In no way do I mean to judge Jackie and her choices in music. I do not wish to give her or anyone else the impression I know what is best for Jackie, her music or her future. There have been some things rattling around in my head lately. I think it may be pieces of my heart. Nessun Dorma will help me make my point. Nessun Dorma is one of the reasons I am a fan of Jackie’s.
To begin, I offer observations which I think naturally invite your opinions whether they agree with mine or not. Either way, whether you are a fan or not, whether you are musically inclined or challenged, whatever you are or feel, I am curious how others feel about this thing that nags me.
All the time since her first day on AGT, I couldn’t help but wonder. After picking myself up off the floor and wiping the tears from my eyes that her O Mio Babbino Caro caused, I wondered about her voice, her potential impact literally on the music world and people in general. Before the end of AGT 2010, I felt it was obvious her musical future would be mainly Opera or Classical Crossover.
When Jackie started experimenting with pop, I worried. A line from a Beatles song comes to mind, “is it for her or myself that I cry…?”. I truly understand I have no way to know what is right or wrong for her. Normally I keep my mouth shut on this topic. Lately, however, it seems she may be questioning what path to take. It is part of growing up. May I be so bold to offer this possible insight: remember, it was the music that Jackie chose to perform and how she performed it that caught our attention. I think continuing on that path and staying on that path is important to her and her fans. That being said, nothing is as important as being true to oneself. So her choice is all that matters.
So, everything here may have already crossed everyone’s minds or maybe I am way off track. Maybe I crossed a line once drawn by Lisa and Mike when it was told to us that as a fan, we should not say what Jackie should or should not do. I did not intend for this to be that.
But now I am at the point where I bring up what prompted me to write this. I came across a video of a woman(her name is unknown only because I didn’t see her name and I do not understand the language on the video) performing Nessun Dorma quite beautifully. I love it, but it is more a pop style and yet is not pop. She reaches the high notes beautifully and is extremely good in taking the song to its emotional place. So I had to wonder, would Jackie settle for this style or would she rather continue to embrace the style she brought to us on AGT. Hopefully she sees the beauty in both styles but sees and understands, truly, the difference.
So here is that woman followed by you know who.
Do you see the difference that I see and feel what I feel?

Although Dutch is supposed to be midway between English and German and I am a naïve English speaker who understands German, I cannot understand Dutch except for isolated words.
Edit: Oops. That should be "native" although naïve is also true.

It`s Dutch, yes. If spoken slowly Dutch and Germans even can understand each other. I worked in Swizerland and had a lot of dutch patients, it worked. Maan de Steenwinkel is a young singer, only a little side at wiki: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maan_de_SteenwinkelGood sung but comes not near to Jackie. But it shows that good music can be interpreted in many ways, it stays good, like the music of J.S.Bach. Jackie`s voice is too operatic to transform such pieces to pop but for pop voices it`s ok. So she shouldn`t try this. Jackie force two ways same time and it`s always better to stand on two legs than only on one. If pop stays a hobby she has her career with CC. If she finds a fan comunity for her pop song, even better. I was asked to become a professional musican with cello but I saw the problem to play in an orchestra many times music I don`t like, so I didn`t. A star like Jackie can choose what she want to sing and we can choose what part of this we want to hear. So all is good.

I prefer de rendiation of Jackie becouse she sings it with more passion. It's a song about a dark passion and I hear in the singing of Jackie more treath.

If my understanding of the preceding post by Believer is correct, the central theme of the post concerns the often reacurring topic of Jackie staying with CC or expanding equally into POP. Many have strongly expressed their feeling that CC should always remain dominant and that POP should only be an experiment. I believe this position is adopted for two major reasons. First, most every fan was intially drawn to Jackie because of her unbelievable purity of sound and ability to interpret classical arias with uncanny emotion for one so young. Many fans still cling to that reason because the classical sound appeals to them above all else and perhaps Jackie should somehow feel obliged to maintain her roots or risk damaging her career and losing original fans. Second, Jackie has mentioned on a few occassions that her voice is most suited to CC and for that reason she ought to stay the path with her classical side. Interestingly, over the past couple of years she does not seem to mention that as much as in the past but rather that she will still continue to have CC as a mainstay in her repertoire.
Jackie has always stated from time to time that she enjoys listening to POP and that she greatly respects entertainers such as Lady Ga Ga. Since she turned 14 and more so now she has been curious about how she might sound doing POP. Probably the changes in her voice as she matures sparked her curiosity and enabled her to experiment more into the POP genre with less concern for vocal damage. She seems to enjoy this experimentation and it most certainly has awakened her creative ability. This awakening is possibly the single most important factor in developing her career. If this creativity is linked more to POP than CC then so be it.
If POP becomes more dominant because it is easier to be creative in her own material than trying to create something in CC then I will enjoy listening to her new material. I grew up with POP, R&R, Reggae, Ska and to a lesser extent Jazz. It was the Three Tenors, then Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli that drew me into classical music. Jackie merely sealed the deal for me. However, I still enjoy listening to what I formerly listened to when younger. Now I enjoy CC addition. So for me it is not difficult to accept Jackie and the development of POP in her career. Whether CC or POP she will always have my undivided attention and fondness for listening to her sound. She remains a wonder and a joy. I for one will always keep in mind that it is her career and I own no say in it. She is willing to share what she does and I gladly accept what she offers.

Gordie has expressed my sentiment very well with insight to Jackie's creative inclinations, and particularly that Jackie "will always have my undivided attention and fondness for listening to her sound".
Jackie is a true artist who's inventiveness and exploration in music I think emanates from her innate desire to express herself from a depth that naturally demands originality. She said in a recent interview; "I've sung that way all my life". That implies to me that she's satisfied with having done what has been expected of her, but with her newly acquired sense of becoming her own person in the public eye, that creative impulse has to emerge in some new way that is her own. She said also; "I want to make my own way, and my own place in the music industry" (paraphrased). I take from that she is continuing to challenge herself, and I might add challenging us as well. We should expect some more surprises from Jackie. I imagine them to be astonishing as usual. It has always been her innate interpretive skill, her honest emotion and that magnificent tone of her voice that has captured me, regardless of genre.

Great post gordie. I think I may have taken on more than I could chew although you did get part of my long winded post correct. Yes I do prefer she take the path leading to Classical Crossover. And she does indicate she will keep classical in her repertoire(my words not hers). But I hoped she would take on more classical works. Habanera comes to mind(Personally I may have not liked this idea prior to her 16th birthday). Maybe La Boheme or La Traviata. But this is all up to her. And even less classical, I would like to hear her perform Danny Boy. Again, I know she and her team have their reasons. But one thing that's very noticeably missing is there has been no LP/CD/DVD of her singing her most loved music as a pre-adult. I think there should be studio recordings of the songs that made the child a world wide phenomenon. I cannot possibly conceive how this would not be a platinum or maybe double platinum,,,or triple platinum monster hit. Maybe it is only a matter of time. But why not now? It's hard to sit on the sidelines when so much opportunity seems to be at hand. But, like you, whatever she chooses will get my attention.

I like her tonality and approach to Nessun Dorma. However its a bit like playing the "Imperial March" from Star Wars on the banjo and washboard.
