I don't think this girl has big aspirations. I think it was a little like Jackie doing the cup song. More for fun than anything.

Maybe so. I'll give credit where credit is due. The Storm Trooper's space-age version of the hee haw mountain boys blowing on a whiskey jug runs a close second to banjo girl. Consider the context that 11 year old Jackie just performed Nessun Dorma with full orchestra.

The Dutch woman sings ND like a love song; very soft and languid. And the aria has been transposed down at least a Major Third because of her very low voice, I think in the low Alto range.
I doubt the Maestro would be happy with her interpretation but I'm sure he would love the way Jackie sings it as a Soprano with passion and fire. I think he would also see the fourth Vincero as a great closing phrase. In fact I'm surprised he didn't use it himself. It makes so much sense to give the singer the final phrase instead of just the orchestra alone. I've often wondered if it was David or Jackie who thought of that...

I agree with you catmando but if I remember right Sarah Brightman let the choir finish ND on one of her albums. After hearing the ND versions that she alone finished, there was no doubt in my mind, that was the way it should be. **** Meaning I prefer the singer hitting the high note

I don't think this girl has big aspirations. I think it was a little like Jackie doing the cup song. More for fun than anything. I think young Maan, the singer, has just as high show biz aspirations as anyone we've mentioned. She's done the Voice and is going to be on a Dutch TV dance show, as well. She has a good voice and sounds as though she's had training. And she's beautiful and quite vibrant Her father has a successful TV show in The Netherlands. In other words, she's well funded. All she needs is to go to London or LA, where the music bix is HQ'd and take her shot. If she gets Max Martin or Ed Sheeran to write her songs, away she goes. OTOH, maybe she's happy in Europe. I might add, Nessum Dorma has a great melody. A sure fire tugger of the heart strings. But it is most effective sung by a tenor or a lyric soprano. Maan appears to be a coloratura? Much lower anyhow and that robs the melody of a lot of its drama.

Julia, I agree with all you say about Maan, the singer. I think you mistook my comment as directed toward her. It was a reply to the video of the girl playing the banjo posted by ads, written directly below it.

....re:Maan........I doubt the Maestro would be happy with her interpretation .......... In that case there are many dead Maestros turning in their grave to hear how I've butchered there piano pieces, and that's playing them how they were written, or my best effort at that.
