I suggest a discussion relative to "Other Artists" having been deleted be entertained here or somewhere other than in the shoutbox. It could get lengthy and controversial, and comments could get lost in the shuffle as new comments are added.
With regard to the Other Artists being deleted, I did not "dictate" anything as Willyiam asserts. I responded to a comment Rick made on Jackie's Smoking Gun video that "Jackie's competition has never been promoted on my forum" when in fact it has been. Examples, Amira Willighagen, Angelica Hale, and more recently, Angelina Jordan (8 pages of updates, videos, promos and comments), Lucy Thomas, Giulia Falcone and Emma Kok. My reply was, "Apparently Other Artists doesn't exit, to which Admin replied, "I have deleted Other Artists. I forgot it was there."

I agree that Admin should have consulted members before deleting Other Artists. My thread, Jackie's Versions Compared to the Original with 36 comparison posts, was deleted along with everything else. We do disagree, respectfully, with regard to Other Artists having consisted of young female singers considered competition. Amira Willighagen, Angelica Hale threads had existed a long time, and there was opposition at the time by several members to that being an intention to promote them on this forum. But, despite dissent, Admin insisted that OA would remain. Then about Jan 2021, an Angelina Jordan thread was created and grew to 8 pages of updates, videos, promos and comment posted by geb alone. That to me indicates an agenda to promote AJ. Then followed threads dedicated to Lucy Thomas, Giulia Falcone and Emma Kok. My question is, why the adamant insistence upon promoting those artists on this forum? Are there not fan forums, fan sites, etc dedicated to promoting them? Jackie Evancho fan sites would not allow the promotion of other singers as they are being promoted here. From what I understand, the Amazon forum condones promoting other singers, so why must this forum do likewise? I'm not suggesting that posting content on those singers is "harmful" to Jackie". Her history and reputation speak for themselves. Posting once in a while is not objectionable. Rather, weekly and often more frequent is excessive and constitutes an apparent agenda, in my view, and I question the ethics of that. It had run amuck. The views on threads under Other Artists numbered in the 10s of thousands, which indicates a significant interest in those singers. I've coincidentally seen the view count immediately following a posting on AJ or Giulia Falcone as high as 14 at one time. Yes, it's my observation that guests do frequent this forum to see what's been posted on Other Artists. ........Thus, my question in the shoutbox, "Is this Jackie fan forum a platform for promoting Jackie's competition? Edit add.....4/6/244 @ 8pm......The Giulia Falcon thread you created under Subjects of Interest to Forum Members has already received 109 views, and the Emma Kok thread has received 49 views.

Because I like Jackie, Giulia, Emma, and Angelina, DOES NOT mean that I am promoting one over the others. And to me it is quite insulting, Lawrence, to say this after I had already had this discussion with you. As prior noted, I was one of the less than 100 fans who attended Jackie's last Boston concert held at the City Winery in downtown Boston close to TD Garden, the home of the Boston Celtics and the Boston Bruins. Many of these people were dedicated fans of Jackie that I had seen at other concerts around the country over the many years I have been following Jackie. I believe I had posted some of the pictures I had taken of Jackie performing that night.
In my opinion, you are so hung-up on promoting Jackie that you appear to want to exclude any other artist from being discussed under some belief that Jackie is being "hurt" by this. Last time I checked, this forum is microscopic, requires logging into (i.e., further restricts visibility), and would be considered as a non-existent entity rather than as some even extremely minor influencer.
It appears that since Jackie's success on The Masked Singer in early 2020, Jackie has gradually dropped being a classical crossover artist to the point that her last album, Carousel of Time, released in 2022, was now not classified as being in the classical crossover genre, and thus not charted in the Classical charts.
Jackie may still sing some songs during her recent concerts that made her a classical crossover artist, but Jackie has made a decision to go into Independent Alt-Rock and her first radio promoted song, Behind My Eyes, is classified as Adult Contemporary which would fall within this broad category.
As she builds up her Independent Alt-Rock / Adult Contemporary stable of songs, Jackie will sing fewer and fewer classical crossover songs, as could be expected when one is trying to promote one's own songwriting and corresponding music.
As for the four stated young female artists, Giulia Falcone, Emma Kok, and Angelina Jordan, are not even in the same ballpark that Jackie has moved into; namely, Independent Alt-Rock / Adult Contemporary, while one could argue that Lucy Thomas is in the same new genre lane that Jackie has decided to pursue.
Giulia primarily sings in Italian and French, with English thrown in, and an occasional Spanish song. To say that Giulia is "competition" is ludicrous.
Emma primarily sings in Jackie's old genre style of classical crossover. Given that Jackie has now dropped this genre, Emma is also not any "competition" for Jackie.
Angelina Jordan sings in a Jazz style as she grew up listening to this genre as introduced to Angelina by her grandmother when she was a child. Angelina rarely sings any song, whether a cover or her own original, without a Jazz influence. Last time I checked, Jazz is not Independent Alt-Rock / Adult Contemporary, not close. Would seem to me that Angelina is not "competition" either.
NOTE: For whatever reasons, Jackie's fans were consistently blocked from recording and publishing concert performance videos. I remember lots of Jackie fans complaining about the shortsightedness of this policy. Yes, in the US one does have certain rules one is to follow, but these rules can be waived under certain circumstances. For whatever reason, these rules have been waived by Angelina's people, and her label Republic Records, or else how does one explain some incredibly well-made concert performance videos created by some super fans and allowed to stay up on YouTube and other social media. Republic Records, and Angelina's team, apparently do not see this as a negative, but as a positive to further build Angelina's fanbase. As for Jackie, Sony and Jackie's team appeared to believe the opposite, and continuously blocked performance videos. Time will tell if Jackie's new label, Melody Place, and Jackie herself, will continue the policy of blocking concert performance videos from being published on social media. I hope not. We shall see.
From what I can tell Lucy would be the closest of the four aforementioned artists who could be considered, remotely, "competition" to Jackie. I personally am not a fan of Lucy, as her music and voice just do not strike a chord with me.
NOTE: Jackie's past success as a classical crossover artist does give her an advantageous over these other artists as Jackie can get exposure for her new music through her past contacts, where these other artists do not have this capability.
Anyway, destruction of the "Other Artists" thread has occurred, apparently under some belief that having this thread was some "threat" to Jackie, in a private, password-required forum. Pretty crazy to believe that, in my opinion.

