She has visited China twice to perform for an audience of 165,000,000 and met other exceptionally talented people from around the world, not to mention the fun she has had doing it? I wouldn't consider it a "need" or a "shame", but a well deserved opportunity for direct foreign exposure and expanded life experience. Whether she advances farther or not is not as important as having demonstrated her talent and skill as a vocalist to a new audience. It would have been even better if JE had performed to an international audience without being one of the contestants. Perhaps, if that were possible. But, performing twice for this audience of 165 million WAS made possible because Jackie is a contestant, and therein lies the value of her participating in the competition, the results of which are less important than the opportunity for exposure of that magnitude. Surely, you wouldn't suggest she should have rejected it, unless you feel she doesn't have the talent and voice to measure up to the event. If that were true, no venue anywhere in the world with a comparable audience would present her any more desirable. But, she does have the voice and the talent to warrant any opportunity to share her artistry with the world in any measure from several hundred at a time to millions at once, as this visit to China has demonstrated. We don't know yet what response may come from this, but it certainly won't be negative.

Simply stupefying how some can be so vocal and critical of a performer and her associates for not seeking more media attention then when the performer gets that attention in a big way they find new room for being critical about the attention be given the performer.
I guess some peeps just find a need to step upon their soapbox and trump-et their noise.

It's actually a complement that someone like Jackie with that sort of talent and years of experience shouldn't have to waste her time competing to garner this sort of attention. Emily Bear certainly didn't need to be a competitor on these sort of shows to garner boat loads of attention from the entertainment industry.

No performance is a "waste of time" for Jackie who loves to entertain whomever, wherever, whenever, and for whatever reason she chooses. Any attention she "garners" is what gives her satisfaction, whether she sings two hours for 150 at Feinsteins/54 Below or two minutes for 150 million Chinese.

OTOH, Emily has even fewer followers on social media than Jackie whose numbers you have commented on, and her Proboards page gets very few posts as you know. Both deserve much more attention.

Going on as a guest performer is perfectly fine, but going on as a competitor just seems to me to look rather desperate for international attention at this stage of her career. These wheels should have been changed several years ago.

It is my understanding that she did not compose any music for A Dog's Journey. Mark Isham did. She is playing the piano. See the fifth of the six pictures in the Instagram which you most recently posted on the Emily Bear thread. Isham is on the right in the 2nd of the pictures.
She did compose the two songs which she sang for the Nancy Drew movie.

These wheels should have been changed several years ago. Jackie has been enjoying herself working and performing in China, as have all the other contestants. It isn't the prize that matters, because no one's talent is diminished by not winning #1 place. It's the experience of meeting influential people, making new friendships, the exposure to a million and a half people, visiting Changsha and "the fun of it all" that make it worth while for each of them. If you think it's beneath her, then it's beneath them all. Obviously, neither she nor the others think it's a "waste of their time and talent", as you do. There's nothing "desperate" about professionals having a friendly competition to entertain the Chinese TV audience. Relax and enjoy the show. I've entertained this discussion long enough.

Paul Potts sang on this week's show (5/17). He sang Parla Piu Piano doing a fantastic job. During the talk after, he sang a Chinese song to try to endear himself to the audience. However, Paul was not sent through to the semi-finals. The audience chose a group of kids that performed with the diabolo which in the US is commonly called the Chinese yo-yo. It is something like a 2000 year-old art. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diabolo1The judges picked a group that combined some magic with performance art known as Magus Utopia. They were on 2018 Britain's Got Talent and also got to the semi-finals. They were smart to put together an act that incorporated ancient Chinese soldiers and other related things which paid off for them. www.magusutopia.com/Here they are performing a show in Asia in 2016 at the Chimelong Circus Festival. It was targeted for that audience as was their World's Got Talent performance.

A video posted yesterday by "Got Talent Global". It's a combination of Jackie's introduction and her performance. Nearly 11 minutes long.

I wish JE had just been a guest instead of a competitor on that show. Hopefully she got something positive out of it.
