I don't know who originally comes up with the idea for virtual duets, but it's probably the artists labels, especially when they're with the same label. The artist whose album it's on surly has the right to refuse, especially someone of Domingo's stature. There was also a duet with Susan Boyle on one of Domingo's albums, they were both with the same label. On his Christmas album, Pie Jesu was the duet with Jackie. There was another one, Guardian Angels, with Idina Menzel. Later, that same duet was used on Jackie's Someday at Christmas (as a bonus track), but they replaced Idina with Jackie. Amazing how they can do that!! I doubt that was his idea although surly he would have approved. And it's just like the Jackie/Susan duet was done. I doubt very much that it was Jackie's idea. As I remember from the discussion at the time, Both Menzel and Jackie were recorded for possible inclusion on Domingo's album. since the whole idea was to feature duets with as many partners, Menzel's was chosen for Guardian Angels, leaving Jackie's Pie Jesu duet. Supposedly Domingo actually preferred Jackie's rendition of Guardian Angels though.

The advertising copy under Jackie's picture on the promotional material for the APA Brunch seems to indicate that at least the working title for the new album is "The Debut."
With her upcoming album “The Debut”, multi-platinum recording artist Jackie Evancho will match her extraordinary voice with one of the most exiting reemerging genres in popular music today: the New American Songbook, inspired by the great tradition of Broadway musicals. Jackie’s show includes a selection of songs from Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, Waitress, The Band’s Visit, Once, Spring Awakening and hit films like The Greatest Showman in addition to gems and classic songs from her past repertoire that have come to win audiences over through the years.
There is plenty of information to form the basis for speculation on which songs she has selected for the album. Any guesses?

Any guesses? Hello igor, I noticed that as well, but with skepticism because, to my knowledge, Jackie has not confirmed the album title. Jackie has not made a statement that the album is titled "The New American Songbook". Or, I've missed it. Sometimes "information" released from venues, interviewers or articles may be premature, mistaken or based upon assumption. Edit: The paragraph quoted in your post was posted Oct. 9 by Willyiam on the Morristown, NJ thread. The words "The Debut" were then ...."and world tour', multi-platinum recording artist Jackie Evancho....". jackieevanchofans.proboards.com/post/31324It might mean that this event will be "the debut" of her songs from the new album. Anyway, I'm waiting for Jackie to announce her album title.

Jackie hasn't eaten the mic in a long time. She holds it about 6-8 inches from her mouth now. I have seen her live. You would know, Rick. Glad to hear it, because it is an advance Jackie had to make.

You can see in recent clips of Janeckova and even a much younger Amira, who are going on with classical training. They will eventually wind up with greater range and volume than Jackie who still has to eat the mic, but when younger never achieved an adult sound, because they weren't attempting it. Hi Julia. I well remember the first video of P Janeckova that I saw/heard. She was onstage competing with three or four other girls her age. Patricia vocalized (no lyrics, as is my understanding of vocalize) Once Upon A Time In The West. Her voice was lush, warm and rich. You could just sense the other girls thinking; "Well ladies, we're in a contest for second place." Patricia pursued operatic training which was her stated goal even then. A couple of years later I heard her again after she had progressed in her training. Her voice had lost it's warm richness. It was flinty hard and somewhat shrill or perhaps reedy to my ears. The comments were uniformly enthusiastic. She was advancing in her chosen field of classic opera. That was her goal from the first. I prefer the warmth of her earlier less trained voice. She is said to have a great operatic career ahead of her if she continues working hard. I also remember Amira W at Hollands Got Talent. She won that season. She couldn't get within a foot of her intended notes. She was no Jackie when it came to pitch. But she was a nice kid. She donated her prize money to playgrounds in S. Africa. Her debut CD rocketed to #1 in Holland. I felt the kid was being promoted beyond her talent. About a year ago I heard a video from her. It was lovely. She hit the notes as composed. A fantastic improvement. She has had operatic voice training. It hasn't shrilled her voice as happened to Patricia J. Amira also said she wishes to pursue an opera career. I can easily see her being successful in opera. She is a sturdily built Dutch girl who was (maybe still is) a distance runner. This will serve her well in her chosen field. Good luck to Amira. She does seem to be progressing nicely. These two young people seem to have diverged in the results of their training, PJ lost her vocal warmth, becoming flinty but operatic. Amira became able to sing a note on pitch and seems to have acquired warmth. They are both European girls who chose European classical training. They both are doing well. Neither has the sheer vocal beauty of Jackie which is what Jackie has always striven for, and is what so enamors this American blue collar guy.

Supposedly Domingo actually preferred Jackie's rendition of Guardian Angels though. How about that! I have something in common with Domingo.

Bel Canto was mentioned a bit earlier in several posts regarding Jackie's preferred, or natural style. I'm quite certain Jackie never thought to herself "I'm going to develop a Bel Canto technique."
She just saw a beautiful woman singing beautifully in Phantom of the Opera and decided to sing like that. The difference between Jackie and a million other little girls is Jackie could pull it off flawlessly.

I'm quite certain Jackie never thought to herself "I'm going to develop a Bel Canto technique." An excerpt from "Beyond Opera: the incredible Voice of Jackie Evancho". by DLDEPREZ "Unfortunately, operatic parochialism trumps operatic education and makes critics unable to understand why Jackie Evancho regularly makes musical sophisticates and non-sophisticates alike tear up when she sings. The ancient Greeks, when exposed to the oratory of the Sophists, would say, ‘How well they speak.’ But when Demosthenes spoke, they would say, ‘Let us march on Sparta.'... How then does Jackie Evancho have the power to stun people? I’ve seen the following words in print used to describe the effect of her voice: spellbinding, enchanting, enrapturing, entrancing, euphoria-inducing, rhapsodic. Many report laughing and crying tears of joy at the same time. This experience, in my opinion, remediates “cognitive dissonance,” an inability to fathom what was once a common cultural currency in western entertainment for centuries, opera. Times have changed. Many Americans know what opera is but can’t seem to make much sense of it. The “recontextualized” or “crossover” sounds heard from Evancho, however, do make sense of the classical style of singing, wonderfully so. Her singing releases listeners from mystification with operatic sound. So pleasant, so familiar, it even has the power to cause ekstasis, (έκσταση), which literally means away from place, one’s mental place, meaning that one goes out of one’s mind when hearing Jackie sing. The place or state the listener is sent, into which she intends to send them, is a blissful one..."

Thanks yellowstone, I was always suspicious that "The New American Songbook" was speculation bases on unsubstantiated statements released from promotional posts some time ago. Maybe she changed it. I'm still waiting to hear directly from Jackie. I guess she'll announce the album at the concert.

"The Debut" for her first album might have been a tad more appropriate, but I still like the name for her new one.
