Have any of these people guessing who Kitty is actually gone to YouTube to hear what their guesses sound like singing? Some of the guesses...I've gone and and listened to them, sound absolutely nothing like Kitty.

Of course many haven't, but just pulled a name out of someplace or jumped on a bandwagon. There are those who say that if you're thoroughly familiar with what real currency (or whatever) is like, you don't need to be shown the ways in which counterfeits fail, to tell the difference.

What do you bet, Jackie came home with one after that totally awesome concert performance in St. Petersburg. A 12 yo Catholic kid from Pittsburg confidently wowing an audience of prox. 100k that just couldn't get enough of her. Just jaw-dropping awesome. I'm kind of amazed she hasn't been back there for another one. That was in 2012. In 2014, Russia annexed Crimea (technically for the 2nd time; Imperial Russia annexed it in 1783; it had been independent briefly before that, earlier under Ottoman control, etc; the USSR transferred it to the Ukrainian SSR (Ukraine itself having on and off again been an actual entity; the history is complicated and there are no 100% white or black hats). Anyway, since 2014, and given Jackie's part Ukrainian ancestry (not to mention Putin not being much less totalitarian than all but the worst of the Soviet leaders), a reasonable person might suppose that it wouldn't be appropriate for her to perform again in Russia, at least until matters are somehow normalized between Ukraine and Russia. edit: most of the genuine Fabergé eggs were procured by the last two Tsars; lesser Rings of Power, er, eggs , were procured by other figures. Stalin sold a bunch of them for foreign exchange currency, etc. 57 survive, of those 46 were Imperial eggs. There are likely some decent quality replicas or eggs in a similar style available, but the real ones are crazy expensive (millions), and even a clone made using only precious metals and stones could be high five digits or more. The Imperial eggs also opened up and had an additional elaborate item inside.

Thanks for that. Very interesting. I remain curious as to why she was invited to perform there (St. Petersburg) in the first place. Does anybody know? Due to David Foster's connections? Given the Holodomor and Ukraine's at least wishful thinking that it could remain independent of first Bolshevik and later Soviet control, its relationship with mother Russia has been a strained one, to put it euphemistically, for a very long time. "Complicated", for sure. When we lived for a short time in Springfield, MA, there was a wonderful Russian tea house we used to frequent. They had a collection of exquisite Faberge eggs on display, replicas of course, but beautiful to behold.

There was an "International Economic Forum" held there, perhaps largely for the countries formerly part of the Soviet Union. Three singers were chosen, from different countries of origin; given that the performance was titled "Bouquet of Opera", clearly all three had to be known for singing arias - the other two were famous actual opera singers (which Jackie isn't, of course). Why Jackie was chosen from the US, I have no idea, although with full Sony promo back then (even if DF wasn't directly in the picture anymore, since he was only the producer for DWM/DWMIC), it's not that improbable; but unless I forgot, the details of what contacts were involved were a mystery. The late Dmitri Hvorostovsky was skeptical when Jackie was being considered, but quite polite in person. Jackie and Sumi Jo have occasionally exchanged friendly tweets since then. Some of us watched it live via a nearby hotel webcam (sound too, but poor) that I tracked down. Someone (I forgot who) in the audience got handheld phone cam video of Jackie's songs; I have a copy of those. From all accounts, it was cold and windy. A fan from Latvia (Ivars Lapiņš) was working the event in a support function, and met Jackie.

Here she is, the tiny "White Russian" performing an exquisite rendition of O Mio Babbino Caro. I still get chills of excitement and awe watching and listening to this, despite the poor quality of the video. Jaw dropping awesome. All of her performance there remains online today.

I actually watched Wednesday night's performances on Masked Singer and enjoyed all the foolishness. Of course this was introducing the third group of singers, so no appearance by "Kitty"; but the reveal at the end (Sarah Palin, of all people!) shows that virtually anybody might be hiding under one of the disguises.

What about the green-haired Rapunzel? Has anyone made a Jackie connection to that yet? It seems it could be Juliette, but why the green hair?
Rapunzel said "She may have the voice of an angel, but ..." I think for most of us here, that's all the clues we need to hear to know it's Jackie.
This is the most fun we've had here in a long time. If it turns out not to be her, it will be such a major bummer!

