Don't forget to put the Spoiler warning!
This post contains details about an upcoming episode of America's Got Talent.
First up tonight from Australias Got talent was Cosentino. I enjoyed the unique presentation and aesthetic but it was what youd expect from a danger act otherwise
Next up, was Jackie Evancho. I'm kinda surprised she was put in this spot considering her success. Her performance was good, but otherwise average for the night.
Third up was Colin Cloud. This act was my favorite by him and a step up from his past performances. It incorporated the audience wearing masks and a surprise appearance from David Hasslehoff
Fourth was Sons of Serendip. I was pleasantly surprised by their addition, and they performed the song they did for their original audition, Somewhere Only We know. Overall had great reception from Simon and judges.
Fifth was Kseniya Simonova, Sand Artist and winner of Ukraines got talent. Going into the show I had know idea who she was, but her performance was stunning, and easily one of the best performances I have ever seen on any got talent show, period.
Sixth was Tokio Meyers, who also did a much more dramatic and produced version of his BGT audition, Bloodstream. This was amazing, although slightly cut short.
Seventh was Sal Valentenetti, and he definitely put on his show. His vocals showed improvement and the song was entertaining.
Eighth up was Lost Voice Guy, Comedian and winner of BGT 2018. His performance was consistent with his BGT performances and was hilarious.
Ninth was Shin Lim. He performed an extended version of his Judge cuts act, and he floored the judges and audience. Everyone was left in shock.
Last up was Attraction, winner of BGT. I was very excited to see that they were actually brought on for this show. Their performance was flawless, moved you emotionally, had humor, and was one of the best of the night
RESULTS:
KSENIYA SIMONOVA ADVANCES BY TERRYS GB.
First set of 3 called up are the 3 BGT Winners, Attraction, Tokio, and Lost Voice Guy. Attraction advances to top 3.
Up next was Colin Cloud, Cosentino, and Shin Lim. To nobody's surprise, Shin advanced.
Last up were Sons of serendip, Jackie Evancho, and Sal. Sons of Serendip advance
In third, we have Sons of serendip, leaving Attraction and Shin.
SHIN LIM ADVANCES ALONGSIDE KSENIYA
Tbh this show was stacked, with 5 winners. This definitely showed that the format should allow for more than 2, as Attraction DEFINITELY deserved a spot. Terry spoke on the finale saying it would be the top 10 acts, but also teased a twist "nobody would see coming"

Because of her history with AGT from her first appearance and then with three guest appearances, I'm sure Jackie felt obligated to participate. I doubt she had great expectations, considering competition with successful past and recent winners and new attractions. After all, it's been eight years since Jackie had her day (as a runner-up). It came down to Jackie's performance which didn't take her forward. That's the way it is. Let's not make judgments and start another round of blaming. It's not a career-breaking event, unless you want to convince yourself it is. Just move forward with her, offering your support and encouragement. Jackie isn't going to have some great revelation and suddenly change her management structure as some of you would want. Maybe it's time to let go of the resentments and animosity and quit expecting Jackie to be a super star and blaming her parents because she hasn't met your expectations. Be a fan, buy her albums and attend her concerts when you can. She's young, adventurous and loves to sing, with an extraordinarily beautiful voice and will always have something to offer. Just appreciate it and be there for her.

Right now this sounds like a step backwards, not a step moving forward. Oh well, on to her new album release date whenever that is officially going to be.

She was 10 at the AGT final in September 2010, and those that remember back those 8 years will not relate to the 18 year old that has taken her place! As the old song says "The thrill is gone!". Jackie's childish pull on the heartstrings back then, has morphed into a stunning female with a voice to match. I have to agree with those who opined that this was a huge mistake putting Jackie as an adult, back into a spotlight she shared as a child. But, fortunately, this too will pass, and, IMO, will have no affect on the brisk sales she's experiencing today. Hopefully, a lesson learned!

The fact that a couple of under 18 yo kids outshined her in this competition doesn't help either. However, long term, she'll be fine. :-)

Hopefully, it will indeed pass. It just seems like Team Evancho has made a number of decisions which, let us say, have not helped her career.
Jackie should not allow herself to be cannon fodder. I agree that she probably did it out of loyalty. Loyalty is an honorable trait, but it has hurt her before, and may hurt her here again.

It won't hurt her career, but her pride is another story. I can't imagine that she anticipated the results. Why a professional singer would put themselves in such an awful position is beyond me.

Because Jackie was hoping to win and get great PR from it and give a new boost to her career. Just like everyone else. Win some, lose some. The only thing I disagree with Lawrence about is that "loyalty" had anything to do with it. It was business, just as it was for Simon. Unless his meaning was that Jackie felt loyalty to her parent's advice to do it. Of course, we really don't know if they were in favor of it.

As parents they have the best intentions for their daughter and that is the problem, what's good for Jackie the normal kid isn't necessarily what's best for Jackie the professional singer.

I'll try to respond to the above replies.
I said Jackie "probably felt obligated to participate", not "loyal" to anyone. Maybe she felt between a rock and a hard place. Of course she wanted the exposure, but I don't think she expected to win. She knows she doesn't have the Wow factor that made her famous as a child. It seems to have been a mistake because of the result. Jackie simply didn't perform well enough to impress, or her competitors at the time had more appealing acts (we don't know). Had she moved on, this might be a different conversation. Jackie didn't perform well at the inauguration (seemingly). That was a difficult decision for her, but she took the path she felt was appropriate. You can say that was a bad decision. But, what if she had Wowed the world? It would have been a different story, no doubt, at least with regard to her performance (politics aside).
To wonder why any "professional singer would put themselves in such an awful position" is to preclude that they all had something to lose, not just Jackie. Singers have been an integral part of AGT, so they must be as responsive as any other kind of professional entertainer. There can be only one winner. So, was it foolish or a mistake for anyone, regardless of their "act", to compete?
