I'm not qualified to comment on Chris's technique as I personally can't carry a tune in a bucket, but his performance is not as good as I think it should be to share the stage with Jackie!

I really enjoyed Jackie's part in this video. She seemed more at ease than Chris. BTW, I think his voice might be better suited for the Phantom than Raoul. See for yourself in this MOtN video: I still prefer Jackie doing MOtN

I'm also stunned once again at how incredibly beautiful Jackie's voice is. Every time you think it can't get any better, it does.

2 spectacular duets preserved! Now, I anxiously await my favorite of the 3, the one that had me melting into the seat!

Spine-tingling. That seems to have been a good concert hall. Nothing better than hearing Jackie's voice in a good venue.

At ~2:22, you can overhear an usher coming over asking the videographer not to take vids. Mike says "I'm her dad" & evidently that does the trick, LOL... I agree with others, it is indeed spine-tingling. BTW, I think I might recognize a couple of Jackie fans from the backs of their heads...

All I Ask Of You. Jackie and Chris Mann. I don't like his voice at all.
I have to agree with you Rick about CMs voice as a match with Jackie's. That said, I'm very happy to have the video. I too am satisfied with Chris Mann's voice, especially on Say Something. I think part of your problem is that he played the part of The Phantom and not Raoul so his voice is more suited to that role; I'd like to have heard his MOTN. I wonder why they didn't also perform Hallelujah as a duet??? Edit: I wrote this before I read believer's post; it seems we both had the same thoughts!

MOTN & the Phantom Main Theme could both have been duets. Maybe Chris & Jackie will perform again together in the future... You never know.

Though, they might tell me I'm too ugly to be Jackie's dad. Re backs of fans' heads: The first time I saw myself on YouTube, I was giving Jackie a SO after Imaginer in Phoenix. First thing I thought was, where did I get those skinny old man arms?

First thing I thought was, where did I get those skinny old man arms? On the "All I Ask of You" video, I see the back of my head, as well as a few other faithful fans' heads. At my first concert, Nov 14 2012, Grand Prairie TX, there's an amazing video of "Music of the Night" out there. You can see my head pop up just to the left of the monitor at the start of the standing ovation. The key moment for me personally that followed that unfortunately did not get preserved. The one who took the video said that heads & backs got in the way, which is why the video (but not the audio) switched to pictures.

