So why would Jackie now sell her 3rd Christmas album? Because people still will buy a Christmas album, if only to give as a gift.
There have been some monster Christmas album sellers. Josh Groban's "Noel" has sold over 5.7 million copies (according to SoundScan) and spent five weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, the most ever of any Christmas album.
Then we also have Mariah Carey's "Merry Christmas" (5.3 million, according to SoundScan), Celine Dion's "These Are Special Times" (5.2 million, per SoundScan), and Barbra Streisand's "A Christmas Album" (5 million, according to the RIAA).
Of course the above 5 times platinum albums were by very well known super stars.
I supposed everyone would be ecstatic if this Christmas album by Jackie were to match her last Christmas album ("Heavenly Christmas") which, I believe, did at least 300,000 in sales.

The Pie Jesu that Jackie sang with Plácido Domingo on his album was the Andrew Lloyd Webber version, not the Fauré version, AFAIK. Does Amzn list it as Fauré's? The melodies are different. There are lots of other versions, but Faure's & Lloyd Webber's seem to be the best known. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pie_JesuOf course the best is when, in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, they chant "Merciful Jesus, Lord, Grant Them Rest" just before blowing up the killer rabbit with the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch.

I ordered mine today - even if most of the songs are recycled, I don't have the duets with Peter Hollens, Il Volo, or Domingo, nor of course the title track; besides, it's now been a long time since there was a new album to look forward to!
Edit: Something of a minor disaster has occurred for me where I live: The regional CD, DVD, book, and magazine retailer Hastings has gone bankrupt and is closing all its outlets nationwide. (Several years ago it had closed many of them in smaller retail areas.) This was where I first saw and bought DWM back in its first week of release, and if I hadn't I probably wouldn't be posting on this forum now. Of course we still have Amazon - but the problem with that (not for US) is with fewer retail outlets there are that many fewer chances for newcomers to discover Jackie (or other artists as well) and for "impulse buying" like what I did.

How many VHS video stores are still in your area? As the popularity of CDs continues to decline, it's harder to stay in business selling CDs. Hastings had smaller stores so never had the widest selections (compared to a Barnes & Noble or the like), but I will miss them as well.

So someday soon, I assume, my 200 disc player may be a collectible antique? I'll be rich!! The sooner, the better

There's an old school independent video store in my neighborhood. It's great. There are live persons there that recommend or just chat about movies. There is also a single-screen independent movie theater that has been there since the 1920s. On Tuesdays at 10am they have "Munchkin Matinee", where they don't turn down the lights all the way and the sound volume is lowered, so that people can bring small children. Changing tables provided, too. Tickets are $6, children under 8 get in free.

I notice that "Someday at Christmas" is the title of her upcoming concert at Count Basie Theater next month, and they are billing it as a Christmas & holiday music concert.
Perhaps the album, and the concert will work together to boost sales of both the cd, and tickets !!!

I knew the concert would have a Christmas set list, but tying it to the album is a good idea. Hey rogeraphil, how about pre-concert dinner at The Dublin House. I started a list in the concert thread, but I'm the only one on it. I called them a couple months ago and was told they would be open that day. I'll call again to make sure no one has rented the whole place out. Last time there were five of us for dinner and I know the other four guys are attending the concert again. The usual suspects. It would be nice to have at least ten show up this time.

Pretty cool, a New England record store chain. www.newburycomics.com/There's one just around the corner from The Vets in Providence. As it so happens, I will be in Providence on Nov. 27th...for a concert. I can pick up some cool stuff for Christmas. The first time I traveled to a Jackie concert, Baltimore, I went to D.C. and all I bought was one of those dumb FBI hats.
