To those whom I consider friends and fellow advocates of Jackie's interests, I've enjoyed our interactions here. I appreciate our cordial discussions, our respectful disagreements, and thank you for your compliments. My experience here has been informative, interesting, entertaining, amusing if not hilarious, challenging at times, contentious at others, and altogether memorable. I'm proud to have represented the positive view, without judgement, supportive of Jackie's personal and professional aspirations and endeavors to discover and realize her path. As effectively as I am capable, I think I've accomplished my objective as stated in my introduction of April 6th. Time will tell when I may again be inspired to contribute. My regards to all, Christopher Many of us will miss your positive contributions, and hope you will return soon. Until then, wishing you only the best. Happy Trails.

I'm taking a peaceful vacation and won't be receiving messages or posting for a while. You'll be missed.

Hope him well, BUT I do wonder if he really was open to those of us who tended to be non members of the 24/7 mush and gush club. Pointing out concerns for JE moving forward doesn't make us any less of a fan then he is or talking positively about other artists don't make us any less loyal.

Pointing out concerns for JE moving forward doesn't make us any less of a fan then he is or talking positively about other artists don't make us any less loyal. When I was a rank newbie on the old JEFC forum, mid 2012, I started a thread named "Are there any Jackie songs you DON"T like?". It didn't go over well. I got considerable flak (but nothing really nasty) from several members; I ended up apologizing to those I called "the 100 percenters", a characterization they didn't object to at all. (This was long before the lovely phrase "mush and gush" made its appearance) As my post to start the thread, I nominated the National Anthem, stating that I felt as basically a paean of victory in battle, it demanded a more committed style; Jackie tried to make it beautiful. She called it "a pretty song" in one of her post-inauguration interviews. I find I have come around towards the point of view of the 100%ers. I am a fan. Jackie's voice, and the way she uses it, does something for me; I want to hear her apply it to everything she is inspired to do. I do like some things more than others, of course; Blank Space would now be at the bottom of my list, but even it I listen to now and then. I retain my opinion about the SSB; but though I think other interpretations more appropriate (though not many) I listen to Jackie's versions from that time and since, over and again, with appreciation and pleasure; I don't do that with any other's version- them I listen to once, think "that was well done" and might never listen to it again. Similarly, I like very much Two Hearts, including disc 2. Those critics who used to say, "everything sounds the same" can no longer say that. I think they are very well produced, interesting both musically and lyrically, much more dynamic than most contemporary music that gets wide popularity; and Jackie's voice and treatment are fascinating. They work really well as variety in a random shuffle on a long drive mixed with her more heart-rendingly beautiful pieces.

I remember when you started that thread on the old site. At the time i thought that if you didn't like one of Jackie's songs, you just haven't listened to it often enough. That is still my opinion.

Fare well, and may you find a place with only sunny days.

Christopher didn't count on guests and guest posts he didn't like, now will show up on all the regular forum boards/threads when those guests become regular forum members. Or course both members and guests both need to play by the rules to their posts don't get deleted. Fair enough.

Instead of the mutual admiration society talking about how patriotic they all are, let's respond to this instead...

Is it against a rule to post just the Headline of major breaking news stories in the Announcement Thread, and in Shoutbox?

Is it against a rule to post just the Headline of major breaking news in the Announcement Thread, and in Shoutbox? At first glance I thought those were politics, but maybe I was hasty. You may post them again.

You may post them again. Having said that, I would't cancel those posts; but if it were me, I'd want Announcements limited to something remotely related to Jackie or this board, or at least close enough to be convincingly relevant, unless it was initial mention of a news event (all too often a bad one, sadly) that was of widespread, compelling, and non-partisan interest...which most of the mentions of what amounts to political maneuvering and cheap shots (or alternative perspectives, depending on how one looks at it) are IMO _not_. Otherwise, since Announcements IMO isn't really the place for follow-on discussion, it ends up being a way for people to cherry-pick events so that they get the last word on something probably a bit slanted. Although one of the people that's IMO nearly spamming Announcements is at least posting some that could appeal to different sides. I'm as fond of making political remarks (or more accurately, of responding to those I disagree with) as anyone, but there's always the Amazon refugee board for that, so were it me, I'd rather keep the camel's nose _out_ of the tent here. :-) Just an opinion, something to think about...

Is it against a rule to post just the Headline of major breaking news stories in the Announcement Thread, and in Shoutbox? It's where it ends up... political disagreements, as it just did with your last two posts which I deleted. There is nothing about those headlines remotely relating to Jackie, her career or performances, and in my opinion, they are being posted for only one reason, to make a political statement. I know you figured out a way around the language filter, but the no politics rule means just that, and it will be enforced.

This thread is for news (announcements) relating to Jackie or the forum. Anything else is spam and will be deleted.
I moved Busby's post about the dying little girl wanting Christmas cards here and it will stay here. I couldn't think of any other place for it.

I am thinking about canceling my subscription that makes the forum ad-free. Perhaps there is someone else who would be willing to take it over for awhile. You can buy a minimal page-view subscription for $6. By January of this year I had opted for additional page-views, increasing the cost to $18/month. That worked better, but soon the page-view limit was being reached and ads would reappear towards the end of the month. For May, I increased the page-view maximum again; below is a record of what it cost- the charge on the first of each month reflects the page-views of the forum for the preceding month:
