I wondered why the YouTube of Jackie's version of Both Sides Now was provided by "The Orchard Enterprises". Here's the answer: www.facebook.com/melodyplacemusic/photos/a.860089007665447/1429727650701577/(The Orchard is a Sony operation, that provides distribution for among others, independent labels and artists.) So presumably it's not a random release at all, but part of intentional (if so far modest) publicity.

fredmollin.com/news.htm?fbclid=IwAR3EPeLGKQMt8eIz2ComwF-zRB-EUDHLcHpfzsXUi-93FI7VUVXbB5jLTI0My work with the label I created, Melody Place, is now officially over, with my final MP project being the soon-to-be-released album by Jackie Evancho, "CAROUSEL OF TIME". This is a beautiful record that I did last year, featuring the brilliance of Jackie Evancho as she interprets the greatest songs of Joni Mitchell. The delay in the release was not something that I had planned, but I'm delighted that it's coming out for the end of the summer and there are advance tracks on digital platforms now. I hope you love it as much as I do.

Melody Place Music has been functioning since it was founded by Fred Mollin, Jackie's producer. Fred ended his own involvement with the completion of Jackie's album, while the label continues with executive producer, Leigh Shockey in charge, apparently. The write-up on Jackie as a new artist on the roster at Melody Place that existed earlier is still there. Meanwhile, it's promoting her single. It recently released her newest single on YouTube, "A Case of You":

The single will be officially released on July 13th. hopefully without errors. I expect it will then be on the Amazon "New Releases in Folk Music" chart. We'll see how it does relative to BSN which was at #2 for some time. What do you mean, "without errors"? There were no errors on "River" or "Both Sides Now" that I'm aware of.

A case of you at sec 37 The arrangements for both sides now and a case of you are not good. mandy barnett and lisa mills got better arrangements from MPM.

If you don't like the arrangement for A Case of You, you'll have to live with it because it is done and has been on YouTube just short of a week. Here are the only comments on "A Case of You" so far regarding the arrangement. There are far too many comments on the "Both Sides Now" video to search for those about the arrangement (975), but having read them all, I don't recall any complaints. A Case of You (no complaints) "Such a smooth, soaring voice, just made for ballads. The arrangement carefully avoids "stepping on" her notes. She's why we listen." "Wow. Honky-tonk piano, rolling Hammond organ and Jackie's voice. Sounds fine to me." "This particular release has a country flavor, not surprising, coming from Sound Stage Studios in Nashville."

Melody Place is not anything but a "big" label. Miniature would be more like it.
There is Jackie, Mandy Barnett and Lisa Mills.
Mandy is well known around Nashville and has made over 500 appearances on the Grand Ole Opry and is an official member. Her two albums released by Melody Place (A Nashville Songbook and Every Star Above) had mostly so-so commercial success, probably due to poor promotion and lack of significant placement in the charts (mostly none except for iTunes under Jazz for Every Star Above). On Spotify, Mandy's number 1 song (But Beautiful) has 767,427 plays. With 8 albums and lots of other materials published, Mandy has only 4 songs with 100,000 or more plays. Not exactly blowing the commercial doors off.
Lisa is an American soul, gospel, and blues singer. She is so small that the only Wikipedia entry she has is in the German Wikipedia. Nothing in the American Wikipedia. Even with singles and 5 published albums on Spotify, her number 1 song (Everybody Loves a Winner) has only 66,221 plays. Lisa has two albums published by Melody Place, The Triangle and The Triangle (Expanded Edition), the latter essentially the first album with some more material. Not exactly barnburners.
Jackie is hands-down the number 1 artist on the Melody Place label. Jackie probably has, or should have, among the better royalty share contracts that Indie labels give (that would be 50-50 share).
Without Jackie's prior International exposure and general success, Jackie's new album probably would not have a snow ball's chance in hell of any significant commercial success.
Although not the greatest of topics to have articles written about you, Jackie's clout was good enough to have many articles published about her battle with anorexia.
Hopefully enough Jackie fans still exist, and Jackie can call on some past connections to get exposure, and thus some success with her next Joni Mitchell songs cover album.
Time will tell.

This just in from CelebrityAccess:
"Along with Hartlin, Melody Place is fast at work on a new project of original music from multi-platinum selling Jackie Evancho. The music, produced by Greg Camp (Smashmouth), is a new sound for the classically known singer. The songs are autobiographical about her dealings with mental illness."
