It seems Irish songs touch Jackie deeply. She can barely contain her emotion at the end. Me either.
What a trooper!

She certainly did seem to be experiencing emotional problems. It was sad to watch but, as you said, she was a trooper. Beautiful. I hope she never lets this bother her.

I don't think I ever saw this video before. She certainly did seem to be experiencing emotional problems. It was sad to watch but, as you said, she was a trooper. Beautiful. I hope she never lets this bother her. There's a couple other versions of this on YT with the mistake edited out, but Jackie's mistakes are so rare as to be collectable! I'm glad Jackie or the Team chose to put this "straight" version on her channel. I saw in the comments an URL to another glitch caught in a video I hadn't seen: www.flickr.com/photos/bart00799/14373018403/www.flickr.com/photos/bart00799/14373018403/... but of course it's still exquisite. Happy to have seen another live performance NSB (never seen before) especially of this song, that always seemed to me to be one of those that are so right for her they could have been written especially for her. I like it when she has room on the stage to pace back and forth- her graceful glide adds to it somehow.

My all time favorite interview/performance Modest, adorable and...Oh, so expressive! Dedicated to Trebor CL A comment on this video on Youtube: Kopp203 4 month ago Maybe it's my Jackie bias, but she's done a few tracks that have basically ruined any other version for me. This is one of them. She seemed to be really feeling it when she gave this performance and I'm still amazed, years later, that this is her own interpretation of the song and not something she's mimicing, which is unfortunately the case sometimes with these child singing stars. They lack the emotional maturity and life experience to emote the lyrics in a believable way and instead have to belt them out parrot-fashion. She's an old soul for sure and a prodigy and there's something strange about her voice, a compelling quality that I have tried and failed to put my finger on. She's retained this special something as the years have gone by. I love her more mature sound now that she's older and she has a better set of lungs to blow air through those extraordinary pipes she's been gifted with. What was consistently uncanny about these early Jackie interviews and performances is the drastic contrast between her childish innocence and enthusiasm when talking to hosts and then literally the second she's in front of the mic, there's an almost supernatural transformation into what appears to be a seasoned, professional performer who loves what they do and wants to please the audience. From the vocal phrasing, to the almost adult expressions on her face, it's like watching someone that's been on the stage for decades. This kid understood the underlying message of the song and she beseeches the audience to help her make it happen. Another example: watch the Foster special she did, especially when they performed the, "Somewhere" Streisand duet. Then she finishes the songs and turns into a bubbly little girl again, bouncing with glee that she's pleased the listeners. It's amazing.

To me, this is one of the most compelling performances that shows how Jackie becomes "possessed" by the music and wholly absorbed in the song. The slight blurring gives a subtly luminous, ethereal effect.

Nobody could do it better then Jackie. She's amazing.

You remember too. I'ts the last note and word of the song, "...comfort Here.
Btw juxtaposer, You got it right also. It was the Carlyle venue in the photo of Jackie at the mic with the dark background with a hint of the wall painting behind Peter.

This is in reply to mbusby's quote and comment regarding the 2015 Denver concert, on my post in Videos Using Jackie's Music; I don't know how to quote directly from another thread; thought this went more appropriately here. It was indeed a snowy evening; I-25 was snowpacked. The venue offered "rainchecks" for ticketholders who couldn't make it. One of the guys at the gathering had driven from Nebraska in it, though. The gal in the above pic is my friend's daughter, who was also at the 2012 Denver concert, too: so she's grown up with Jackie. There's a YT video of her first song that night. There was a problem with the sound system at the beginning that sounded like the bass drummer suddenly decided to do a solo, but she soldiered on: This is one of my favorite stills from the concert, dramatic for a distant shot. Taken by someone else, we were in the 2nd row right in front of her. I have another video of the same song taken from closer to my position; I'll try to upload it.

Another gift from our little 12 year old Ambassador
"The Japanese, known for their adherence to cultural tradition, warmly embraced little Jackie. It is rare that an artist from another country is paid the honor of being requested to appear before the Emperor and Empress of Japan. There is not another vocalist in the world that could have so eloquently paid tribute to Royal Family as Jackie, by masterfully singing in their language." -Youtube comment.

Another treasure that may never be heard again from Jackie.
Jackie always enhances her duet partners, never upstages or overpowers. It's the music that is important to her and its best expression given with her compliment.
