I saw this tonight for the first time. Fernando has gotten better. I never followed Hayley, but had seen her a few times, but I did not like her performance in this duet. David Foster & Friends - The Prayer - Singapore - Hayley Westenra and Fernando Varela Nov. 2012 Fernando and Hayley's duet is not even in the same league as Fernando and Jackie's - The Prayer Agree that Jackie & Fernando's version is fantastic. But let's not forget, it was fans of Hayley who helped Jackie win the AGT YouTube contest & get onto the show. Lisa posted on their fansite at the time. Nicole at CC-UK also helped. It was an international effort, LOL. Yes that is true, and I will always be thankful for the support they gave Jackie. I see now that my post came out sounding harsh towards Hayley, that truly was not my intent. Hayley is a major talent, with a lovey voice. It is only that I believe Jackie has an extraordinaire talent to make her duets with anyone sound better than the same duet that that artist does with anyone else.

Today, this morning, there was a big suprise for me. One of the biggest German TV Station (ZDF) has a morning show, and there was a live performance of Fernando Varela (sad, that Jackie wasn't with him ). He performed the song "Gloria" and was in Berlin to promote his new album. He mentioned, that he immediatly after his perfomance will leave Berlin to fly directly to Los Angeles, because he has a performance today evening at the "2017 Grammy Museum Gala" (with dinner and concert), where David Foster will be honoured with the "Architects of Sound Award in recognition of his unparalleled contributions to Music". www.grammy.com/press-releases/16-time-grammy%C2%AE-winner-david-foster-be-honored-2017-grammy-museum-galaIt seems, and I find that is very sad, that Jackie is not invited for this event. I couldn't find any artist, who will perform at this concert. I just googled the event, and found this article by Billboard published back on June 22. I'm also sad Jackie was not invited, and more than that, I am very disappointed in Forster for not having invited Jackie. And though the article mentions many Forster worked with Jackie's name is not among them. www.billboard.com/articles/news/grammys/7841386/david-foster-honored-2017-grammy-museum-gala

“The Prayer” Gets Angelic Cover From Jackie Evancho

There are a handful of incredibly talented musicians who have covered “The Prayer” over the years. The rendition by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli is hard to beat, but Jackie Evancho and Fernando Varela give the two music icons a run for their money.
Jacki Evancho first stole the hearts of millions when she appeared on America’s Got Talent as a child in 2010. You wouldn’t expect an opera voice like hers to come out of a 10-year-old girl, but she captivated the audiences in person and at home.
Since then, she’s had records on the top of the Billboard Classical chart and has achieved several of her personal and professional goals. In 2017, she teamed up with Fernando Varela for a television special called “Coming Home.”
Fernando starts the song with his rich, soulful voice that fills the entire stadium. He sings in Italian, just like Bocelli would. It isn’t long until Evancho joins in for what ends up being a mesmerizing and jaw-dropping rendition of an already beautiful song.

Yes , all three of Jackie’s songs on this occasion were outstanding. It’s a shame that due to the pandemic her solo return engagement at the Villages had to be postponed. It’s also of interest to note that Caroline Campbell, the lead violinist, who has accompanied many of Jackie’s PBS and concert performances, has gone “all Lindsey Stirling” and stepped up to be a solo performer with the support and backing of non other than David Foster. That Foster guy has a lot of irons in the fire. I do think he will need to be a little less effusive about Jackie now that he has an “in-house” singer in Katharine Foster née McPhee on his playlist.

While he would be expected to give due consideration to Katherine, unless she's the unreasonably jealous type, Jackie long ago disarmed any potential misconstruings of matters regarding herself and DF, by calling him her "musical dad".

I was mainly referring to his promotion Jackie as a competitive singer to Katharine and choosing her over his new bride for future gigs. .My potential misconstruing had nothing to do with potential screwing. Lol.. 😉

Lol.. 😉 So was I, without being quite that direct (although in most other contexts I'd simply credit your clever pun) - by pointing out that considerations other than musical merit should be unfounded. DF has been working in the music business for 55-56 years (the latter being the sum of Katherine's and Jackie's ages), and as a producer for 39 years (i.e. since before either was born). I think his work is his primary allegiance, and compared to picking the most suitable people for a given project, any wifely advantage would be small. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if some of his working relationships have lasted longer than his personal relationships.

I believe David is 70 years of age, has been married 6 times, has won 16 Grammys and dyes his hair.. Seems likely that his musical relationships have certainly outlasted his personal ones given his uncoupling history. The financial costs associated with sub-dividing your assets every few years cannot be pretty and pain free. Even so, his guidance and support has benefited her greatly, even if as Lisa once stated “he ain’t cheap” when discussing his involvement in her performances. Hopefully, they will continue to be mutually supportive and maintain a professional relationship as Jackie moves into the next phase of her career.

I like that description, and may plagiarize it someday. :-)