Willyiam, I did not say or imply that the number of views is a "bad thing". Nor did I say or infer that "those that viewed these threads were only here to see Other Artists". And, I did not say or infer that "Guests and/or Members ONLY frequent this forum to see what has been posted in Other Artists.", as you asserted earlier. I simply said: "Yes, it's my observation that guests do frequent this forum to see what's been posted on Other Artists." I happened to be on-line when you posted the Giulia Falcone thread, and noticed that immediately there were 14 viewers at once.. I made note of the number of views attracted (109) within a few hours as confirmation that guests anticipate comments being posted on other artists and that there is a notable interest in other artists. That's all. This seems a case of "shoot the messenger". I initially responded to a comment posted by rickallanolsen on Jackie's Smoking Gun video as stated in the shoutbox. I am now stating what has been evident with regard to young female singers being promoted on this forum, specifically those perceived by the public/fans to be in competition with Jackie as artists.......Amira Willighagen, Angelica Hale, Lucy Thomas, Angelina Jordan, Giulia Falcone...and my objection to the frequency of these promotional posts. I am allowed, as a member, to object, just as you are allowed to defend your self-appointed right to create threads titled "Other Artists....." under Subjects of Interest to Forum Members, despite Admin having responded by deleting the Other Artists topic from the board. Granted, that should have been brought before the membership either for discussion or a vote. But, it wasn't. Now I am being attacked by you (gently) and by geb for stating my position. Let's be reasonable and suggest that Admin reconcile the situation with respect to both views before debating further. (Note: I may respond to geb's lengthy defense later.)

How about we vote on it and if it has enough votes than we will asked the Admin to make another Other Artist area. Does that sound fair?

I think that threads about other artists adds a lot to this forum. I do think that every forum which I read has threads about other topics. They can, of course, be ignored. In my opinion, that part of this forum should not have been removed without at least a discussion as has been mentioned by others here. Personally, I regard posts about Jackie’s siblings as no more on-topic than posts about other artists. I regard the posts comparing Jackie’s renditions of songs with other’s renditions of the same song, often the originator, as most interesting and certainly on topic. The only thing which I don’t feel should be included is comparison of another artist’s talent to Jackie’s. I do agree with the policy that politics should not be discussed. Anyone who has paid attention knows that in recent years, the great majority of my posts here have been about Emily Bear. The other “other artists” overwhelming don’t interest me, but I have listened to some of the videos about each’s performances. I probably posted soon after this forum started and I am certain that I did post such a message on the old Amazon forum on Amazon that I found out about Jackie due to Emily Bear. Back in 2010, I googled the name of my niece whose name is very similar to Emily’s. Listening to YouTube videos showing Emily’s performances back in 2010 got me recommendations for Jackie’s videos, especially her then recent America's Got Talent videos. I probably would not have heard about Jackie otherwise. After that for many years I listened much more to Jackie’s videos than to Emily’s. Things started to change when Emily graduated high school in 2016 and became a full-time artist. Now I follow her more than Jackie as her career went in numerous directions and still is. I add that this forum gets much more traffic than the only English forum about Emily Baer that I know about. emilybear.proboards.com/ There hasn’t been a post since February. It was my post. People closer to Emily’s (and Jackie’s) age rarely post on fora. Interestingly there is much more traffic on a thread about Emily on a German forum about Lena Meyer-Landrut. www.lenameyerlandrut-fanclub.de/forum/showthread.php?7356-Emily-Bear I have been posting there since 2020. I knew that if I joined that forum I would rarely post in other threads and asked another poster how that would be regarded there. I was told “no problem”. I think that all but one of my posts has been about Emily, and that was about Abigail Barlow who works with her and was awarded a Grammy with her. I should add that there is also a thread there about Jackie which hasn’t been posted on for five years. www.lenameyerlandrut-fanclub.de/forum/showthread.php?8344-Jackie-Evancho I enjoy posting in German although it takes a lot of effort. I am happy that only twice have others said they did not understand something which I posted although I am sure that I often make mistakes. I can blame that on my parents who did not speak German with me although both were born there. 80-to-90-year-old German would probably cause chuckles.

