This thread is in response to an exchange in the shout box.
Here it is:
eulenspiegel: I am far from a eliticist - but as a great carpenter like every craftsmen really has to learn it's craft..same for musicians
agog: Then it should be no problem to train some girls to have Jackie's INCOMPARABLE beauty of voice.
anonymous: agog, a lot of singers have fans who believe they have INCOMPARABLE beauty of voice. Just because you believe that of Jackie does not make it a fact, it's your opinion.
cer: I think Jackie has a beautiful voice, but I get it's only my opinion.

I recall a thread on the old JEFC where one fan posted audio diagrams of Jackie's voice. The sound engineers who made them and analysed them said they never saw such symmetry in a human voice. Jackie's voice.

Of course Anonymous and Cer are correct in saying The beauty of Jackie's voice is my opinion. It's long been noted that "Beauty is in the eye, or in this case ear, of the beholder."
To me Jackie's voice IS incomparable. Never before in my life have I joined a celebrity's fan club. I've read this holds true for many Jackie fans.
I recall the Jackievets thread at the old, deleted, JEFC. Gary, aka Jackie Vet #1, aka Gmoney, a former Marine Corp combat officer who works with dying veterans at the Phoenix, Arizona VA hospital, told us of (I can't remember the dear lady's name, please help if you do remember [EDIT: Grace. Her name was Grace.]), who was a ferry pilot of B-17 bombers with the WAAF's (Woman's Auxiliary Air Force) and later an engineer in a time when women didn't do such things, dying alone, being widowed, with two slug sons who never visited her having raided and depleted her one time adequate savings. She was dying alone after a life of accomplishment. She was inconsolable, listless and resigned to her lot. UNTIL Gary played a Jackie cd for her. She fell in love with Jackie and Jackie's voice instantly. Jackie extended that woman's life by several months. Several meaningful months where she found joy. Jackie's voice.
Gary regaled us with tales of all the dying vets on his ward taking interest in Jackie videos. There was even a Jackie Evancho night each week where a room was cleared and all the vets who were able to do so watched Jackie videos and had discussions after. Gary told us the doctors and nursing staff hovered around the doorway as their duties would allow. Jackie's voice.

Other singers also have remarkable voices. Some are scratchy and still remarkable. Some are smooth and still remarkable. But Jackie's voice in the only voice that is Jackie's voice.
Any thoughts?

Never before in my life have I joined a celebrity's fan club. I've read this holds true for many Jackie fans. That's true for me, agog. Of all the "beautiful" voices I have admired and enjoyed from pop to classical, none but Jackie's had affected me so profoundly. So taken with the ethereal beauty, the sheer elegance of her tonal quality and the natural unaffected manner with which she evoked my passion, I found myself transformed, intoxicated if you will, by the experience. For the first and only time in my life, I was compelled to contribute in any way I can to promoting and supporting an artist, Jackie, in return for the rare gift I received and continue to receive from her singing.

I don't know, where I read this article, but I copied it to my notebook:
"We have an algorithm program at MIT... and we set it to notes on vocal tone and pitch... this girl came out to 99.3 percent average per note....... that was the highest grade out of over a hundred opera and classical crossover singers of any era....... her voice is unreal.... she had minus zero -0 grade on most of her undertones and highs... the minus sign pops up when the computer cannot gauge the note itself... that means lol... that her voice is more exact than the computer...... her gift is not of this world"
But that is not the reason, why I felt in love with Jackie's voice. It's something, I can't describe, as so many of us, who follow here since she popped up at AGT. It's simply Jackie's voice which runs deep in my heart. That's it.

Jackie isn't just a pretty voice, pretty face, etc. According to DF she has a pretty smart brain. Think about it. She hops on a plane and flies across the country. Works with a full orchestra, what, maybe two or three times and sings nearly 20 songs. I may have mentioned before I was a church organist and/or choir director over 40 years. We started our Christmas program in August or September for maybe 10 - 12 songs, with books. How does she 1) remember all those words, 2) stay with a new maestro, flawlessly and still sound so good. Working with Peter and 8 locals is one thing but this is an all new level of brainiacting. Bravo Miss Evancho. I applaud you.

I think Shirley Bassey's voice is the only voice that is Bassey's voice. So, yeah there are voices out there that are truly unique. So, Jackie is definitely not alone when it comes to having a unique voice.

So far, one thinks Jackie is just another "unique" voice. I don't know if that's better than "pretty" or not. I think the question is too difficult for cer.

I don’t understand the wisdom in joining a forum of a singer just to disagree with that singers fans about her voice. No other artist’s fan group would tolerate that. Both forums are anti forum in every aspect. It’s also completely unacceptable to say that Jackie hasn’t worked very hard.

Both forums are anti forum in every aspect. It’s also completely unacceptable to say that Jackie hasn’t worked very hard. IMO, the problem is that there is a continuum of possible statements that one can make about Jackie or anyone else, from completely over the top to complete hate ("under the bottom" ). Where should the line be drawn? That is very hard to do.
I thought that there was nothing wrong about posting that one was concerned about Jackie drinking at the Sugar Factory, but I now think it matters exactly what one writes, and others have different opinions. I don't think that one can only state that Jackie is the greatest singer in the history of the galaxy.
There are continuums about mostly anything. Admin just stated that it is OK to talk about the Civil War and Vietnam. So, where is the line? Is talking about Trump's first year OK too? I think not, but ... If one can talk about the Vietnam war, can we discuss why a certain person did not serve there?

Ursus, To my knowledge, no one here has an exaggerated opinion of Jackie's voice. When one objects to the vocabulary another uses in an attempt to describe his impression, such as "exquisite", "enchanting", "mesmerizing, etc. when words seem inadequate to ones experience, labeling him/her "OTT" or "mush and gush", is where a line should be drawn. That is not disagreeing, but rather, it is ridiculing. No one can make a determination about another's experience, nor has he a right to humiliate another for what he thinks and feels because one doesn't share that experience. Ridiculing in such a manner is a demonstration that one himself has a mediocre opinion at best. "Beautiful", "unique" or "pretty" are generic adjectives that express nothing out of the ordinary, and seem the limit of one's appreciation, and therefore the extent of his tolerance. Anything beyond that seems to trigger disdain. In support of msims, it's apparent that one with such a disposition is here with a purpose to be disagreeable and therefore not in support of the fan community, but in opposition to it. One in particular is rather smug in his right to speak his mind to those who "should develop a tough skin".