The Gaillard Center in Charleston is absolutely beautiful!!! It reminds me so much of the Palladium in Carmel, IN, which is still my favorite venue of all that I have been in (for any event). But this one is definitely a close 2nd. The outside of it is beautiful, the lobby area is very nice, and inside the theater is beyond description! If you ever get a chance to attend anything here, do it.
Before the concert began, we heard that there would be an opening act. I knew that meant that Chris Mann would be opening the show. I wasn't sure how long he would be out there. I was just hoping it wouldn't be too long, because we didn't want too much of Jackie's time to get cut out. Chris had a piano player with him, and his computer quit on him after the first song. I was hoping that Peter's computer was still alright. We would find out later that Peter's was fine. But Chris had to continue along with just the piano to accompany him, but he made it work.
In April 2015, I saw Chris Mann perform as the Phantom in my home town of Tulsa. I went to 2 shows, then 3 days after the 2nd show, I went to Jackie's concert in Shippensburg, PA. Tonight, I was getting to hear both of them on the same night. Chris did great as the Phantom, although Gerard Butler from the 2004 movie has been my favorite, especially in regards to the voice. But Chris is still a great singer. We all love Jackie's version of every song more than anyone else's (naturally), but in this case, it did seem appropriate for Chris to be the one to sing "Music of the Night". It is the Phantom's solo, and it might have been difficult & too time-consuming to arrange it as a duet. He mentioned how nice it was to get to perform on stage without the mask, the covering over his head, and the whole get-up which makes him sweat so much. Chris also sang a couple other Jackie songs, "When I Fall in Love" & "Hallelujah". Perhaps "Hallelujah" wasn't done as a duet just because it usually isn't sung as a duet, so Chris might have needed a lot of practice to learn it as a duet. The 3 that they did are commonly duets, so Chris probably already knew how to do them as duets. I wasn't keeping track of his whole set list well enough to know for sure the order of the songs, nor did I recognize 2 different versions of "All of Me". If that was done, then it never occurred to me that he was doing the same song again in a different way.
Soon enough, it was Jackie's turn. In her first round of songs, she sang "Think of Me". That is a Christine solo near the beginning of Phantom of the Opera, so it was perfect placement, and I was happy to hear the full version of this song again. After Peter's instrumental, Chris joined Jackie on stage, and she said that they would be singing a song that she sang with Cheyenne Jackson at Longwood Gardens. Those of us who knew got very excited, knowing that we would be hearing "Say Something". I loved her version with Cheyenne. I might have loved her version with Chris even better! I thought their voices blended together perfectly, and I did feel that Chris was letting Jackie's voice be prominent in their solos. He did seem to be a very humble & respectful man. He seemed very blown away by the reactions & standing ovations from the crowd, and he gave special attention to one very sweet lady in the front row who seemed to be a big fan of his. Jackie finished up the first half with "Nessun Dorma", which drew a big reaction & standing ovation. Jackie had said that she likes seeing the looks on people's faces at the end of the song.
In the 2nd half, I was happy to see that Jackie kept "Safe & Sound" in the program. That is my favorite of her more recent songs. She did have to cut out a few songs, because of Chris' solo time & the duets. A small price to pay for such a unique & special night! After Peter's instrumental from Carman, Jackie did her medley. It was 4 songs instead of 6, because 2 of the original 6 were being done in full versions at other times in the concert. I never tire of hearing Jackie sing "O Mio Babbino Caro", whether in part or in full.
Now, for my ultimate highlight of the night! After the medley, Chris once again joined Jackie on stage. This time, they would be singing "The Prayer", or "A Mother's Prayer", whichever title you prefer. I looked it up to confirm what I always thought, that it is the same song. I have heard some fans say that they love this song so much, no matter who sings it. I have to be honest in saying that it's never been a favorite for me. Not that I dislike it in any way, it just has never been a stand-out song. Nothing to do with the lyrics, which are great, but more to do with just the sound of the music/melody/harmony, which I have always thought are not bad but not great. I should also note that I never attended a concert where Jackie sang this song with Josh Page. I have seen a youtube video of them, but until after this concert, I always thought that was a one-time thing. I had no clue that he was singing that song with her at every concert for quite awhile. My first concert was November 14, 2012. I'm at my 4-year anniversary! So missing out on all those duets with Josh might have influenced just how incredibly blown away I was, hearing Jackie & Chris sing this song together. I am totally turned around on this song now! I loved how they (mostly Chris) would sing it in a foreign language (I don't know which, as I barely know English) at different points. Chris' & Jackie's voices blended together so perfectly in this song. As the song continued to build, I was just melting into my seat. I kept saying, under my breath, "WOW" & "Oh my gosh". I almost leaped through the roof out of my seat at the end of the song. They blew the roof of the place! I think both Chris & Jackie were genuinely surprised at how enthusiastic the crowd reaction was.
How to follow that?! They followed it with another duet, the one that would be such a huge thing for Jackie, with "All I Ask of You". They did such a beautiful job singing that together. And for those that may not know (which we probably all do), this is the big duet in Phantom of the Opera, which was the biggest inspiration for Jackie to start singing at a young age. She has always dreamed of playing Christine, so to get to sing this amazing duet with a former Phantom was a partial fulfillment of a dream for Jackie. She said something like that after Chris had left the stage. This clearly meant so much to her! As a side note, in Phantom, it's actually Raoul who sings this with Christine & not the Phantom, but who cares! Jackie still got to sing it with a star from the play, and that song does get reprised in part a few more times after the duet, including by the Phantom.
After these amazing duets, which had already cemented this night as such a special & landmark concert, Jackie closed with "Lovers", then the encore of "The Lord's Prayer". The concert lasted 2.5 hours in total, and it did include the orchestra string section, after the Midwest 3-peat last month didn't. The string players were basically out there from 8:00-10:00, fitting in that 2 hour timeframe, which I have always wondered if it might be a contracted time limit. This was indeed such a great concert to be at! Well worth the flight halfway across the country! I cannot wait until my next Jackie concert! A few of us took the next day to explore downtown Charleston & Fort Sumter, which were great experiences!
For those that may not have loved Chris' voice as much as I did, that's just simply a difference of opinion. I thought that he & their 2 voices together were amazing! Keep in mind that having Chris on stage with Jackie meant a great deal to Jackie. She totally loved it, and that's what's most important.