If Admin re-creates the Other Artists thread, then over 3000 posts have to be re-posted!! IMO, based on why it was deleted, we will never see an Other Artists thread again!!

Emily is certainly not competition as a singer, as you would agree, nor were the vast majority of artists that were posted in their respective threads under Other Artists. I think that distinction is pertinent in considering a vote on the whether or not to re-instate Other Artist. My personal perspective.

That means then that you and geb will continue posting promotional threads such as "Other Artists- Giulia Falcone under Subjects of Interest to Forum Members. Guess that's a solution for you both, though it means starting over with new material. Of course that will become available periodically. I had to start over with "Jackie's Versions.....". Fortunately, I had retained a file of that entire thread that I will repost.

Yes, although Emily's singing has improved a lot since her version of "The Girl From Ipanema" on the Queen Latifah show she is not competition as a singer to Jackie. OTOH, if one is talking about competition for album sales or concert attendance, there is competition. You raised a good point about others here who are singers, but I wonder if everyone would agree with you.

I guess nobody here remembers why the Other Artists thread was started by Rick Olsen.
Rick wanted to stop people directly mentioning other artists within Jackie specific threads, as had been occurring, especially with Amira Willighagen, and to a lesser degree other artists.
In fact, Angelina Jordan's first performance on 2014 Norway's Got Talent was also mentioned on some Jackie thread somewhere around the time the video of the performance had gone worldwide viral.
Thinking that mentioning, or posting videos of other artists in a thread that had been dedicated for that purpose by the originator of this forum, is somehow "hurting" Jackie, or creating "competition" for Jackie is beyond ludicrous, especially on a password accessed forum with barely a few dozen, if that many, people bothering to post anything.
The reality is that Jackie's original fanbase has been shrinking for many years.
Jackie knows this if only from music sales to concert attendance to number of streams/views.
Some did not like the new music Jackie was producing. In fact, Rick has publicly stated this here and has also stated here that he has not purchased any of Jackie's newer music.
Some just left as a new toy became their fancy. Some just died.
In reality, of all the artists mentioned, it has been ONLY Jackie's produced and released music and videos that I have purchased. I even have two of Jackie's singing dolls that I purchased when they came out. I have dozens upon dozens of concert buttons that had been produced over the years for Jackie's concerts. I am one of the few people who had signed a big Jackie poster that Len had intended to give to Jackie, but, if I remember correctly, was refused to be taken by Jackie's people for some reason that I do not know. That to me was completely wrong for Jackie's people to not take the fan signed poster that Len had professionally framed. Excuse after excuse was made with how Jackie's people were treating her fans. My guess is that Jackie had no idea it was happening. It may have been a consequence of one nutso fan who supposedly tracked down where Jackie had lived and showed-up at her door one day. I had heard that a restraining order may have been issued for this admittingly sicko fan.
However, this fan avoidance over the years appears to have turned-off many on-the-fence fans who turned to other artists who they thought were more fan friendly.
Note that I know that Jackie herself was more open and that her team was trying to protect her, but the appearance of not being very fan friendly still came out of little things that annoyed some people over time.
Once Jackie became 18-years old, and after COVID, and after Jackie's sufficient recovery from anorexia, her broken back, and other issues she alludes to within her new songs, Jackie appears to be trying to rebuild back her fanbase, after deciding to go into a new musical direction of Independent Alt Rock / Adult Contemporary and finally doing her own songwriting and production.
It was fortunate that Jackie happened to meet Greg Camp, who had already done his thing with Smash Mouth, and that they happened to hit it off. Jackie needed that mentor who could gently encourage and help her get to the next stage of her career.
And by Jackie being at a tiny label like Melody Place she obviously is not under the types of pressure that can occur at much bigger labels.
Jackie has been making concerted efforts to interact more with her fans. This is good. She is trying to do more on social media as she had said in the past she was a novice at its use for self-promotion and interaction with her fans.
And, in my opinion, she can start to pick-up new fans as she is building back her fanbase, with her own music, some of which I really like, and some of which I am lukewarm about. This happens to be true for any of the other artists that I like to follow. No artist has ever been perfect, nor can it be expected that everything they do will be liked by all their fans.
As Jackie continues to heal herself and moves into new directions, I am sure eventually something will click with more than her fanbase, as talent eventually shines through if one keeps plugging along.
