It's too bad that there are not a lot of stations playing her music regularly.

"WMCO plays all types of music, with a concentration on newly released, non-mainstream music." (Wikipedia, but also WMCO's self-description)
During semesters, they call themselves "Eclectic Radio". :-)

Recent comment on Jackie's Youtube video of "River". C Lvor 14 Stunden (bearbeitet)
Excerpt from American Songwriter article: ‘When I first heard this song, I was immediately struck by the sadness of losing your love during a time of the year when you need them the most,” Evancho remarks. “I was introduced to the world of Joni Mitchel and it led me to many more incredible songs in her repertoire. The beauty of this song has profoundly touched me.” Jackie records music that is meaningful to her, that touches her in some personal way, evidenced by her selections on The Debut, making each song her own. That's what one must realize to appreciate that she is not trying to copy anyone or demonstrate her vocal prowess necessarily, but rather tapping into the ethos of the song and conveying what she feels through the lyrics. It may not challenge her vocally, as some would like, but there are plenty of examples of very challenging songs in her repertoire, and there will be more most assuredly in her new album expected to be released "early 2021". Not everything has to be a grand demonstration of power and range, which seem to be the criteria for many today. Those days of the folk ballads are treasured, and 20 year old Jackie finds them special and an inspiration. That's rare. And few young artists, if any, can cover a folk song today with the authentic sentiment Jackie is bringing to Joni Mitchell's "River".

I created this thread for all future songs with this label. I hope you all agree with it.
yellowstone2014; I believe the posts that originally announced Jackie's signing with the new label should also be placed inside this thread! I did a search for Melody Place and found these: What think you?

Willyiam, on principle you are right. But for me, it only makes sense if it would be in chronicle order. I don't know, if this would even be possible. But anyway, since I'm not an administrator, I can't do it anyway. I would let it be, how it is.

I think, the presence of Jackie on radio stations is not bad.

It has nothing to do with Melody Place Music, but I didn't know where to place the link. I decided to put it here.

I looked up and listened to the only two singers Melody Place signed for recording before Jackie, i.e. Mandy Barnett and Lisa Millis. Mandy, for instance, has been around the Nashville scene since 1994 and whose schtick then as now is as Patsy Cline's vocal and visual doppelganger. In fact, she played Cline 500 times in a two person review in Nashville back in the 90s. I'm very reluctant to call them has-beens whose careers Melody Place is trying to goose or help resurrect. But .... Has Jackie become one of those? I don't know. But I do know I'm only mildly interested in listening occasionally to Mandy Barnett because she covers Patsy Cline's iconic songs better than most anyone else. Yet will I among tens of thousands of others become one her diehard fans after listening and watching her recent revival thanks to Melody Place? I don't think so. I fear no matter what songs or high level of their performance the singer typecast and promoted indelibly for years as "the world's youngest opera singer" pulls off with Melody Place's help, she will not be able to override or overcome her incomprehensible and suicidal career decision to totally disappear for nearly a year from the music scene ...... no matter what compelling reason she may give when she reappears. I hope I'm wrong; but pretty sure I'm not.

I hope I'm wrong; but pretty sure I'm not. I don't think her disappearance is what has her career in trouble...although it was a bad move professionally obviously. Her career has been in a slow, steady death spiral for years. This doesn't help, but even without her disappearance it was in trouble as her fan base dies off. Melody Place isn't where you go to reprise your career...I think we can agree on that. Jackie joins a long list of child stars who were unable to translate that same level of success to adulthood. Fortunately, it appears she can still draw large enough audiences to make traveling and doing concerts worthwhile. It's a living eh? lol
