Toi et Moi-Lara Fabian/Dimitri Hvorostovsky;
One of the great ones is gone. I mourn his passing.

This is a wonderful and intimate duet performance. At 4:12 Luciano sings two phrases in one breath for 14 seconds. And, stevie acknowledges it with a smile.

Lara Fabian move over. Someone has sung 'Adagio' better than you; I have to disagree, for me Lara’s version is much better. Dimashi has an unbelievable range, and uses it in this song, but to me it gets screamy, almost squeaky and just isn’t pleasant to listen to. I am probably in the minority, but for the above-mentioned reasons, I honestly have a hard time listening to any of his songs to completion.

He is a sensationalist and showman, in this performance, more intent upon impressing the audience than conveying the song with genuine emotion, capitalizing on his range. Reminds me of Leona Lewis, who's appeal was to begin a song softly to draw you into a certain comfort, then at a dramatic point suddenly belt out a phrase to get the crowd into a frenzy. He does it very effectively, but from then on it's all power in the high range, forced and strained (screaming) to maintain the reaction. Lara sings powerfully as well, but with finesse and genuine emotion to present a song as a personal story. Her performance is natural and not staged.
One thing that makes Jackie so appealing to me, compared to almost everyone else, is the ease with which she performs in the high range. She can execute a big interval leap without having to visibly prepare for it and force it ( a natural range if you will) ; yet besides using falsetto purposely for affect, she can and will belt a note or phrase when she chooses to emphasize the emotion. Many people want sensationalism, impressed with power-singing, belting and dramatics. I liked Englebert Humperdink a lot. But, when I saw him in concert, I was surprised that he had to crouch to belt out a power note--very distracting. I prefer to be moved by the song, rather than impressed by the singer with showmanship dramatics. It's like poetry. It's the poem that touches me, not the reader. Jackie makes poetry when she sings, as does Lara.

His high notes are incredible. I'm extremely impressed.

Talk about incredible high notes. This is "Adagio" from the heart, a song of passionate longing. (no whistle register or theatrics needed). Written by Lara Fabian and released in 1999.

Until "Prometheus had finally broken his chains"..."stolen beauty from the Gods and poured it all on the little soul from Pittsburg"... and I heard that "splendid voice of the spheres", this is how I preferred to hear Nessun Dorma.

To me, the true music is primitive. It stirs the soul, it's "the heart beat"...it energizes, cleanses and unites...it is timeless and universal, not meant simply to be heard...It is felt.
