This topic was previously posted under Other Artists which has been deleted. It consists of 36 comparisons to date which I had kept filed for reference. I will periodically re-post these comparisons (plus a "Christmas Season" section of 7 comparisons), one at a time, in the same order they were originally posted. Unfortunately, replies and additions from other members were lost. Comments and contributions are welcomed.
Opening statement: It's interesting to discover that many of Jackie's interpretations are significantly different from the original, while some are remarkably similar, consideration given of course to the differences in age and the genres. Also, in some instances it may be surprizing to learn who the original artists are.
1. "Caruso" was written and recorded by Lucio Dalla in 1986. The song was covered by Luciano Pavarotti in 1990, Julio Iglesias in 1994, Florent Pagny in 1996, Andrea Bocelli in 1996, Lara Fabian in 2000, Russian singer, Vitas in 2002, Alfie Boe in 2007,and Jordan Rudess in 2020.
Dedicated to the Italian tenor, Enrico Caruso, "the song simply tells about the pain and longings of a man who is about to die while he is looking into the eyes of a girl who was very dear to him. The lyrics contain various subtle references to people and places in Caruso's life".
Lucio Dalla: Italian singer/songwriter, and composer of the song (lyrics translated in English).

4. "Attesa": The original is an intermezzo (an instrumental, not an aria) written by Pietro Mascagni for the opera Cavalleria Rusticana (1890). "Instrumental intermezzi are connecting pieces between acts of operas". It was first recorded with lyrics by Sarah Brightman in 2008.
