Jackie was not going to sing pop, so Ellen's producers could have agreed to let her sing her genre. Then Jackie would have had an appropriate boost and the show would have benefited. But, apparently they wanted what they wanted, period, which was for Jackie to compromise her art. Too bad. I think Lisa and Mike represented Jackie's dedication as a CC artist, with integrity. I agree with you that it would have been compromising her art, but it is ironic that she wants to sing pop now. Yes isn't it just...

One thing about Lisa's explanation doesn't completely ring true - This would've most likely been back in the pre-AGT days, which were also of course the PTAD days. There are several selections on PTAD that aren't strictly speaking "classical" or necessarily even CC. But post-AGT, when such an appearance might have been a possibility, Jackie's label seems to have wanted to keep her in the little girl does opera mode as much and as long as possible. Choosing who to keep happy, the label would tend to win. Yes good point and it could have been that way b/c Jackie didn't really have a name until after AGT. I would lean in this direction but it's still a shame that a compromise wasn't worked out. Sounds like feet dug in to me.

The compromise could have been, Jackie singing a pop song using her classical voice. Just seems so logical. Ah yes. Jackie, in her very best Montserrat Caballe voice singing You ain't nothing but a hound dog. ROFLOL!! Hey it's DAME Montserrat Caballe(I like @1:17 she looks down at her bounteous cleavage);

I want to say thank you to everyone who posted in this thread. I believe agog and Lawrence(my middle name)have solved this issue that has vexed me for years. I don't remember how many FB posts and tweets I sent to Ellen trying to get an answer with zero replies.
Funny how something like that burrows into your brain and you can't get it out until it's solved. Thank you all! :-)

Until I hear from the horses mouth as to the reason Jackie hasn't appeared on the Ellen show this issue remains unsolved.

Well jb, some things, such as DAME (*Hi Cat *) Montserrat Caballe's "bounteous cleavage" which I am often compelled to look down upon, can be appreciated without being understood. And at least you appreciate that it's "pure" speculation and not the tainted kind so often found in modern life.

Sorry Charlie, pure speculation on the reason for Jackie not getting the call. Until I hear from the horses mouth as to the reason Jackie hasn't appeared on the Ellen show this issue remains unsolved. I find it surprising that Jackie and Juliet weren't on Ellen when the Juliet thing was such a big deal, and while you're right, it is speculation, if the E's did turn down an invite in the past, that could explain why. And if that is the reason, and since Jackie wasn't invited during that time, I doubt that she ever will be. Luckily there's plenty of other shows for her to appear on.
