It will be fascinating to learn the favourite composers of members of this forum. For me, my favourite composers will have to be Mahler (for his symphonies), Chopin, Haydn, Rachmaninov and Bach.

For classical composers, Beethoven. For opera, Puccini.

Impossible to answer, my mood varies so much. I could make a list, I suppose - starting somewhere around Domenico Scarlatti, and ending somewhere around Joni Mitchell. After that I mostly stopped taking in new stuff, until Jackie came along. She kind of woke me up to music exploration again, and I discovered that there are many, many talented musicians and writers out there, right now - maybe more than ever before. Unfortunately, most of them don't get played on the radio.

My favorite classical composers are Mozart and Puccini. I love Pachelbel's Canon in D. My favorite other composers are Neil Diamond, John Denver, and Bob Seger.

I've listened to classical music since I was a kid, but I am still discovering composers whose work I had neglected or simply not known about. The Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara recently passed away.
The other night I was lying in bed listening to my classical station play this great music, wondering what it was. Turned out to be Bernard Hermann's score for "Vertigo". I've watched that film numerous times, own the DVD, but had never listened to the score without watching James Stewart and Kim Novak on the screen.

I have also listened to classical music since I was young. Over the years, the love and respect for it have increased as I discovered and learnt to appreciate so much more. I have to admit neglecting some composers like Rautavaara too. I have listened to his symphonies and other pieces several times, but I am often distracted by other composers like Bruckner or Rachmaninov.
Moving on to a happier subject, the legendary violinist, Itzhak Perlman celebrated his 71st birthday yesterday.

I noticed that over the past year or so, Jackie and Itzhak Perlman have played some of the same venues. He's my favorite violinist. I go to him for the Mendelssohn concerto. He seems like such a cool guy, too. I know at least one cause that he and Jackie both support. It would be great if they performed together. I assume that Jackie and Joshua Bell recorded their tracks separately for MHWGO.

For me, the best rendition of the Mendelssohn concerto has to be Heifetz's. I love Perlman's rendition of the Beethoven concerto though and find it absolutely splendid. On the subject of Jackie performing with Itzhak Perlman, that will be an absolute dream come true. Not that much of an impossible dream considering Jackie's excellent and illustrious record of duet partners

She comes daily only to pet, I don`t feed her. It`s a special kind of harmony between two such different species. Sometimes we look full in the face, scarce at cats. I`ve no idea what is going on in her brain but there must be a consciousness. There comes another cat with a very different caracter who looks for food only.
