You're a good man Col. You posted a earnest reply to my tongue-in-cheek, smart @$$ reply. I'll give you my best supposition as to why there is all that vitriol over the tranny issue. It is simply that the general public is fatigued over tranny's and other "oppressed victim" classes demanding special rights and considerations. Their defenders usually try to lay a guilt trip on anyone insolent enough to wonder why some people demand the majority cave to special demands. Women, Negros and homosexuals enjoy all the rights of citizenship enumerated, but not limited to, in the Bill of Rights. The American Bill of Rights is the name given to the first ten amendments to the then new Constitution of the U.S. As do all adult Americans who are not felons, or in some specific offices or in the military, enjoy the freedom of speech, religion, press, right to assemble and right to petition the govt for redress of grievances. That's a fast summary of the first amendment. The second declares our right to keep and bear arms. The third is weird and specifically enumerated in response to George the III'd quartering of troops in private homes. It says our govt can't do that. The fourth enumerates that citizens are to be secure in their persons, papers and effects. That to seize anything belonging to or concerning a private citizen a warrant must be issued by the courts. Said warrant, to be valid must issue upon affirmation or sworn testimony and further must state specifically what property or person is to be seized. The fifth (which I often plead) is a citizen's right to forbear self incrimination. (Some countries to this day can beat a confession out of an accused and said confession will have standing in court.) EDIT: Oops! I hit the post button accidentally. Not to worry though I'm near through with the list portion of this post. The sixth, seventh and eighth amendments deal with the judiciary in that the enumerate the right to a speedy trial, the right to trial by a jury of their peers and limit the courts on imposing cruel or unusual sentences. They are a bit nebulous in my memory as I've always been acquitted. Lol. The ninth states that these enumerated rights are not to be regarded as the only rights guaranteed. The tenth is very important imo it limits the three branches of govt to ONLY those powers stated in the body of the Constitution. This, along with the second, is perhaps the most violated article in the BOR. Nowhere does the Constitution, or Common Law (That would be English Common Law which has standing and is valid president in US Jurisprudence.) or common sense for that matter, guarantee anyone happiness, just the freedom to pursue one's idea of happiness. Nor does the Constitution, or again common sense, guarantee anyone the right not to be offended. Many minorities of whatever stripe, be they racial minorities, economic or political refugees or sexual deviants, feel they have a right to impose their selves and their beliefs in today's America and often across the world by force of law. I think they are mistaken. SECOND EDIT TO ADD: We people of Western Civilization have been shown to give listen and often heed to those people truly oppressed and have done more than any other system in history to right wrongs which are presented for evaluation. I've always known that Americans are passionate people with strong opinions who prize their constitution and free speech: it's all part of their heritage that's taught them from young. The day they no longer feel entitled to speak their minds will be a dark one for the whole world. We have a constitution too (though no Bill of Rights), but you would be hard pressed finding anyone in the street who knows the first thing what's in it. Still, we manage. Maybe none of those posters broke anything in the constitution, but to lash out at soft targets like a teenager and her mom when commenting on a show that none of them had seen seemed weird to me. They sure must be frustrated. Every country has a constitution and every company, and incorporated club are required to have a constitution by law. They're pretty common things. Americans mainly focus on the amendments, however they have a constitution with all the other stuff in that's pretty common, quorums, agm's, meetings, attendances, division of duties etc. Australia's is pretty straight forward, its basically, this is what the Federal Government is responsible for, and if you can't find it here then the States are responsible for it. Constitutions are pretty much off the shelf documents and then you just make the amendments to suit your purposes, they are just a set of best practices for running a group.

Before then The United States operated under the Articles of Confederation, which proved inadequate for the practical functioning of the national government. To this day the Brits have an "unwritten constitution." By that it is meant there is no one document covering the make-up of the government. The only document of the several that constitute the British constitution that I know about offhand is the Magna Carta forced on King John in 1215. It gave some nobles some rights. The Constitution of the United States was a unique document in it's day. Since the founding, our Constitution has served as the model for many of the subsequent Constitutions of other nations. It is said in some circles that the United States is a nation founded by geniuses and run by idiots.

Rick, I'm sure you know the difference between civics/history and politics. Sometimes conversations take a natural turn to explain or expand on a question related to the main thrust of the subject. 'Why the vitriol,' was a reasonable question from an active poster. I tried to answer that question as I see it. When the special airs, this thread will be hopping.

When you start deleting posts, please start with the ones that are like a half a page long, then replied to, then another half page long, then another reply . . . See what I mean. I read really slow so it take me until noon to get thru them. Maybe do like Shoutbox and put a reasonable limit. Maybe be able to reply without using the full original, or really long, post. Some members think since TE does or says something it opens the door to discuss anything. I'm agreeing with you, Admin, you have to corral the cats.

Most states have set up laws to represent their residents values and wishes. 5 years ago i would have suggested to Lisa that she move to California but in the last few years the laws have changed to the point that i no longer wish to live here so i am planning to move to Nevada. The nicest area i have found there is Carson City. My daughter and i plan on a trip there next month to see if the (atmosphere) agrees with her. She has asthma. So, Lisa, if you want to consider moving to a place that is far far away from most of the #$%^ you might want to consider moving to Carson City Nevada.

"Window Lickers" is a derogatory term used against people who are mentally handicapped. So Lisa, with all her whining and Juliet's whining about discrimination, name calling, etc is a bigot. Ironic isn't it. You just made your position quite apparent. Where does Jackie fit in with "whining about discrimination" while supporting her sister?
