Wayne, That's a wonderful review. I can surely identify with your experience having purchased disappointing 33s. What I really appreciate about Jackie's albums is that they have been, since the first, totally gratifying to me--not one disappointment. Some songs are not as appealing as most, but for me listening to Jackie sing anything is gratifying just because of the extraordinary beauty of her voice.

Having listened to Have You Ever Been In Love many times, I just realized what it is about that song, Jackie's intimate interpretation not withstanding, that moves me so much. It's A Capella. Just Jackie speaking musically in a most tender and innocent way with just percussion and effects but no instrumentation that supports the melody. I'm continually discovering something new about her astonishing talent.
SAFE AND SOUND and WRITINGS ON THE WALL are also done basically A Capella. just percussion, background effects and Jackie's exquisite multi-layered harmonies. She is a genius-with perfect pitch.

RE: Record Sales. I got mine, I'm happy. Now we need another 1M happy people.
If you want a Gold / Platinum one look what happened 'back then'.
# 1 OHN came out. Went on Oprah. She said this is the music I want to listen to this Christmas. I'm going to preorder today. BAM 1M sales in a couple days. (Not really)
# 2 DWM David Foster production, 12,000 people in Vegas, Still phenom. On and on.
I am certain one day something will come that will be the new Oprah/David.

Some songs are not as appealing as most, but for me listening to Jackie sing anything is gratifying just because of the extraordinary beauty of her voice. I remember buying live albums of favorite bands and one side would be almost entirely a drum solo. About a year later, you'd look at it and that part would still look new, after having been skipped over most of the time. I wonder what my Jackie albums would look like now if I had them on vinyl. I'm certain that the Music of the Night track would no longer look black and shiny.

I agree. This is a challenging time for her. Jackie has outgrown the prodigy and wants to shed the "angel" image as well. Both are a matter of maturing dignity and self-identity for her. It's just going to have to play out in accordance with her development as a maturing artist and a young adult along with her aspirations. And, we can only be understanding and patient. Meanwhile, We can hope that her concert schedule will increase her popularity and thereby improve album sales. Personally I feel fortunate, because I thoroughly enjoy Two Hearts as much as her other albums, maybe more because of its diversity. It demonstrates very well Jackie's extraordinary versatility and interpretive genius. I am astonished at her uncanny ability to adapt her voice to creating the character of a song in any genre. For example: The classical soaring of May It Be, the genuine, plaintive sincerity of Mamma, the romantic, smooth golden clarity of her lower register in The Way We Were, the breathy tenderness and innocence in her voice in Have You Ever Been In Love (that one moves me the most), and the multi-layered harmonies of Safe And Sound. I know of no other artist who has shown that ability. Let's just hang in there with her and enjoy what we have. She's a tenacious and determined young lady and she will somehow pursue her "dream" to it's ultimate realization. In a way, we older folks are having more difficulty with it than she is, probably, because we'd like to see that happen a little sooner. Maybe the best post I've read on this site in a long time. You are a very perceptive listener and describer of the way Jackie changes her emotions when she sings. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this post. Thank you so much for bringing out the emotions I feel listening to her. I have to say though that if she wan't to shed her "angel" reputation she has to stop singing all the overtly religious songs she's fond of. I don't hear very many pop singers who sing TLP or HGTA, either in concert or on their recordings. Leave the g-d songs to the Country singers is what I would advise her to do. When I first played Two Hearts I wasn't impressed with the pop songs Jackie wrote but now, after at least five playings in my car(I have a very good Boston Acoustic sound system), I have grown very fond of the album. I thought 'May It Be' was going to be to much in her Mezzo range, but I was pleasantly surprised she went up into her Soprano range quite a bit. I think her arranger may have transposed it up a bit. I loved 'Mama' and when I saw it in the menu I knew she would bring me to tears and she did. 'Have You Ever Been In Love' is a very special song that I fell in love with the first time I heard it. Several songs like 'Safe And Sound' she has sung many times before and should not have been on the album. For the CC songs, two just didn't cut it, especially 'Caruso'. It's a favorite of mine but I didn't hear the power and emotion from Jackie like Lara Fabian brings to it. I did like 'Attesa' though. There are many CC songs out there she can sing. She can go through Brightman's discography and find hundreds. I've been a fan ever since I clicked on a little girl in a red dress on AGT in 2011 and I will always be her fan.

Very nice by ken , there are but 3 comments on this , one by me asking if it would go Gold ? ken replies "" it has the potential "", we all know ken is a positive thinker and knows music but Two Hearts is no longer on the top 200 on billboard , so where did he go so wrong ? are people hearing what some big Jackie fans are ? , are the masses of people just not aware of her voice as a singer , i must admit i thought it would sell about 100,000 to 150,000 so i was incorrect also , as one said something is fishy here or not logical unless other things then her voice or music is at play which is very possible even if fans do not want to think it .there is a reason for all things

WOWEIISS !! talk about a HIGH PEDESTAL she want down from but not to fear with her " interpretive genius " and " extraordinary versatility " she perhaps will live her dream
