Thanks for posting that. Although I could see Jackie's song fitting in that category based upon what I regard as Adult Contemporary from my childhood, I was shocked to see another song on that list which I heard from a short chain of links starting with a performance by Emily Bear. In case anyone cares, it is "get him back!" by Olivia Rodrigo.

Did you notice other names on the AC list such as Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus to name a few pop stars? Adult Contemporary radio has changed significantly from what it was during your childhood and mine. Jackie fits in perfectly as an indie/alternative pop artist which is apparent by the current position of Behind My Eyes at no.28 on the Top 50 chart, and the "most added" song of the week.

Yes, I did. I guess things change. It does seem odd, and this was a genre I did not listen to when I was young.

It had its beginning in the late 70s. The general definition of alternative music is just music that isn’t made by anyone in the mainstream and that doesn’t follow specific templates to mainstream music styles. Alternative pop is created by independent artists not associated with major record labels, it has broad commercial appeal but considered more eclectic or challenging than mainstream pop music. Behind My Eyes fits that definition, and is suited to the music being played on Adult Contemporary radio today targeted toward a younger audience, and in Jackie's case, those struggling with mental illness.
