I greatly appreciate this tenor's voice, and would like to hear him duet with Jackie. He has performed with Sumi Jo and other notable ladies. He is recognized for combining his interests in opera and modern pop.

This was my first introduction to Safina. They say he's a tenor but he sounds like a Verde Baritone to me(like Carlos Marin of Il Divo). A great duet with Brightman but I find it hard to believe he wore blue jeans to sing with the greatest Classical Crossover singer of all time. This video had been down for at least three years but now it's back up again;

Sarah Brightman is there for a reason because for some still she is considered the QUEEN of CC. I happen not to be a huge fan of Brightman, but of course many are....

Sarah Brightman is there for a reason because for some still she is considered the QUEEN of CC. I happen not to be a huge fan of Brightman, but of course many are.... One can't deny Sarah's success. I've always enjoyed listening to her, but not watching her affected, stagy expressions- theatrical if you will. To me one of Jackie's most attractive qualities as a performer is her naturally emotive expression. Even her hand gestures as a child were genuine, though today more graceful.

I've heard Jackie's gestures in her younger days called "preying mantis" hands. Brightman used those gestures as well which is no doubt where Jackie saw and copied them(to a certain extent). I agree she is more confident and graceful with her hands now.

One of my fav things I heard Sarah say was when she was asked after her divorce from ALW what the financial settlement was and she said, "I didn't want his money I have my own." And In her prime, Sarah had the most beautiful voice in the world.
And remember that Sarah PERSONALLY pleaded with the great Italian film score composer Ennio Morricone to allow her to write the lyrics to Nella Fantasia(Gabriel's Oboe). He got so tired of her letters every few months begging him for permission that he finally gave in. The song would have never been as big a hit as it was without her lyrics. She just had that sixth sense about how a song would sound with lyrics.

cat, how many of those 65 million album Featured Sarah's "My Fantasy". Here is link to translation of original into English, lybio.net/ennio-morricone-chiara-ferrau-nella-fantasia-english-translation/opera/Here is Sarah's 'translation' of the Great song into English In my fantasy I see a fair world, Where everybody lives in peace and honesty, I dream of souls that are always free, Like the clouds that fly, Full of humanity deep within the soul. In my fantasy I see a clear world, Where even at nights there is less darkness, I dream of souls that are always free, Like the clouds that fly. In my fantasy, there is a hot wind, That blows over the cities, like a friend, I dream of souls that are always free, Like the clouds that fly, Full of humanity deep within the soul. They look the same as what could be copied from the translation on the link post here, with a word here and there changed for a word with the same meaning.

I agree she is more confident and graceful with her hands now. Yes, many criticized Jackie's hand gestures as well as anything else they could find fault with, even that she "copied" them unsuccessfully from Sarah. They never appeared contrived to me, nor to many others, but a natural (for her) inclination or compulsion to move with the music as she felt it, even as she does now with as much feeling but with more finesse. Many more like me found them endearing and uniquely "Jackie". It would seem if Jackie were intent upon copying Sarah she would have tried to imitate her "theatrical" facial expressions as well, but obviously had not.
Jackie has been accused of being an "imitator" since the beginning, and that had became a standard criticism among her detractors.

I have always liked Jackie's hand gestures since it shows that she understands what the songs signify and is not just singing the words without thought. That is especially true of the songs which she sings in foreign languages.

Before some in here get too critical of hand gestures, Shirley Bassey often uses them. I bet no one in here will ever say that woman doesn't know how to use them with effectiveness. :-)

It seems your delusions are not limited to the topic Rick prohibits from discussion here, that you ignore constantly, but extends into the field of music. Chiara Ferrau wrote the lyrics to Nella Fantasia. Sarah did a translation into English, but it sure had NOTHING to do with the song being "as big a hit as it was". LOL The article I read said Brightman wrote the lyrics in English and Ferrau translated them into Italian. As for your arrogant, condescending reply to me, here's my reply to you; GFY. If you take some time, say an hour or two in recognition of your two-digit IQ, you MIGHT be able to figure out the meaning.
