Hope you have everything you need for a week and your power holds. Julia, I read on another site that shall remain nameless, that you have a grown daughter and a grandchild in the flood area. I hope they come through unscathed. Thanks, so much, Agog. They're just over the northern border of metro Houston. Still okay, but two more days of rain to go and a nearby creek is supposed to crest 4 ft above flood stage, which is about 8" below THEIR elevation. If it hits 5'+ they're going to flood.

Pictures from their web site: Don That certainly doesn't look promising. Maybe Jackie should dig up the boots which she wore when singing Bridge Over Troubled Water although they won't be much good in three feet of water.

...Grant to us, O boundless One, not to be attached to earthly things, but rather to love heavenly things; so that while all things around us pass away, we may ever now hold fast those things which abide for evermore...
Good ol' Ben. If you were drowning near his boat he might give spiritual advice instead of tossing a flotation ring 'cause after all, a flotation ring is just a material thing in this material world. Lol Benster. The meaning of the prayer goes way over most heads, just like the water level in Texas.

Must be the fire marshal worrying about overcrowding the church.

Compassion wins: After criticism, Osteen's megachurch opens to Harvey victimsFernando Alfonso III and Andrew Dansby - Houston Chronicle - Tuesday, August 29, 2017 Five buses carrying Houston residents displaced because of Tropical Storm Harvey pulled up to Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church on Tuesday morning. Following claims that the megachurch had shut out Harvey victims, Lakewood formally opened its doors Tuesday at noon to accept baby diapers, and adult diapers on behalf of the city. "Victoria and I care deeply about our fellow Houstonians. Lakewood's doors are open and we are receiving anyone who needs shelter," Osteen tweeted Tuesday at 11:12 a.m. As of 12:08 p.m., roughly 50 people have been admitted to the church to register for shelter.

Love ya Benster.
Two things I can tell from your posts over time:
1. You can take a joke.
2. You would help anyone in need that you were able to.

Imo no way compassion won Ben. From what I know about Osteen, the bad publicity was the motivating factor. He always struck me as one who found a workable formula to shear the flock. I think you know I'm a believer.

This appears be the church/theatre?, but the theatre may be the same condition if it is a separate building. Front row fans will be issued skin diving gear to find their seats. Prices are now reversed with Balcony the most expensive, and Pit seats free. I hope somehow it can be cleaned up in time, but realize that may not happen. What is the lead time to order and install say, 1,000 new seats? Perhaps it will be delayed. Don

I would be very much surprised if this concert takes place as planned. I can't believe that the venue will be a high priority to be quickly put back into order. Also ticket sales will probably slow to a crawl.

Also ticket sales will probably slow to a crawl. Yes, likewise the Lake Jackson concert. I figure there's nothing to do until I get contacted by the venues. I hadn't made any reservations or bought plane tickets yet. I had to eat half my plane fare and all my hotel costs when San Antonio was cancelled. I won't be able to go if these concerts are not re-scheduled for a weekend. So, I might have a couple of tickets to give away. Anyway, no matter. The people in the Houston area have real problems. I've seen Jackie before and tickets just went on sale for a concert 20 minutes from my house. I'm counting my blessings. I hope the Jackie fans in Texas recover from the disaster and are able to again see Jackie or see Jackie for the first time.

This is a drone view of the area around where the Centrum is located. About at the 11:30 mark you can see the Centrum in the upper center of the video. The place is a lake.

Fabreeze will do wonders with the smell. Just to let you know, November 4th and 5th has not been kind to us and Jackie concerts in the past (San Antonio).

I'm cautiously optimistic. The water has receded from the building. Posts on the venue webpage show them already in full recovery mode. Two months with a dedicated team can work wonders. Of course, time will tell.
