CLeonard: There must be an Urgent Care facility at most within an hour of your home, Rick. You will be treated without having to go to a hospital. Just google "Urgent Care" in your community or nearest community.

johnnyb: Rick you could be infected with toxoplasmosis from your cats.
Mar 20, 2019 9:49:40 GMT -5
johnnyb: people can be infected through contact with cat feces, the far more common way for someone to have contact with the parasite that causes toxoplasmosis is through unhygienic handling of raw or undercooked meat, drinking contaminated water-

johnnyb: and exposure to garden soil or sandboxes where infected cats may have defecated. People do not get the disease through direct contact with the cat himself.

rickolsen: I do not play with cat feces and my cats did not make me sick. That's crazy. I'm just glad they don't have what I have. They seem fine.

oatmealforme: Hi Rick, The best thing would be to see if you could move up your appointment with your doctor, because he knows you. Perhaps a little pleading with the doctor's office can get you in earlier. I am assuming that you have trust in your current doctor.

oatmealforme: But you are too young to have a visit from that friend. Now the pneumonia vaccine does not cover all strains; there are over 100, and I write this just in case you have not been vaccinated.

rickolsen: I got a flu vaccination and a pnuemonia vaccination. I think I just have a very bad cold. I'm going to Walmart in a few minutes to pick up a few things. We'll see how I feel. I want to get some milk and coffee.
Mar 20, 2019 13:53:30 GMT -5
oatmealforme: Good, the pneumonia vaccine is usually good for about 10 years and more strains have been added. Of course, the pneumonia vaccine is for bacterial infections of pneumococcus. With all of your coughing, it may take time to heal once your cold is gone.

CLeonard: Admin, I don't mean to seem presumptive, but there are a number of concert threads that could be moved to "Past Concerts" dating back to early January and the Capistrano concert of Sept. 14th.

ursus: I just noticed that the time being displayed on the top of the page, below the Jackie picture and to the right is Central Time, not Eastern. I couldn't find a place in my profile to change my time zone. Does anyone know?
Mar 20, 2019 20:49:45 GMT -5
oatmealforme: For me it has always been Eastern Time, but now it is Mid-Western, and I live in the West. Yes, I did notice it before your post.
Mar 20, 2019 21:06:31 GMT -5
Admin: I forgot to change the clock. It's fixed now.
Mar 20, 2019 23:17:48 GMT -5
ursus: I am surprised that the time zone isn't settable in one's profile. Thanks for updating it, Rick.

CLeonard: Question for the day: When someone says, "in my honest opinion...", should we expect that at other times it might be a dishonest one?
Mar 21, 2019 17:38:41 GMT -5
cer: IMHO is an old saying that goes back a long time, and all it means is that it's just his or her opinion. When members start questioning things like that, might be time to say the following... you have way too much free time on your hands.
Mar 21, 2019 18:26:20 GMT -5
gordie: The use of Honest in IMHO is totally useless as it cannot be proven to the contrary. The only person that knows whether their opinion is "honest" is themselves and unless you are not honest to yourself then you are not honest to anyone.
Mar 21, 2019 19:07:07 GMT -5
cer: In regards to the use of the following IMHO and/or IMO who cares if someone uses it!? However, seeing that some of you want to nitpick, I will happily drop using both IMO and IMHO.
