Is there any place where I may purchase the Solla EP as a CD? I'm not interested in the "digital download" thing.

But you can ask a friend to download Solla and copy it on a CD. OK, thanks. I was hoping to add yet another CD to my collection of "all things Jackie." The digital stuff is a bit off-putting for me, as I much enjoy having "physical" items when the subject is anything creative, such as music - and most certainly when it is anything from Jackie. Having her CDs (and an LP) is enjoyable because there's the cover art, the "inner jacket" material, and the photos. If you grew up collecting LP albums and 45's, then you understand from where I'm coming with this "nostalgia" thing. For those of us of the "older generation" (a cliche' phrase that I have some disdain for, but that's the reality) physical things are real and lasting, something to connect with - digital anything is sort of like trying to hold onto a puff of smoke.

For those of us of the "older generation" (a cliche' phrase that I have some disdain for, but that's the reality) physical things are real and lasting, something to connect with - digital anything is sort of like trying to hold onto a puff of smoke. Puff of smoke depends on how you get it and what you do with it. I can see that description for streaming, because it's either cluttered with advertising, or limited in what you can choose to stream, or only available as long as you maintain your subscription; and it's dependent on a periodic network connection (even if it caches encrypted copies with an expiration by next scheduled payment for limited offline play). But a paid download in a standard format (esp. an HD format as good quality as CD) isn't like that; you can play it whenever you want, on both present and future devices, burn an audio CD with whatever tracks you want, etc) You may not have all the content a jacket would have had (although it's possible, some album downloads can include a PDF of jacket-equivalent content), but there will at least be a cover image you can print and put in the CD case, if that's desired. ALL information is a puff of smoke over timespans longer than the media can last, and nobody carves audio on stone tablets . A burned CD can last a good fraction of a lifetime, even longer (about as long as a manufactured CD) using archival quality CD-R's, and you can always keep a spare relatively unhandled in good storage conditions. Mind you, I'm not unhappy to have some signed CD's :-) but that borders on collector items, and for me it's more about sentiment or significance than collecting.

Mind you, I'm not unhappy to have some signed CD's :-) but that borders on collector items, and for me it's more about sentiment or significance than collecting. In my collection there are albums (LPs) and 45s over 60 years old
I have a Technics SL-J33 turntable (Quartz Linear-tracking, direct drive, with dual pick-up elliptical diamond stylus), which I purchased in 1987 - and it still runs well. In fact, I was playing Jackie's LP "Awakening" just this past weekend - the sound quality was quite good
Since my portable CD player is beginning to bite the dust, I plan on purchasing a "rack set-up" player in the not-too-distant future: Have my sights on a Yamaha CD-S303, which has a USB port on its front panel for digital inputs, and standard analog jack plugs on the back panel; but at $379 (Amazon) it's a bit pricey. Yes, I'm a bit of an audiophile nerd
So, if I purchase a "download" of Solla, and save it to a data stick (Cruzer Glide 64GB), I can transfer it on CD, just as soon as I buy a burner - or plug the data stick into the Yamaha CD-S303. I still prefer the days when we had LPs!

STATS:According to a poster at the Haters and Spam Club: Spotify streaming totals for BME update ... On 4/15, BME totals were: BME 2.0 18,000+ BME 57,000+ Combined 75,000+ On 4/27, BME 2.0 42,000+ BME 57,000+ Combined 99,000+ On 4/29, BME 2.0 54,000+ BME 2.0 58,000+ Combined 112,000+ On 5/1, BME 2.0 61,000+ BME 58,000+ Combined 119,000+ On 5/7, BME 2.0 78,000+ BME 59,000+ Combined 137,000+ On 5/13, BME 2.0 93,000+ BME 59,000+ Combined 152,000+
The increase in streams seems to still be steady. BME 2.0 has been added to another Spotify playlist (Relaxing Songs). I would also note the difference in monthly Spotify listeners. Although monthly listeners are not a determining factor as a whole, they do give a good snapshot. As a rule, you would expect to have an increase in monthly listeners with a new release, a steady position with a small lag in releases, and a drop with an extended lag in releases. It makes sense since the new releases is what gets the playlists, radio airplay, and draws in the casual fans.
With a new EP out, you would hope for some kind of spike with Jackie, and that appears to have happened. I will list the monthly listeners I have found posted on this board recently:
July 2023: 124,000
August 2023: 118,000
September 2023 117,000
March 2024 105,000
April 2024 110,000
Current 138,000
That is a pretty significant increase relative to her position in March. It does make the point that getting out to meet people in the industry and get feedback (which MP has had Jackie doing) and getting some playlist exposure does really matter. This is pretty much what I thought would be realistic for a first release in a new genre where no one knew her and didn't care if they did. This does at least give her something to build on but it makes her next steps that much more important. I should also add that youtube said plays for BME 2.0 as of this post are at: What I think: A deluxe edition with new previously unreleased songs (along with the 6 Solla EP songs) on a physical cd release, would help her get a Billboard Chart Debut!

Yeah, that would be great! or if she could include "Solla" on her next album, like a two disc thing, would also help her to make a Billboard Chart.

Jackie's "Get Out Of My Life" Lyric video:
Here's what Jackie said, “I wrote ”Get Out Of My Life” at a point where I was growing more and more tired of being told what to do, how to look, what to say. I just let it all out in a song. Seeing it go from the very first version in my garage band app to this completed one is so fulfilling and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it."
