I don't remember ever watching much of any other previous inauguration ever, especially anthems and any other singing. Does anyone know if there has ever been anything to compare with the botched sound feeds on one or multiple networks that occurred to Jackie? They can't all have been lip synched where the ouput quality is a given. If it never happened before, why did it happen this year to Jackie? Well, that is the question isn't it. Maybe our major news people don't like the Republicans? Maybe they wanted to sabotage the inauguration? LOL. Well, that'd be easy enough to check. Just look back at GW Bush's inaugurations. I doubt they'd want to spoil the song, though, even if they didn't like the R's.

Was her entrance at 10:15 or 11:15? The video only showed the :15. Either way, she did not sing until 12:30 and had to be extremely cold. The umbrella was probably supplied for her by military staff...Trump was brought an umbrella while he was giving his speech. He never used his but Jackie did to keep her hair dry. The many different feeds of the SSB is very unfortunate as Jackie can do that piece in her sleep. I have downloaded about 6 different networks and none of them are the same. Too bad she did not use the recording she did at Heinz Field, which was spot on perfect. I think the USMC Band was not needed for her arrangement.Still love Jackie! I 100% agree!

Jackie has said on several occasions that she does not deal with politics or something similar because she is only 16. I do think, however, that she probably had a preference as to who should have won.
Now in no way am I similar to her. E.g., I am petrified when I speak before a small group let alone a live audience of hundreds of thousands and millions on TV. A quick calculation shows that I was the same age in days as Jackie is today on 10/18/64. That was shortly before the Johnson-Goldwater election and I definitely had an opinion on that election even though, because the voting age was 21, I was further removed than she is now from being able to vote. I do add that my opinion has changed since then as to whom I would have voted for back in 1964.

"I don't do politics." --Jackie Evancho Perhaps that will not preclude her from being appointed ambassador one day. Some believe she fulfills that vocation already....

And considering that GS served for YEARS as Bill Clinton's mouthpiece - for which for some reason NOBODY, including Trump, ever calls him out - if there was any way her performance could be used to further trash the event it certainly would have been. Do you have a grudge? He's been very nice to Jackie as TV host, several times. Agreed about his current relationship with Jackie - but YES, I DO have a grudge. It has to do with his position anchoring GMA and his Sunday morning political analysis show where he - like others in his same position - PRETEND to be giving "unbiased" news accounts. Because of HIM as well as Robin Roberts' lesbian agenda I will now only watch GMA on weekends when they're mercifully absent. Too bad, too, because I was for years a faithful member of their audience, but when the option of Charlie, Gail, and Nora came along on CBS I rapidly switched. (They *may* be as biased but at least they're not former members of anybody's administration!) I can only wonder if, since Hillary lost, George still got his "bonus" from the Clinton Foundation??? I will also observe that Obama's first press secretary (whose name I conveniently forget) has followed this SAME career path and is therefore also someone I conspicuously avoid.

I have a hard time believing that any of the media outlets deliberately sabotaged the National Anthem. Now if the President's mic cut out or had some other issues, that would be more plausible. I chock it up to inattentiveness or perhaps incompetence.

I wonder who supplied Jackie with the umbrella she had later. This video shows that she didn't bring one. Actually, my recollection was that most large gatherings and sporting events don't allow attendees to bring umbrellas. I was surprised to see the picture with her camped under one in the rain. They (someone) on the inauguration team must have been quite thoughtful and on the ball but I would also expect dad Mike to have suggested it to them under the circumstances beforehand. Unfortunately, reports from the Tyler, TX concert say she was coughing between songs so she must have caught a cold anyway. If so, I didn't notice it from 7 rows back. She talked between songs even more than usual, and although I could scarcely understand anything she said, I chalk that up more to my deteriorating hearing than to Jackie; fortunately, that didn't seem to affect enjoyment of the performance, however!

I don't know whether you're kidding or not, but it reminds me of that OTHER, earlier young star, Shirley Temple, who became U.S. ambassador to the U.N., then-Czechoslovakia, and one other nation. Unfortunately when she passed only three or four years ago, Obama conveniently "forgot" that and therefore failed any official mention of her passing, likely because she had committed the cardinal sin of being a lifelong Republican!

I wasn't kidding. Guess it would be best to forgive Mr. Obama for his lapse of memory. I would bet Shirley does.

I was all over the place at that age- at the time of that election, I had decided that Jesus was a communist, so I should be, too. Not too much later, I wrote an editorial for the school paper deploring with outrage, the halt for Christmas of the bombing of North Vietnam.

Another proof that the sound was quite normal.

I'm not sure it's your hearing, JamesN. Jackie talks too fast. On concert recordings, I can barely understand what she says. It might be because reverb is added to the mic she uses for singing. She really should learn to either talk slower, or switch mics. Back at Highmark (2009 Dec 17), she announced WYWSHA saying "...this song is wishingyouweresomehowhereagain" in a fraction of a second. It's a long-term problem, & she really should work on it. JMHO.

I actually don't watch any of them, preferring the radio so I can do other things & multitask, LOL. I remember thinking when George S left the Clinton administration for TV that his goal all along must have been to get on the tube; the Clinton gig was just a stepping stone. I really only know Robin Roberts from her time on ESPN some years ago, when her sexual orientation wasn't public IIRC.

"Slow down, you talk too fast, you got to make the morning last... " (apologies to Mr. Simon)

I was reading something just recently, maybe by Bob Woodward of Watergate fame, where GS was described as one of Bubba's chief advisors or something like that even before becoming his press secretary though I think they had some sort of falling out before leaving the White House. As for Robin, I suffered along with her through her breast cancer and subsequent masectomy, but finally got disgusted when she jumped on the same-sex marriage bandwagon along with weatherman Sam Champion and finally ditched them altogether.
