fan Site would allow their constant irrelevant rants, so Rick gave them a home where they can belittle Jackie, her family, and her talent and accomplishments. There are those here that can hear and appreciate the many facets of Jackie's voice and her amazing control of it. DF is always very demanding, and he was with Danny Boy, but I believe it was, as always, Jackie's gift of being able to be one with the music that makes her Danny Boy a Masterpiece, and instinctively matched her timbre with the trumpet, for the greatest effect on the listener. Thank you for your response! That's what I had originally thought when I joined the forum. That others could hear what I heard. And I agree, Jackie probably instinctively matched her timbre without being coached. Just like she seems to match her voice and vibrato with whoever she is duetting with. I also think it's perfectly normal for "geniuses" to be dissatisfied with their "masterpieces" because they have higher expectations of what they produced. This was made evident to me in Jackie when she would say in interviews that she didn't sound that good to herself while others were heaping praises on her. I think because people talk so much about her voice, that her sense of hearing gets overlooked. It's not that she can't hear herself like we hear her; it's that she, an admitted perfectionist, can hear in her mind what to her is the perfect sound. So she can be perfectly honest when she says she's not "there" yet. What I was not expecting were the comments like "gushing", "mediocre song", "---aweful trumpet". I probably don't have as good a sense of hearing as Jackie. But I know it's better than average. I'm kind of surprised that "they" let slide the Attesa recording with it's pitch discrepancy at the end btween the strings and Jackie's B5. Either "they" didn't hear it or they figured the general population wouldn't notice. There have been studies on people's perception of pitch and interestingly, classical musicians scored higher than contemporary ones. I am grateful that my dad was a highly skilled musician and that I grew up listening to his classical albums which also included the MT Choir. So now I feel sorry for those that can't experience what I do. It would be like me describing the various hues and shades of flowers in a glorious bouquet to a color-blind person. I still enjoy Attesa, in spite of that minor flaw at the end where one or more of the strings go flat. Because, Jackie's B5 is breathtakingly perfect!

This is not meant for you, rob49, but to others who might take umbrage at what I wrote above.
Please indulge me and go listen to the ending of Attesa. If you can't hear the flatness in the strings, then I rest my case. Lol!
Edit to add the video.

Haha! Before taking the hearing test, you might want to close your eyes so you're not distracted by that siren trying to seduce you!

I do not hound anyone, nor could anyone do more so than you do. I only respond. Gato has repeatedly shown his bias in his attacks against me, which would be fine if he was doing so as just another member of the forum. But as a 'moderator' he needs to be completely impartial and fair minded.

Takes me back to the time she used her arms to 'self-conduct' herself. She used her arms very much in the early years to enhance the emotion that was so special about her performances.

What did you answer NO to? He is being fair minded, and here's a friendly reminder to you, he's a moderator and you aren't... :-) That is your unjustifiable opinion. And I had stated he is a member of the admin.

I have seen that blog so will not revisit it. Not to put words in your mouth, but I think you misunderstood me. My wife says that I confuse people with my style of writing. I don't conscientiously critique music when I'm listening, but I also don't ignore major flaws when my ears pick them up. Take that MT Choir version of DB. First few times I heard it, they brought me to tears. Then after I got over the initial rush, I noticed this pain in my ears. The guy playing the penny whistle was way too loud (too close to Mike or sound engineer screwed up) and it was physically causing me pain. So I don't enjoy it as much anymore. Then I noticed that choir was not together on their c and t on last "come to me". If you have ever sung in a choir, you know that's a big no no, lol. Especially for a normally top notch choir like MTC. Let me illustrate what I was trying to say and I hope I don't cross any boundaries. You can Google the fact that some people can experience an O.... without touch. I'm not one of those, haha! Nor am I interested in trying, lol! But, I can experience a lesser degree of intense pleasure when listening to certain music. I don't seek it. It just comes to me at unexpected circumstances. IOW, I'm not a casual listener nor do I listen to music with the idea that I'm going to critique it. My list of Danny Boy covers on YouTube was an exception and I realized my folly soon after I started, lol! I did learn something from it, though. Does my rambling make an sense? Jackie's DB touched me and I felt like I had to share that. I did. Now I'm done. What I don't understand is all the squashing of my passion like I had committed some crime, lol? I get that from my S.O. sigh🙄

I didn't say your post. I said the post from the guy that wrote the post in the link. Dr. Mercury. The only reason I posted the link was to say you are not alone with your excellent ear. A flat string doesn't bother some. My mention of critique was to say I do not critique.
No squashing either. Your passion is contagious. The only squash I do is batter sliced squash with corn meal and fry it.

I was stopped at a Love's for fuel and mandatory 30 minute break when I wrote that last post. After I got on the road, I realized I had left out a very important adjective. Intense (NONSEXUAL) pleasure. Haha! I thought, "Oh no, now I'm really going to be raked over the coals." Anyway, thanks for clearing that up for me. Your kind words mean a lot to me.
