I just linked this site for another question. Stack Exchange I didn't realise they have a Physics area with lots of stuff about acoustics and harmonics.
I use one forum there Stackoverflow for Q&A on SQL and other languages, it has 6.6 million members and is considered the best resource for many languages. Stack Exchange has many other forums that might be of interest to other members, check it out.
Maybe if people want to discuss music related physics and theory, they could use this thread.

Excerpt from a Rockford Symphony Orchestra article on "Why An Orchestra Always Tunes To The Oboe"
...When a keyboard instrument joins the orchestra as either a featured instrument or just a section member, the oboist listens to the ‘A’ played by the keyboard, matches it, and plays it so the rest of the orchestra can hear. And what if there is no keyboard, no oboe, no clarinet – just strings? Then the concertmaster pre-tunes his or her A string to A=440 Hz and plays the note for everyone else to hear.

I tune my own Piano, and it sucks and I suck at it. However it's a very interesting topic, there are so many ways to tune a piano. Stretch tuning, tempered, major, minor and Pythagorean tuning just to name a few. Then there are up to 3 strings and you have to guess which one you're listening to and at the end of it all, there are always slippery pegs, so it drops out anyway. I'm kind of OK at tuning the piano, but you need ear skills I don't really have.

Music and Math being symmetrical should not be surprising. Everything can be expressed in terms of mathematics most nottably as 1 and 0. Actually if you stop and consider .....Math is simply another language.
"1 + 1 = 2" can be expressed in the English language as "one plus one equals two". A simple Math statement translates into a simple English statement.
Math Lesson 2: Where X = Jackie and Y = Evancho Family X times Y = XY or Jackie times Evancho Family = Jackie's Evancho Family....... and we are so pleased that good math is irrefutable.
However, an Engineer would insist to his prospective new employer that 1+1=2, the Mathematician would argue that the answer might be in the range of -1 to +2 depending upon the signs of the numbers involved. i.e. positive and/or negative; the Accountant would simply ask what would you like the answer to be? He was immediately hired.

The mathematician would argue that the "note" is analogue and can't be accurately represented in any subset of the binary datatypes, including integers and reals.
The Op coder will tell you 1+1 = 1 shift left
The SQL programmer will tell you Jackie x Evancho Family = Jackie Left outer join Evancho Family where Jackie.Surname = EvanchoFamily.Surname = Jackie,Lisa Jackie,Mike Jackie,Juliet etc
The engineer will tell you that 1 has a significance or +/-.5 so the answer is between 1 and 3 not inclusive
And the Accountant will tell you he is not liable for the figure that your asking to hear.
