I wouldn't be smug about only " the liberals" criticizing her. Conservatives were every bit as critical of her over the Redford movie, which had a leftist political theme. It was just lower profile than singing the SSB at the inaugural. In the past, some have suggested Jackie be some sort of conservative values icon, but they're disappointed as soon as they become aware of Jackie's support for the Juliet transition. So, we get rid of the Political thread and now it spills over into other threads! I thought Political discussion was against the rules? Or is it just against the rules to discuss politics in other threads if we have a political thread? And why is an Admin stimulating Political discussion? What is the rule as it relates to Political discussion? I was answering someone who posted a political comment from "one side" - pointing out that Jackie has always been BIpartisan & Apolitical. Alternatively, perhaps we could ban all use of the words "liberal" & "conservative" (& like terms)? The Evanchos have made politics a significant part of Jackie's career, although they've also tried to be balanced. They agreed to have Jackie sing for Obama twice, act in Redford's film & make the Juliet transition public (including the bathroom lawsuit). They're the ones who agreed to have Jackie sing at the inauguration & had their first political contact be Jane Orie. Not discussing politics AT ALL would be very difficult. Making clear that they've always tried to be balanced is the best way to handle it IYAM. I trust that over the long run, that reduces political conflicts. However, I'll bring this up with admins & see how we should handle these things. If the consensus (with them & with members in general) is to be more restrained, I'll abide by that.

This is Jackie's third concert at this venue. The previous two were also virtual sellouts. No current or very recent events would explain this, at all. She's always been popular here.

This is a Jackie Evancho forum, NOT a Jackie Evancho's family forum! What the parents of Jackie do politically has nothing to do with Jackie! We have no idea what Jackie's political views are, and we shouldn't care or pursue. Jackie's voice and singing career is all that should concern us. Her parents decided to put the family in the political spotlight, but that, IMO, does not give the members of this forum the right to discuss what Jackie had no control over. Jackie did NOT sue the school! Jackie did NOT go on Social Media or request to be interviewed in order to voice her opinion on the controversy surrounding her sister! The Pine-Richland Restroom Issue thread, IMO, should never have been created. I live next to a serial killer, that does not make me an accomplice! W: "What the parents of Jackie do politically has nothing to do with Jackie!" P: I'd have to respectfully disagree with you about that one. She's still a minor, so technically, everything she does is under their supervision & with their permission. And vice versa, what they do indeed reflects on her. W: "We have no idea what Jackie's political views are..." P: True. But I still think we can infer that she's tried hard to be balanced & neutral. W: "...we shouldn't care or pursue." P: Then no one should try to take possession of her politically & criticize the other side, implicitly or explicitly. I always defended Jackie when the conservatives were criticizing her about the Redford movie, & I've defended her now when the liberals are criticizing her about the inauguration. W: "Her parents decided to put the family in the political spotlight, but that, IMO, does not give the members of this forum the right to discuss what Jackie had no control over." P: Jackie has talked in videos about how she strongly supports Juliet. Surely she has some control over what comes out of her mouth? It was her parents, not her, who decided to sue, but Jackie has repeatedly said she supports her sister. How can we not talk about something that's central to Jackie's, & her family's, lives? W: "Jackie did NOT go on Social Media or request to be interviewed in order to voice her opinion on the controversy surrounding her sister!" P: Didn't they both interview with Access Hollywood? Or was it People? They certainly interviewed together about the subject. AND Jackie made the AOTS vid specifically with the acceptance message. So even if Jackie didn't specifically to to social media, she DID go to the media in general to voice her opinion about her sister. W: "The Pine-Richland Restroom Issue thread, IMO, should never have been created." P: OK, you have a right to your opinion. You don't have to visit that thread. Enough people evidently approve of it that it's been somewhat popular with members.

Jackie also spoke at a PR school board meeting in support of trans students, appeared on KDKA Pittsburgh to support Juliet, has tweeted multiple times that she is proud of Juliet, follows PFLAG and The Trevor Project on Twitter, and tweeted support for the SCOTUS decision on gay marriage. So,.yes, Jackie has gone on social media to express her views on some of these issues. Who knows if she will again.

So she DID go to social media with support of Juliet.

There are 3 seats left in McCallum Theater for this concert. Don't tell Jackie's Amzn trolls & haters. They're always talking about how her concert sales are falling, & she can barely draw a couple of hundred people.

The weather forecast for Saturday is 78 degrees, sunny and pleasant. Pretty much the same as last time Jackie was here. She commented about it from the stage, said, "Where I live it's MINUS temperatures!".
