Jackie missed a big one at The Shenandoah Valley Concert Should have done Shenendoah probably ranks second to Don't Cry For Me Argentina among songs that I wish that Jackie would sing. Nothing against Sissel, but I think that Jackie would do better. Sorry. Sissel's performance here and her accompaniment is brilliant. Jackie has a lovely tone in her voice, but she can not yet bring the depth of meaning, of longing that Sissel accomplishes. Jackie is a talented kid, but I think it's a mistake for fans to make her think that she is the best that ever was and nothing else needs to be done. She can learn a lot from Sissel if she wants to continue in C/C.

How about Celine Dion covering Roberta Flack??? "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" is a 1957 folk song written by political singer/songwriter Ewan MacColl for Peggy Seeger, who was later to become his wife.

She can learn a lot from Sissel if she wants to continue in C/C. Julia, I appreciate your perspective. I'm sure many agree that Jackie could learn from other artists, whether in cc, pop, or classical. I don't think Jackie is so naive to assume she needn't improve. Never the less, that has not deterred her from challenging herself with difficult songs, nor has it diminished my appreciation of her having done so. Jackie has interpreted many songs assumed to be more demanding than her talent and experience would allow with surprising depth and feeling, because of her innate sense of a song's meaning and emotion. I don't see it as a matter of whether she is accomplished enough, but rather a matter of one's preference for her voice, regardless of her lacking "experience". Jackie is admired by many for her ability to equal or better the performances of other more renown artists, in their opinion of course.

I guess Jackie is coming up on the age when she can sing this beautiful song.
Over the past six or more years of being a Jackie fan there has been more than one song that would allow her voice to soar but was simply too mature of a theme.
