She did sing at one of the inauguration galas that evening. I'm a little confused about that. When was the "70th Annual Horatio Alger Awards" thing, with D. Foster? It's definitely not the same place as the pre-inauguration dinner, at the DC union station, the night PREVIOUS to the inauguration. I was under the impression that she had to head for Tyler, Texas immediately after the inauguration.
Yes, she went to Texas immediately after the inauguration. And yes, she sang at one of the galas the night before the inauguration. I thought the night with DFos (Horatio Alger pic) was more recently, when she was in DC Mar 30-31, but could be wrong about that.

Yes, I have the Horatio Alger performance with Foster down as March 30th, same day as the ABC7 Good Morning Washington appearance. This was the only announcement when it happened: Don

I always say, anytime you can sing a song and the cymbals clash and you still tower over them, well done.
Two more things. Dear ole dad bringing the birthday candles, I saw no cake, as she was singing the last note on ND. Totally bad timing. There isn't room for anything else but that note in the universe.
Also, where's security? I saw this old dude trying to attack our sweeet Jackie with what looked like a birthday card. The outrage. The body guard goons should have body slammed him to the ground. Hey C. this is a LOL. I said something silly and I am aware it is silly now you know it is silly.
Lastly, the last line of the Citiview review - being able to experience perfection in close proximity. WOW (In largest cap)

I am too lazy to look through this thread for the original post, but someone posted that they wanted to go to the Café Carlyle but could not buy a single ticket. Was that ever resolved?

On one of the reviews it gave a link to "Ticket Web" that sells the tickets for the Carlyle and other venues. Last night, there seemed plenty available, particularly mid-week.

He may have been working for the venue and was handing her a card from them. I'm willing to bet that anyone else would not have gotten anywhere near her (read: bouncers). After all, the Pope was a bouncer before he switched careers. Don't jump to conclusions. I don't think the Carlyle needs bouncers considering the age of the audience. Jackie had her family birthday a day or two ago. She put it on Twitter or Instagram, but the card might well have been from the venue.

So the path to true success is getting thrown in jail? Dude, it's about the music. There is certainly truth in that Jackie is singing about a lot of subjects which she does not know about through personal experience. I personally feel that despite that she comes off well. Her voice more than makes up for her lack of experience. I don't think that she has to experience everything to sing about it, although it does help.

"Evancho offers us a clear view of herself at this point in her career: a Snapchat of the artist as a young woman, if you will. She has already conquered her instrument (often the more difficult task), which leaves the part that usually comes easier for most singers: She needs to actually go out and experience the subjects about which she sings. She needs to make a mess, get in trouble, and be utterly, unapologetically selfish for a while. Once she does that, we look forward to hearing her revisit these songs, perhaps in 10 years. That's when her singing will cease to be merely pretty, and will become profoundly beautiful. "
Very interesting and insightful comment from probably the least-favorable (but not really hostile) review so far.

I like this comments though or because they are not all positive. Firstly they acknowledge Jackie`s extreme good voice and the controlling of them. This are the necessarrily basis. A child, having this, is praised and put on a pedestal. But now the critics take Jackie serious as an new artist. And there the critics want more. They look for deepness in the interpretation and mooving the listeners not only by the famous voice but by the truth of the sung stuff. So they "critizice" (nothing other is possible) that Jackie cannot know the stuff she sing (like the critisism singing "O Mio Babbino Caro" by a child) and so she cannot transfer it pure to the listeners. The critics are fair to say Jackie cannot have this and has to go ten years throu a valley of tears to sound more true with the textes she sings. Nobody wants her to suffer but for an artist it may be neccessary (if someone wants to sing sad stuff). With her break up she started already with this. As the song "Pedestal" shows she just begin to show her inner truth. And she seems to like more true critisisms then new pedestals. This is the difference between child and adult. So I`m glad for this critisisms that are not only praising but treating her as an adult serious artist with great potential but just a long way to go. My beloved YUI only sang her own songs partly with own sad stuff and she effected absolutly true all other than the normal japanese pop. Her voice and pitch were not perfect but she brought the listeners to tears by effecting absolutly true. So I`m looking forward to hear Jackie`s own songs (just havn`t, Tuesday I`ll get the CDs), it`s a new age. May be Jackie goes to pop to have the chance to express herself by own songs instead of singing only the songs of others. We have to think new.
