OK, i see what you are talking about if she actually introduced the song before she started singing it.

agog: "...less is more..." Agree. Also agree about possible a cappella, at least for a short number. Something like Amazing Grace (which was on PTAD IIRC) might work. Jackie just needs to add enough variety to her shows to keep interest & attendance up. And as others have said, promotion & advertising could be better.

But from Festa Italiana we had not only reports, but wonderful videos! Hope, hope Hello Schrodinger, I think you (well all of us really) will be in luck with videos and recordings from St Charles, where the venue seemed to be unconcerned with people using their devices unobtrusively. Not so at Merrillville, where I noticed the ushers/security warning a half dozen or more people that having fun was not allowed. The next few days should tell the story. Actually what I was hoping for was not just fan videos, but something like what we saw from Milwaukee- what must have been videos arranged for, or possibly done by Jackie's team, judging from the fact that they were published officially on her channel, and incorporate two steady camera angles, so two shooters, and edited together with fades, etc., but using the same good quality audio. I was hoping this was going to be a regular thing- but maybe it's still too early to give up on similar footage appearing from the recent concerts.

One thing I forgot to mention in my review. Jackie seems to have bought into the Foster myth because she said she was 8 when she met him. She was actually 9. I could be wrong, but I think one reason Foster keeps making the mistake is that he probably saw some of her earliest videos like the very first OMBC filmed when she WAS eight. (Remember that a clip from that video was included on the Elizabeth Vargas piece, for example.) In their joint interview that appears as The Making of DWM and also the shorter version on the video of DWMIC he refers to what we were seeing was just insane; he probably conflated the events in his mind.

... I still think she has to get out on her own & go to college, whether it's a regular academic one or a music conservatory. Manhattan, where she seems to want to go, should be ideal. She needs the "fertilization" for her musical mind. She's really starting over in her career, but I wouldn't be so pessimistic as to say it's over. But she's said in a recent interview that she wants to go to college to study something other than music, because "music is my life", meaning why should she "study" it since she's living it. As I remember, she's still thinking about majoring in psychology instead. PS. Sorry about repeating your thought about Jackie's age in videos sent to DF; I hadn't gotten as far as your post when I too went for the same reply!

Some people are complaining that this wasn't an all new show. They say Jackie mislead people when she said it was. It is true I have heard Jackie sing 11 of the songs live before. I was thrilled to hear them again. I don't want a show of all new songs. I want to hear some of my old favorites and I did.
The Merrilville show was outstanding. It was superb. Her show is not the reason her attendance is declining. I think that is lack of promotion.

"Some people" - would that be, by any chance, those Amazonians who seem to always look for the worst possible slant on whatever Jackie or the Team have done? Jackie didn't say, an "all" new show, if I recall. The sampler (better word than medley?) of classic songs, with piano only, was a wholly new concept. Two completely new songs, and two of her recent forays into other genre. And much more music all together, than ever before- alone with Peter doing everything, who also had new music, avoiding the slightly weird repetition of Nessun Dorma. Plenty, I think, to justify calling it "my new show".
A mix of old and new is pretty standard procedure for touring musicians. Rarely does someone do a show of ALL new stuff- and they get grief if they do, from people who wanted and expected to hear what they know and love.
I can imagine the Team is struggling to find ways to promote the shows. Why else would Lisa have asked the old forum's people if they had any ideas? With internet social media, the only people who see it are people who probably already know she's in town. When Jackie was last in Denver, she did a local morning show on TV; two friends told me they saw an ad on regular network TV- probably paid for by the CSO. I saw a newspaper ad, but how many people see those? Trouble is, Jackie isn't famous enough, that all they have to do is drop a line to all the local media, and they voluntarily scream, "THE ROLLING STONES ARE COMING TO TOWN!"

The Rolling Stones of course play their old songs. Even when they were still recording new songs, they could only fit one or two into a concert, lest fans get upset that their old favorites would be knocked off the set list. Jackie has been touring for about a tenth of the time those guys have and she already has fans like me whining because Imaginer is no longer performed.
David Bowie once said he would no longer play any old songs, that he was making a clean break. That didn't last long. The only "all new" concerts that come to mind were in the 70s when some artists had concept albums. I attended Pink Floyd's "The Wall" concert in L.A. No one complained about all the new stuff, but that was special. Doing a medley of hits to please fans, as Jackie is now doing, goes waaay back. I think it's a good idea and am greatly looking forward to hearing it at my next concert, especially since it has been reported that the songs are nearly full-length. If it were just short snippets, I'd say, don't bother. I regret that I will likely never hear a full-length version of "Vocalise" live.

Jackie's six song medley was just over 15 minutes total in length, including her brief but very touching intros to each song. She took us all on a wonderful trip down memory lane!

She somehow seems to think that studying psychology or philosophy will help her with songwriting. I have to say I hope she comes to her senses & switches to English lit & poetry, the "non-music" subjects most likely to help her with music. There's certainly nothing wrong with going to college & studying. I'd never diminish the value of a solid education.

I also don't know how the Evanchos got those videos to get them posted to Jackie's channel, but I'm happy that it all came together.

The way I see it is her "career" is on cruise control while she focuses on school and college. I suspect that this pattern will continue for the foreseeable future. If Jackie had wanted a full-time career like some other artist her age, she would have made it a priority. I am puzzled, however, by the lack of promotion for the concert tour. The only ads I see while surfing the net are for the November 27th Vets Concert in Providence. Now possibly the theater or promoter has done the internet ad buy, but it seems inconceivable to me to put such time and effort into a tour without some promotion to help ticket sales, even if locally. I have believed for years her career not on cruise but on singing in place , waiting for later years an yes perhaps Mr Foster takes over the controls to take off anew Jackie
