Julia, last summer Jackie and her family went on vacation in North Carolina after Dewey Beach, remember. They rode horses on a path in the woods. There was a video, but I can't find it. Okay, Rick, but that doesn't an experienced rider make. Lots novices go on trail rides on vacation. Were there pix of them going faster than a walk? Not saying Jackie couldn't be. Anybody can be a recreational rider with lessons. Even me and have been. Just pushing back against the idea still often seen here, that Jackie somehow has multiple talents, other than singing without any real evidence. I wish she were a fine athlete, a promising artist a sensitive poet and a deeply engaged student of music. If it turns out all or any of these things are true, I will be the first to cheer.

Julia, One's having "talent" does not relate to experience but to natural ability and potential. With regard to Jackie having taken riding lessons and from what was apparent to me is that she either is or could be a good English rider. A beginner does not sit a horse as well as Jackie does, demonstrated in the photo. As an artist myself, I can see from Jackie's watercolor and drawings that she has artistic talent. Her execution of the "Eye" is excellent. It is an example of good technique, varied line, good composition and color balance, skills that come from having natural talent at a young age. To what degree she pursues her talents is a matter of dedication. Jackie appears to have several though not necessarily developed fully. Therefore I say with confidence that Jackie is naturally talented, which one would expect of a prodigy, and has explored a few with a certain conviction. We see only what she has revealed. Time will tell how far she has developed them and what others she may possess. Jackie is, in my estimation, one of those multi-talented individuals who will dedicate herself to those that provide the satisfaction she seeks and will explore those that inspire her. It wouldn't be expected that she would be highly accomplished at anything at age 17 or 18. Edit: Look at people who have demonstrated that they are multi-talented. They can act, sing, dance, paint and write. That's the way they are, gifted with natural abilities. They are those diversified celebrities we have known and have yet to know.

Great performance. Some Opera purists won't like the mixing of the two arias but it works. David Foster is kind of "marking his own homework" in judging her but she deserves it.
For the next round I hope she sings a traditional Chinese song. She did a Japanese song with Moon Over Ruined Castle in Japan. Would love it if she shows her intuitive gifts for musical interpretation and performs something Chinese.

Great news, this strongly implies that round 2 of WGT will be filmed soon. I wonder what she'll be singing.

Audio recording of Jackie's performance. Like it was broadcast from the Met.
"Jackie advanced to the next round of the competition with that performance, for 160 million viewers. By comparison AGT has 15 million viewers on a good day. In 3 months she'll get 1/2 a billion social media views in China for that work." -YouTube comment

Wonder if Jackie will get to meet Jane Zhang who was called by Oprah "The Chinese Pop Diva"?
Jane has had dozens of number 1 singles in China with hundreds of millions of fans. One show in China on TV was watched by 400 million people! Jane was signed by Sony Music in 2015. For the movie Terminator Genisys she sang "Fighting Shadows" which became her first released English-language single in the US. She has been a judge on TV music shows in China.
Here she sings the very difficult song sung by the Diva in the fantastic movie The Fifth Element. What makes this impressive is that this was sung live while the second half of the song in the movie with the really high notes was overdubbed with a synthesized voice.
Next we have Jane at a Japanese concert singing "All of Me" written by John Legend.
Here she is singing "Battlefield" from The Great Wall movie which stars Matt Damon and a cast of thousands.

Wonder if Jackie will sing "Music of the Night" or a Phantom of the Opera medley? That gown Jackie is seen wearing is suggesting classical and possibly Phantom of the Opera.
I always liked her "Caruso" version but I imagine that may not necessarily fly. However the Chinese are into Italian. My friend in Tuscany, Italy owns an Italian high-end custom designed clothing and home goods company that sells into China. This stuff is not cheap especially the custom designed stuff.
If she does get through to the finals would Jackie throw a curve ball and do Broadway songs? Hopefully she does get through and has that conundrum to ponder and decide what to do.
