Many others have a different perception. I reserve my opinion until I've heard the album, to give a fair assessment of the "production". One's opinion of this "arrangement" is of course subjective. Just a few comments on her YouTube video: "So beautiful, Jackie! I love how you put your own personal touch on this classic". "Flawless and beautiful... Wow!" "Your Somewhere is so beautiful.. from start to finish.. breath-taking..." "Refreshing rendition of this beautiful song, for our new generation !!!!" "I'm at a loss for words to describe just how incredibly beautiful I think this is!!" "Oh yeah....the new Jackie is marvelous. A totally different take on this song and it definitely works." "When you first stopped the opera and went more pop I was disappointed at first but this new rendition of a Somewhere is magical" My guess is that those are some of her most devoted fans who would probably be praising any song that she sings. I agree with Julia's critique of that production and/or arrangement.... it's quite bad. CLeonard, looking forward to your honest opinion of that particular song.

I wish she had tried another song from the musical WICKED instead like " Defying Gravity." JE would have killed it!

Assuming that none of those YouTube comments were made by professional critics ( i.e real/true qualified critics) nor any of the negative posters here being true professional critics , my belief is that all opinions for and against carry equal weight. I therefore conclude that the "For Opinions" carry the subjective weight. Perhaps those with "IMO the arrangement of the songs needs to be reworked" need to rework their opinions so as not to appear to be noticeable like the soldier out of step in a Company formation.
IMO those that dislike the song arrangement should not buy the album in any available format as it would likely be a poor investment of their listening time. I'm sure there must be some (c)RAP stuff out there that could be more to your taste.

For your info Gordo, most albums have one or two songs that are worth buying(listening) to, the rest of the songs are considered filler material. Cer and I have given our honest opinions of what we think of two of the songs on the album and if you don't like it well you can kiss our proverbial.....................

It will be interesting to see what Jackie does in the original song category in the future. Linda Ronstadt sang only others songs and it caught up with her royalty wise.

This is an excerpt from Jackie's recent interview with the Chicago Tribune. I think it is a significant insight to her song choices for the album and creative involvement in its production.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She decided to make this album to celebrate the new music out now.
“I was kind of mesmerized by this whole new world of Broadway that’s coming out,” she said. “It’s incredibly popular and people that you would never expect to listen to Broadway — like the majority of high school students usually don’t — and suddenly they’re like, I love ‘Hamilton.’ It’s the strangest thing and it really mesmerized me. I would love to take this beautiful world and put my own twist to it. So that’s basically what I did.”
When putting together the tracks for the album, she did a lot of research.
“I narrowed it down to the more modern genre of Broadway that’s been out lately and then I researched the shows,” she said. “I went to the shows and watched the characters and picked out pivotal parts of the shows and I basically just researched my songs from my favorite moments of the show and decided to record those songs.”
She devoted so much of herself to this project that she can’t pick a favorite song, she said.
“For every single song, it was its own separate project,” she said. “This is the first album that you really get to see my creative side artistically when it comes to producing and arranging and stuff like that.
“I really listened to the songs and really listened to what they were saying. I decided to take those stories and make the music reflected to in a way that I personally would tell it.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This may answer the question, "Why has it taken so long for Jackie to get this album finished?" It has taken a lot of time for her to have attended all those musicals as part of her research and then apply her creativity to making each song her own with a personal "twist to it", which would involve a new and different arrangement.

Cl, we know Jackie had an arranger. It was that kid who put a video of himself up on Youtube, arranging her music for DEBUT on a computer. She certainly must have had the final word on it, since she was paying for it, but Jackie doesn't have the wide musical knowledge necessary to do her own arrangements. BTW, "Hamilton" was not popular because it had a great score, it was popular, because it was about a man of, possibly, mixed race being a founding father. It played into the liberal/socialist ethos of the entertainment community. Having said that, I agree that Jackie's performance of "I'm Not That Girl" is one of her more successful efforts to give a pop tinge to her voice on that album. Bet it is the lead single.

Do you presume she had no part in the conceptual aspect of the arrangements? How could she "put her own twist" to a song without having an idea herself of how it might be arranged? You seem loath to give Jackie credit for anything significant. "BTW, "Hamilton" was not popular because it had a great score..." Neither Jackie nor I said Hamilton was popular because "it had a great score", as you seem to imply. She was drawn to it because it was popular with teenagers and was inspired by the story and the characters, particularly Eliza who's song "resonated" with Jackie.

She needs to target this audience as much as possible moving forward.

Seriously??? ---- you and Cer claim to have given your "honest" opinions which means that at most other times it has been dishonest. Given that at most other times it has been "dishonest" how are we to know that "this" time you have both given your "honest" opinion? Give it up ---- an opinion is simply that ----- an unsubstantiated belief. You chose to believe that Jackie's song arrangement needs to be reworked. I chose to believe your opinion is worthless and guess what --- each of our opinions carry the same weight.

Uh oh! There's something seriously wrong with anyone who doesn't agree with the "Grand Poobah" that "Jackie's new album is garbage". Shut the front door! This forum is finished!
FYI: "Grand Poobah is a term derived from the name of the haughty character Pooh-Bah in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado (1885). In this comic opera, Pooh-Bah holds numerous exalted offices, including "First Lord of the Treasury, Lord Chief Justice, Commander-in-Chief, Lord High Admiral ... Archbishop ... Lord Mayor and Lord High Everything Else....". -Wikipedia