George Dunham
Of coarse it sounds like Jackie and the clues fit but the real give away is her right foot , which they try to keep hidden with smoke and costume.
Jackie's right foot has aways toed in from the first time we saw her on AGT. That is one of the many things that makes Jackie , Jackie.
William Simonson Back when I first started watching, I talked to Mom Lisa. She admitted that Jackie's right foot turns in when she is excited. That was when she was 12. And it continues.

Ever since she started singing she has used her right leg and foot turned in for balance and support. I hope she doesn't have problems with her hip and leg when she retires 60 or more years from now.

Jackie was invited by the government of Russia. This almost certainly was the result of Jackie appearing at the Prayer Breakfast in Feb. of 2012 where Jackie sang at the age of 11. President Obama and family, including the girls, had met Jackie at the Christmas Tree lighting in late 2010 and apparently were fans. The annual Prayer Breakfast, which included an evening dinner, is held for the foreign country ambassadorial contingents and US government dignitaries such as House and Senate leaders. The Russian delegation was there, probably with their ambassador in attendance. Jackie at that age was stunning and transcendent to watch. David Foster had nothing to do with it. President Obama may have. The Russians obviously knew that with her Ukrainian/Russian surname, Jackie and her family had Russian/Ukrainian ancestry and was a natural for their entertainment for the people of St. Petersburg and forum attendees. Russians absolutely love and revere children. They also are huge opera fans. This was before Russia and the west had their falling out. The St. Petersburg Economic Forum is a world forum held annually in hometown of Premier Vladimir Putin. I doubt that either Dmitri H. and Sumi Jo had ever heard of Jackie. Dmitri was at that time the greatest opera star in Russia and Sumi Jo is a famous South Korean Coloratura Soprano. The story was that Dmitri may have initially been offended that an unknown kid was to appear with them representing opera. He knew American opera star Renee Fleming and probably expected someone of that stature to appear. The preliminary meeting to decide what songs would be sung by whom apparently did not go particularly well. I don't know who represented Jackie but it may have been the guest conductor, an American lady from Minneapolis who was with their opera musicians or something equivalent. Apparently it was explained that Jackie knew she was not an opera singer and was honored to appear with them and the whole family was coming as invited by the Russian government. Once Jackie arrived a day or two before and Dmitri met and rehearsed with her, he was very polite and apparently impressed as he was effusive in praising her in numerous TV interviews. Dmitri had two adult children from his first marriage and two young ones from a second. The show was held June 25, 2012 on a windy and very chilly day about 55-57 F. Jackie was a hit with the Russian people and media and was given the nickname in Russian of "the divine child". The videos show the reactions including the Russian musicians who are world class and probably are not easily impressed. Incidentally, this appearance was about 4 weeks after Jackie was badly cut on the front of the lower right leg while playing something like paintball (I don't remember the exact game name. edit: the name of the game was Airsoft) with then Jake. She apparently caught her leg on something such as sharp metal stake like a tent post. Lisa had to take her to the ER where a plastic surgeon sewed it up with 100 stitches over something like 3 hours. Lisa said Jackie did not cry. She posted a photo of Jackie with the sewed up leg cut on the old forum. It was absolutely ugly and horrifying to see and looked like a giant zipper from below the knee to near the ankle. A picture copy apparently is no longer public on the internet. She went to Toronto about two days later for an appearance, perhaps a David Foster charity appearance. As a side note, Dmitri died in 2017 from a cancerous brain tumor in London probably caused by him being an alcoholic years earlier. Heavy alcohol drinking apparently is a significant factor resulting in cancer. To conclude, afterwards Lisa was asked "How was the trip over?" Her reply was classic Lisa and was something to the effect: The trip was hell with all 4 kids acting like wild Indians.

As I recall, Jackie had an appearance at a Guess event the very next day after the leg injury. In such respects, she's pretty tough.

