Maybe it's just me, but I find it odd that Jackie's first, much ballyhooed, official, recorded foray into the POP world, Apocalypse, is missing from her latest concert's set lists. The song that you are hit with as soon as you arrive at jackieevancho.com/, is somehow not good enough to be part of the latest set lists. Maybe it will be included in subsequent concerts, but I just find it's early omission somewhat strange.

I was surprised Jackie did not include it at Milwaukee, but figured maybe due to the ethnic slant to the concert may have precluded it. I was also surprised when it was not included in the Foster Gala or the three most recent concerts. I am puzzled by it's absence, but the inclusion of Writings on the Wall and Safe and Sound. I heard it live at Morristown in April and was pleased with her presentation, although she did seem to take her a bit through the first verse getting her voice out of Classical Mode and into Pop mode. Makes me wonder if she thought it was difficult and didn't want to chance any mistakes. I know that the audience liked it and as I recall she got many members of the audience, including me, on their feet.

It could be because the song had already been used on one of the Got Talent franchises, I think Hungary's( ), so it wasn't truly original/not recorded previously. Maybe they felt misled by Peter Z & don't want to sing his song. That's just pure speculation/WAG, BTW. I could be all wrong about it.

I hope it's not because she is disappointed with its performance in the marketplace.
That was a strange thing that came to light, about the other version. Was it ever determined if Peter Z owns both versions? The words appear to be entirely different; not just an English translation.

Schrodinger, did you see a translation somewhere? Were there subtitles I missed? Or do you actually speak the language??

I google-translated the title, which had nothing to do with apocalypse, and listened to it a couple of times, and the word apocalypse in the other language was not in it. (Apocalypse, being a Greek word, is similar in many languages) Nor did the word "crazy" or anything like it, seem to occur where it does in the English song. Sorry, I don't remember what the other title was now, or the singer's name, or for sure that it was Hungarian. As I recall, I wasn't able to find the lyrics to translate the whole thing. Do you remember anything that would be searchable for it now?

Or maybe there are subtitles on one of the available YouTube versions now. I'm pretty sure they use Latin letters, in which case you could type them directly into Google Translate. Even Cyrillic letters could be typed in with a word processor.

Here are two Hungarian versions from 2013. The title translation is "New Path."

Oops, it was X-Factor, not Got Talent. I stand corrected. At least I got the Hungarian part right.
It really does sound like completely different words. Where did they come from? Who wrote them?

I Google-translated several comments on the Danics Dóra version. They seemed to mostly be insulting each other like a bunch of Amzn posters...

Thanks, Rick, for finding that; I found the lyrics. They give the title as A New Road.
Google translation:
It was a fight, struggle, some weak wing beat And there was a feeling that the change in me is Because alien life you live, it is doubtful soul Why is it that stuck to my word Do I know how to run my way?
But you see, life is still reversible If you expect if you ask, can all return When you marry a desire can be very brave to go Not looking in vain for a miracle Today you, who embraces the world
A new road, it is a new road Which will take you to heaven, which lasts forever This is the moment when they need to believe Arabian melodies sits in my heart What is now soar, and waiting for me A new road
This was my dream, I do not need anything else Sunlight in a comprehensive way a long awaited departure In my heart no longer fight I grew up here, look at me
Music should take you to another journey To shine the light when I get to the finish
You'll be there to hug when I'm scared
A new road, a wonderful new road Which will take you to heaven, which lasts forever
A new road
Which will take you to heaven, which lasts forever
This is the moment when they need to believe Arabian melodies sits in my heart What is now soar, and waiting for me
A new road
This is the moment when they need to believe Arabian melodies sits in my heart What is now soar, and waiting for me A new road
Lyrics from this site: www.zeneszoveg.hu/dalszoveg/87348/danics-dora/uj-ut-zeneszoveg.html They seem to want you to register before they'll tell you who wrote it:

Maybe they felt misled by Peter Z & don't want to sing his song. That's just pure speculation/WAG, BTW. I could be all wrong about it. Yeah, all we can do is speculate about how this came about. None of us know. However, I really doubt that one day Jackie said, "Hey, Mom! I'd really like to sing this song from X-Factor Hungary. I think my fans would really like it. We just need some English lyrics and we're good to go". No, they hired a songwriter to work up a song for Jackie and it turned out to be a retread. Were there original songs written *for* Jackie, but Apocalypse was preferred? Who knows? It seems to me that a songwriter would relish the opportunity to write a fresh song, knowing that Jackie's amazing voice would sing it. I know a couple of fans who love Apocalypse and find it moving. Me, I thought it was catchy at first, but I quickly tired of it. I have listened to both WOTW and Safe and Sound recently, but not listened to Apocalypse since shortly after its release. WOTW I'll frequently repeat. I think it's one of Jackie's best. Reminds me of Streisand. I'm looking forward to hearing it in concert. Apocalypse, I don't care if she sings it. Though, I'm sure to enjoy it while it's being sung. My opinion: Stop trying to make Jackie popular with young people. It's likely not going to happen. I can see where they might be disheartened by seeing so many gray-haired folks in the audience and wishing instead to see a lot of young hipsters; but it is what it is. I think by any criteria I would be considered a big fan of Jackie. But I can't picture myself being a fan of Jackie or any singer like her before the age of forty. I enjoy seeing younger people be fans of Jackie, but that is limited for the most part to young people who are in choir, glee, orchestra, etc. The young masses won't be interested until they are older. Besides, there is something to be said for having as one's fan base Baby Boomers, who are the last generation with decent pensions and nest eggs.

Uj Ut must be kind of a Thing in Hungary, for it to be sung by different contestants in 2013 and 2014. I'm tempted to become a member, or whatever they want, on that site despite the language barrier, to find out who they credit it to.

I still can't find anything about who authored the song. Ah! The composer isn't listed on this website. Just the lyrics. That's dumb.

Schrodinger, Thanks for finding those lyrics. As I recall, others found Peter Zizzo's name as the composer of the music in YouTube documentation. The lyrics seem quite different, but perhaps are semi-related, at least in referring to the end of a relationship. I'm reminded a bit of the different translations of Mack the Knife - Wiki has several versions.
I agree that it's weird that Peter Z just gave Jackie a retread. Why not an entirely new song? Or at least change the arrangement to make it sound different... And did he apparently mislead Team E by not telling them about the Hungarian X-Factor?
I still like Apoc, but of all her "new pop" songs, AOTS is probably the prettiest one with the best melody. JMHO!
