I listen to a lot of different music, different genres and artists. Jackie is one of them. I didn't come to this site to bash her, she has her own reasons for doing what she does. If you don't like what you hear, try another web site.
Does anyone remember an adamant Jackie critic and classical "expert" named "German" who was banned a while ago? He would interject his scathing comments on various threads and disrupt the shoutbox with his propaganda. I think he has returned as eulenspiegel. He initially registered as Helmut, then immediately changed it to this username. I happened to be on line at the time. His initial posts were on Other Artists. Let him refute it.

- O bambino caro sounded nice for a 10 year old but compared to a real trained opera singer... As you mentioned in your jiber jaber Jackie has NO interest in being an opera singer, so "compared to a real trained opera singer" is a non-issue. But if asked, the truth is many more people will tell you, they like the more beautiful tone of not only 10 year old Jackie, but also the vastly improved vioce of 18 year old Jackie, than that of "real trained" opera singers. The bottom line is Jackie doesn't want to be an OPERA singer, and never has wanted to be one! Fans should just except that.

O bambino caro sounded nice for a 10 year old but compared to a real trained opera singer...there is so much lack of technique. The thing about criticism is anyone who criticizes Jackie is elevated to God-like status and you cant refute any criticism or you are labeled as OTT, mush and gush but what if there is a way to refute things and have a discussion without any labeling? Possible? Guess not.
Your base example of CC is Sarah Brightman (who btw I saw her a week or so ago at the cinema), well Sarah is very much a trained soprano who works with Opera Coaches. Not defending her I just like facts. The same has been said about Bocelli, Opera Critics find him to be lacking in technique but his success is the gold standard. You hit the nail on the head, folks found her interpretation of OMBC as "nice". Whether she has endless years of technique behind it is not a concern. She went viral and sold 3m units based on age and that "nice" voice along with some good songs. There are others who might sing nice but haven't even been signed much less sold albums. What raised the alarm of critics was concern for her voice, she has maintained it and grown stronger. Critics don't like to mention that and we aren't supposed to say that, right? You have a bias against CC (we all have our biases) and its ironic cuz in germany TTSG sold buckets there. I purposely took out your examples of CC because I think there are better examples of CC although your definition is correct. Even Jackie's owns fans don't cite the correct definition. So we agree. Jackie is not a fly in the pan in my mind and I think she has worked hard in her genre and with her voice to some extent although its probably not hard for her (this album though seems pretty hard). CC is about innovation and I think Sarah has taught her that. I understand it though that you don't find it to be innovative to take a piece of music and not sing it as written but crossover singers aren't burdened by that because its about the beauty of the voice.
No question though its about hard work and I think the amount of touring she does is not easy by any stretch. We will see.

I really hope she knows what she is doing - singing this new epic song - the stakes are very high Defying Gravity sounds like a Groban song. Also Falling Slowly should be a Slam Dunk, from Once.
If she were only going to music school where she would be surrounded by young talent in all phases of the music business, then she couldn't help but meet them. But Jackie seems content swaddled in her family cocoon. I understand that because Jackie didn't do things the formal way that it somehow cancels out her experience with Critics. But Jackie has gone to music school, she has surrounded herself with those with decades of experience and do you think they haven't tried to impart their knowledge or she hasn't asked questions? Why should she have to go to school for music when shes gotten a full education at this point? Of course her voice need to be worked on like any singer. Has to be maintained. Also if Jackie was only making little videos of little covers without a label or gigs but possibly a go fund me page then id agree with the "cocoon" comment but it just doesn't apply to Jackie as really what input does her family provide other than song choices and some management? I think the only thing that has cocooned her is her age, more so than anything else.

IMHO she benefitted from the assistance and I think continued with her for a while. There are things like when to breathe that could easily be improved (from what I have read. I am not an expert.) Lisa was afraid that a teacher would harm Jackie's voice. Carefully choosing teachers should remove that concern.
I do think that Jackie's voice has been improving with experience, but she could use some help. I see other young musicians like Emily Bear benefitting from teaching and Jackie could too.

Jackie has had coaching as we can hear and see the results but there is a tendency to only go by what has been said publicly. I think there is a rationale behind her organic kind of I just woke up and out came this voice and technique pr.
Similarly with the Masterworks deal, I recall Lisa saying the deal was for multiple albums up until shes 18. Different from the one off deal pr that was brought up by her publicist in Page Six.

Based on that and seeing that she is now 18, will this be her last record with Sony Masterworks!? Will she go the independent root now?

Jackie's music teacher for AGT was Yvie Burnette, who was hired by Simon Cowell to help all of his Got Talent contestants on both sides of the Atlantic at that time. Columbia or David Foster kept Yvie on to help Jackie further during the production of her first studio album, which was given the "platinum "treatment. Unfortunately, it did not make platinum sales which diminished Jackie's standing with Columbia. As far as we know, that was the end of Jackie's association with Yvie.

However, please note that your quote attributed to me above is mistaken. That statement was made by Julia Trenholm, which I had quoted earlier in a reply to her.

I hope, Jackie didn't catch a cold. I was actually a little more concerned by her walking alone after dark by the Brooklyn Bridge.
