Amazon says my CD is expected to ship today and will arrive Thursday, but I've gotten no email notification of shipment. TRICK OR TREAT! I feel doubly "tricked" somewhat like yourself - At least I got a shipping notification Friday or Saturday telling me mine had shipped and is SUPPOSED to arrive today. The TROUBLE with that is that I was in my local Walmart Saturday so decided "just for grins" to look for it there. Lo and Behold - there it was! So now I feel doubly SCREWED: not only could I have gotten it for $11 - 12 dollars (with NO postage), I could have it NOW instead of wondering whether it'll show up today or not. This brings me to another unfortunate topic: The slovenly way Jackie has been merchandised lately. WHY did I order from Amazon in the first place? As I mentioned before in at least one forum (either here or at CC UK) my best local/regional source for media has gone under, leaving ONLY Walmart; their selection of both CD's and DVD's has likewise shrunk drastically due to the proliferation of "downloads" from various sources, leaving me to wonder whether SAC would be available at all. So my surprise at finding it was even greater, although I found a whopping TWO copies of it! (This is in a town of 15,000 in semi-rural Texas where if it's not C-W or Salsa crap it's unlikely to sell.) Instead of being on the endcap with other new releases, SAC was buried alongside all the other CD's, vaguely in alphabetical order by artist. Naturally, I MOVED them to the endcap where they belonged, alongside the other Christmas new releases. To return to the merchandising situation, from the all-too-usual-lately lackluster "promotion" of this, I totally expected SAC to ONLY be available through Amazon or some other limited source. Had it been PROPERLY promoted that uncertainty would likely have been reduced to only deciding WHERE and WHEN to purchase it, not whether I'd be able to find it at all. As I've noted before, although I'm REALLY glad to have a "new" release of a commercial CD by Jackie and not just some download I couldn't do anyway, I'd also like for it to be properly promoted and marketed!

Lucky for me I read jamesn's post tonight, as I was thinking about ordering the CD from Amazon myself. After reading jamesn's comments, I went over to my local WalMart, and sure enough there it was - $11.97. Saved me from having to order it!
I have to agree about the poor merchandising and "promoting". Wish I knew what was going on.

Incidentally - I found my copy in the correct place, in the "endcap" with the other Christmas releases. But as James says - you need to look around.

jamesn, nice work moving Jackie' s CDs to a more fitting location. I did the same with Jackie' s Christmas CDs last year at B&N. One of the first posts I ever read at the old PB forum was by Sean, aka jackieonlyfan, then known as jackieandbuffyfan, who moved around different artists' CDs at Walmart so that Jackie's section would move from the bottom row to the top row, then took a picture of it. I approve of such guerrilla tactics in the name of good taste.

jamesn,
Does your copy have the "bad" version of Hallelujah?
I might stop in at WM on the way home from work this morning (around 3:00am) and see what they have.

Amazon shipped my CD today. They say I will have it Thursday. I'm anxious to see if it has the chipmunk song or if they fixed it. I don't think they've had enough time to fix it.

jamesn, Does your copy have the "bad" version of Hallelujah? I might stop in at WM on the way home from work this morning (around 3:00am) and see what they have. It arrived yesterday (a treat instead of another trick) so I'll somewhat answer your question. So far, I've only had time to listen to half of it, so haven't heard the likely offending Hallelujah yet. However, I DO like it better than the bonus disc from Walmart that provides the basis for this album. I thought that was nice, but somehow too much of the same; SAC spaces those selections out with the duets which give it added punch. I've only heard it once, but do NOT like the title track at all - it doesn't even sound like Jackie, either in style or song selection. Don't get me wrong - It's good; it's just not Jackie. (Too pop-like, I suppose.) On the other hand, The Little Drummer Boy is probably my very least favorite excuse for a Christmas carol or song, but Jackie's solo rendition (I haven't gotten to the duet yet) even makes me like it! That's probably due to the building and pounding rhythm which is usually absent and makes it just drone on and on in other recordings.

I know a lot of fans are upset about the CD version of Someday at Christmas (SAC). To expect different pressings on the same “master” by different lots during the production of the CD is not realistic.
My thanks to those fans who originally pointed out the tonal imperfections in the recording of ‘Hallelujah” before I had made the CD copies I use in the car and by my desk. Since I had not purchased the Peter Hollens song, I went to iTunes and purchased a copy of "Hallelujah" from their album of "Someday at Christmas". I was surprised to find that they downloaded an AAC version of the song with Peter Hollens as the artist and “featuring Jackie Evancho” in the labeling. Rather than fight the issue, it cost me the price of a candy bar and I replaced the original "Hallelujah" with Peter H copy and now I have a set of songs by Jackie that I can enjoy rather than being irritated.
As usual , I am enjoying this latest offering by Jackie.

I didn't make it to WM last night, perhaps tonight. This is my Friday so I don't have to rush home and fall in bed to get ready for another 12-hour shift.

Sony has posted that if you are unhappy with the chipmunk Hallelujah, and you want a replacement CD, you must provide proof of purchase, and they will send you a new corrected CD. I don't know how to provide proof of purchase because I purchased on Amazon and they don't send sales receipts. www.sonymusicmasterworks.com/jackie-evancho-someday-christmas-now/

This is what I did to request a replacement CD: "I have Foxit Reader and all I did was go to Amazon, clicked on the Someday At Christmas order, clicked on Invoice under the Order #, when the Invoice page came up, clicked on "Print this page for your records.", in the Printer Name, choose Foxit Reader PDF Printer from the dropdown and clicked OK, from the next box choose a file name and download location and clicked Save. Then went to the Sony link: www.sonymusicmasterworks.com/jackie-evancho-someday-christmas-now/and copied the email address: info@sonymusicmasterworks.com and the line that says: "If you are unhappy with the CD you purchased, Sony Music Masterworks will send you a replacement disc. Please send proof of purchase via email or mail, along with your name, address and phone number to the address below." Went to my email client, copied the email address into To:, put "Replacement of defective Jackie Evancho Someday At Christmas" in Subject:, copied the "If you are unhappy" line into the body along with my name, address and telephone #, attached the PDF file then clicked Send. A few minutes later, I received; "Thank you for reaching out about Jackie Evancho’s new album "Someday At Christmas" that you purchased. If you have not already done so, please send proof of purchase of the album (your receipt), along with your name, address and phone number to this email and we will get you a replacement disc within 10-14 business days of receiving that information. Thank you for your business. Best, Sony Music Masterworks Product Development Department 25 Madison Avenue, 19th floor New York, NY 10010" We'll see what happens in 10-14 days.