Thanks for that info. I thought Jackie had gone to Toronto the next day but I wasn't sure and never knew why. Lisa, probably in the old Forum when Jackie was about 11, said something like: "Jackie is one tough cookie. She is a very determined and patient young lady". Those are great qualities to have in life along with a great sense of humor and fun, which Jackie also appears to have in abundance.
Incidentally, Jackie's family ancestry is far more complicated than just saying she is of Ukrainian/Russian descent. Years ago, I got really curious about this after Lisa cracked something to the effect that the Evancho side of the family, especially paternal grandmother Linda (Kapples) Evancho's, was a mess. I spent time to investigate online years ago before a lot was made private or a fee was charged. I am kind of a history and geography fan but even so I was kind of amazed. You have to understand that this area of Europe was incredibly unstable and country boundaries were constantly changing depending on which power overran what area and when.
Lisa's side appears simple as her dad Ken Brand is apparently mostly German and her mother Mary Caporale is apparently Italian with her family from Calabria in the boot of Italy. Jackie has stated she is 1/4 Italian. I know nothing about the great grandparents.
All of Jackie's great grandparents on her dad's side immigrated to the US in the late 1800's and early 1900's before WW1. Her recently deceased great grandfather Joseph's parent's were listed from Ukraine but his father's parents were noted as Russian. They apparently lived close to the Ukraine border with other current countries such as Slovakia and Poland. Joseph's wife Betty (Figulski) Evancho was Polish as were her parents.
Jackie's grandmother Linda (Kapples) Evancho is the fun one. Her parent's were Albert Kapples and Marie Catherine Poyma. Albert's parents were Janos Kapolka (Slovak) and Julianna Kotan (Hungarian). Marie's parent's were Joseph Poyma (Slovak) and Anna Karce (Polish). Marie is the great grandmother of Jackie for whom the song "How Great Thou Art" is dedicated to.
Once I got this info and looked at maps from that time, a pattern of where they all were from emerged that startled me. All of Jackie's paternal great great grandparents were from areas about a maximum of 150 miles apart no matter what country they were from. Furthermore, this contiguous area had been a country a couple of short time periods and whether a country or area was known mainly as Galicia (and Ruthenia in parts of present day Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine)). The inhabitants were an ethnic group called Carpatho-Ruthenians, Carpatho-Rusyns, Rusyns, Rus and others. Many spoke Rusyn or Rus. Rus is where the words Russia and Belarus come from. It is a separate distinct language with most of the few speakers now in Slovakia where part of the Carpathian mountain range is located. This is considered to be Eastern Slavic. The capital of Slovakia is Bratislava. The typical religion in this area was Byzantine (Greek) Catholic which basically is Eastern Orthodox that is under Rome and the Pope and not the classic Eastern (Greek) Orthodox like Russia and much of Ukraine farther east toward Russia. I think some versions in the US are referred to as the Uniate Church. At least two of Jackie's great great grandparents were buried in these church cemeteries in the Pittsburgh area. The Slovakian area had coal mines and iron ore and also made steel and iron. Hundreds of thousands of people from this area emigrated to the US and Pittsburgh and PA to work in mines and steel mills. US Steel of Pittsburgh now owns the large integrated steel mill in Slovakia.
I do not have all my records with me and I'm certainly not an expert so this is my interpretation of what I discovered based on very limited information. I don't claim any great accuracy. To me this was fascinating and educational showing country of origin does not necessarily pinpoint ancestry as we might think. Based on country, Jackie's dad Mike is 3/8 Polish, 1/4 Ukrainian, 1/4 Slovak, and 1/8 Hungarian. Jackie's paternal grandfather William or Bill is 1/2 Ukrainian/Russian and 1/2 Polish. Bill's wife Linda (Jackie's paternal grandmother) is 1/2 Slovak, 1/4 Polish and 1/4 Hungarian. Jackie, based on all ancestry by country, is 1/4 Italian, 1/4 German, 3/16 Polish/ 1/8 Ukrainian/Russian, 1/8 Slovak and 1/16 Hungarian. Yet if the ancestry is mostly Carpatho-Ruthenian this changes the overall picture for them all. The Hungarian ancestor is perhaps a wild card yet Hungary is just south of Slovakia. The family knows she spoke Hungarian. There could be some Jewish ancestry noting it is central Europe and the age. Jackie, if you go back far enough, could be close to 50% Carpatho-Ruthenian, a relatively rare ancestry and 1/4 Italian and 1/4 German. I think it's time for some DNA testing. Ha, Ha.
I doubt if few people or anyone on this forum care about this but I did the work so I thought it should be noted somewhere. If Rick can do this, it could be copied or moved to the Jackie Family category. This was all public information from the web. Accuracy is not guaranteed but I think the generalities are reasonable assumptions.
