Have You Ever Been in Love is NOT in an unknown music genre. It is in pop and is known as a power ballad. It was recorded by Celine Dion and first released on her 7th English studio album A New Day Has Come (released in 2002) and was later included on her 8th English studio album One Heart (released in 2003). It peaked at #2 on the Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart. Jackie's rendition is a cover of Jimmie Linville's song. Celine's song is very different. Listen to it. Read the artist credit on Jackie's Two Hearts album. Stand corrected on that song. The Two Hearts album was released under the genre of classical crossover. However, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette indicated that the album had Jackie moving more toward pop. And listening to the song Jackie sung sure has strong pop elements in how the song was sung and produced.

geb, The point of this thread is to compare the differences in Jackie's vocal styles as she progressed from age 13. When I looked up "Dreams" by Bazzi it was designated R&B. What matters is that Jackie's vocal style in Dreams is very different from that of Dangerous Woman, the reason for posting the two together in contrast. Perhaps you could stick with the objective and contribute some comparisons of your own. including her age at the time of recording or performing? Thanks.

The Different Voices of Jackie Evancho (extended) Part 7: Folk Rock vs Alternative/Indie Pop Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell (age 22 -Carousel of Time album) My Love Mine All Mine by Mitski Miyawaki (Age 23 -Recording session short) The song My Love Mine All Mine is NOT Alternative. That is the broad classification for the album the song was published within ( The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We) as the album itself contains songs across multiple music genres (Americana, country, folk, orchestral pop). My Love Mine All Mine is tagged in the well-respected online music encyclopedia website Genius as being Americana but also is considered in the music genres of Pop-Rock and Soft-Rock. Given that it was published by the Indie label Dead Oceans, one could say Indie-Pop, so I have no real issue there. It is described as a ballad in style. When you watch and listen to Mitski's music video of the song, for me, it leans towards Soft-Rock but it is a mix of genres which is why it primarily fits in the Americana music genre. From wiki: "Americana (also known as American roots music) is an amalgam of American music formed by the confluence of the shared and varied traditions that make up the musical ethos of the United States, specifically those sounds that are emerged from the Southern United States such as folk, gospel, blues, country, jazz, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, bluegrass, and other external influences." My Love Mine All Mine has taken off after its released on October 3rd, charting in the Billboard Hot 100. By October 14th, the song raised to #1 in the TikTok Billboard Top 50. It is likely that TikTok is where Jackie first heard the song as Jackie now appears to be a regular poster on both her Instagram and TikTok accounts. It is smart for Jackie to cover this song and do #Mitski and #MyLoveMineAllMine hashtags to try to get some people to listen to her version. Covering a popular song and proper hashtags can start to get people to find Jackie. The way Jackie sings the song leans towards a soft jazzy style that happens to be one of the components of the Americana music genre. In fact, I am not alone in that belief as among the Jackie fans posting on TikTok, the Jackie fan Alejandro Mena commented: "It’s not urgent but you need to give us an album like this, jazz style kind of Diana Krall. Think of it" And we know that Jackie most likely saw the above noted comment as Jackie herself responded to the posting of DJ DZK that occurred about the same time as Alejandro's post. As I noted in an earlier posting, just because the original song as sung by the original artist is classified in one music genre DOES NOT necessarily mean that if Jackie (or any other artist) has decided to sing the song in a different music genre style that her different version gets tagged with the same genre as the original song and artist.

The song My Love Mine All Mine is NOT Alternative. That is the broad classification for the album As I noted in an earlier posting, just because the original song as sung by the original artist is classified in one music genre DOES NOT necessarily mean that if Jackie (or any other artist) has decided to sing the song in a different music genre style that her different version gets tagged with the same genre as the original song and artist. I'm not "tagging" Jackie's version with the same genre as the artist. I'm simply identifying the genre as a general reference, i.e. "Classical Broadway, Electro Pop, Classical, Pop Opera, Rock, R&B, Contemporary Pop, Soul-funk, Folk Pop, Country Rock and Alternative/Indie Pop", taken from Wikipedia. "Broad" is good enough for my intent, which you don't seem to understand despite my re-iterating it. In Jackie's Instagram post, she tagged My Love Mine All Mine "Indie Pop" as did I, "Alternative/Indie Pop. Please read my initial post. The purpose of this thread is to compare Jackie's different vocal styles when recording/performing different genres throughout her career from age 13 to show her exceptional versatility as a vocalist. I've done so by posting contrasting performances/recordings. What matters is that, for example, her vocal style of Music of the Night is dramatically different from that of Blank Space...That of Attesa is dramatically different from that of Have You Ever Been in Love, etc. As I said initially, "A primary distinction that characterizes classical crossover vocalists is that they are generally trained in classical voice, with a characteristically classical approach to singing pop, and other genres, whereas Jackie has had no formal voice training... In that regard, what distinguishes Jackie a unique CC artist is her ability to adapt her voice and change her vocal style appropriate to different genres. As I've said, Jackie's renditions/interpretations are almost always subtly or significantly different from the original to make the song her own. I think every knowledgeable fan knows that. Her rendition of Both Sides Now is different from Joni's. Her rendition of Dreams is different from Bazzi's. Her renditions of opera are in the pop-opera style, not in the classical style. But, that is not the point either, though a notable characteristic of Jackie's integrity as an artist. Please stick to the objective and post some comparisons of Jackie's different vocal styles. At least stop wanting to bicker about specifics of the genres. Thank you.

I'm blown away by Jackie's cover of the Mitski song. Her voice sounds amazing on it, much better than the original IMHO. I'm hoping she will record it, though I doubt she will. I don't care what genre it is, it just sounds goood.

I don't care what genre it is, it just sounds goood. I agree. You'll notice that she is in a recording studio (I think it's the one she uses in Pittsburgh) using a pro recording mic. The instrumentation sounds as though it was created on GarageBand which Jackie has used several times to make her own demos.....At Least I Have Santa, Get Out of My Life, Dream a Little Dream and Voyage of the Moon. She has become quite adept at that. It doesn't seem likely that she used the studio to record a short clip, so she may have posted only a portion of the song on Instagram, and a full recording is yet to come. I hope so.

The Different Voices of Jackie Evancho (extended)
Part 8: Classical Broadway vs Pop
Think of Me from the movie, Phantom of the Opera (age 14 -Awakening album)
Apocalypse, original written by Peter Zizzo (age 15 -Two Hearts album)
"My original song, "APOCALYPSE" takes me in a truly pop direction for the first time."
Note Jackie's use of "vocal fry", a Pop technique not encouraged by classical professionals.
