Good to hear that Bocelli will be there and likely they will duet. I always thought she should have sung Pie Jesu with him for the Pope. No voice has ever sung it more beautifully than hers. Couldn't believe the Pope went all the way to her home town and did not get to hear her sing it.

The only thing Philadelphian about Jackie is she kind of reminds me of Grace Kelly. Has the same classy air about her.

BTW, I'm not suggesting they should sing Pie Jesu for Donald. Perhaps, "Time To Say Goodbye"?

Andrea Bocelli seems to be experiencing even worse backlash than Jackie. And no one is even defending him!

Andrea Bocelli seems to be experiencing even worse backlash than Jackie. And no one is even defending him! Just checked his Facebook. It's bad, as you say. Some people think that no one should sing at the inauguration, and whoever does is a bad person. If no one were to sing the national anthem to mark the occasion the whole country would be the loser, not just Trump.

This is all very painful for me. I'm not enjoying this, at all, and wish it could be undone. We have left-wingers trying to paint Jackie as some sort of Leni Riefenstahl-type. The media uses the transgender sister story as a convenient hook, so of course the right-wing trolls swarm and spew hate speech. Is all this ill will really worth the money and publicity?

The media uses the transgender sister story as a convenient hook, so of course the right-wing trolls swarm and spew hate speech. Is all this ill will really worth the money and publicity? We know Team E was already aware of the possible backlash, and weighing up the + and - of the publicity, including Jackie herself. There would have been phone calls to people like DF for advice. The problem with trolls is if nobody defends against them they will go away, social media is designed to float dialog to the top. At the moment trolling Jackie has suddenly become news worthy and there is no such thing as bad press. You normally have to pay a lot of money for it and the media know that around half the population are more than on her side. While the US election has been the biggest media event for many years. Jackie has nicely jumped on that bus, and the more backlash the more attention, and public backlash will find more people supporting her. It makes for such a good story.
Don't think that Miley Cyrus's antics were not carefully planned. She knew exactly what she was doing, and what dates they would occur. This could be a total windfall for Jackie. Free press right on the release of two albums and a stack of concerts and appearances to support it.
The ridiculous stance of the anti Jackie people is its their fault that they didn't get politically active, and put forward a candidate capable of beating Trump. I'm not pro Trump and I'm no fan of Michael Moore, but if Michael is Anti Trump and he could see the problem then these people need to own their failure. Not blame someone who is two young to vote and was born to sing the NA at every major event for the rest of her live. If Trumps presidency is a disaster then both sides need to own this result and stop blaming each other.
This troll issue will quickly slip away after the inauguration and the only time it will raise its head will be "The girl who sang for Trump" instead of the girl who came second in AGT. Instead of the supporting clip being a 10 year old in a red dress circa 2010, it will be a young woman, in 2016. Every headline will have Trump next to it for the next 5 years and people will read it. I'm sure Jackie is more than prepared for this, I think this will be is a good move.
When Tim Minchin looked at touring the US someone pointed out to him that 80% of the population would be opposed to the lyrical content of his performance. His reply was that the remainder was bigger than the entire Australian population. Less than 50% will be opposed to Jackie singing, they will soon be forgotten.

I`m calmed to read this article. Her decision is not a political statement and she is proud to sing the n.e. at the inauguration of any president. I think she would do it for Clinton too. So the motions should go down and what stays is the enormous honor. So I can understand her dicision but I can also understand artists who don`t want. Jackie has great courage, other artists may keep quiet not to came into discussion. I hope her democratic fans will see it with tolerance. Would be good to see Juliet beside her at the gig. After a democratic election with a hard campaign the people should come together and shake hands til the next election. Only this is good democratic behavior even if the emotions are so great. If there stays too much hate people will suffer as to see at Jackie in internet comments. Yes she has guts. She shocked her conservativ fans with AotS, now she stresses the democratic fans, she stresses her CC-fans with pop. A strong character follows his own thoughts, not the common mainstream.

These are all of her auditions for the honor of singing for the next inauguration of the next president. Even knowing she had no choice whom that is, due to no voting rights yet.
