Rick: I didn't get a song list (doubtless someone will), and missed whatever was before the medley (which was prior to the first instrumental break in the first half); I was running late thanks to late start plus rain that made it impossible to make up lost time on the road. But she did sing Vincent; I think you like that one? And the full Somewhere Over the Rainbow, including the rare intro (the part she did on the Oprah farewell). And Imaginer, Safe and Sound, All of the Stars, MOTN, How Great Thou Art, Set Me Free (from "Troy"), The Impossible Dream (those are just what I remember at the moment, in no particular order). Encore was Nessun Dorma. Couldn't see the balcony, but the main floor was just about full. Crowd was enthusiastic if not much of the exercise of a lot of standing. :-) Definitely first-timers there, some that had followed her for a long time, just hadn't had the chance to see her before. Asked one mom(?) with a couple of teenage girls in tow how the young 'uns liked it; she said they definitely did. She was fully on form singing, and continues to get more comfortable with the between-song patter. rlhamil: Thanks for the brief review!
I watched the clip a few times and cannot ascertain other instruments other than Peter's piano! Were there other musician's present? ABTW: As she has aged, her voice on the clip has, if it's possible, taken on a more deeper, pleasant, mature quality that I haven't heard before. One of these days.....

OK! I can see in one of Len's photo's, musicians practicing in the background. My assumption will be a String Octet (4 Violins, 2 Violas, 2 Cellos). Do I have it right?

My assumption will be a String Octet (4 Violins, 2 Violas, 2 Cellos). Do I have it right? The number is right, and there were two cellos and at least four violins. It's probable that the other two were violas, but the size difference isn't so glaring that I'd notice unless I was specifically thinking about it and looking for it (although they were clearly playing a different part).

Review from Len: www.facebook.com/groups/160024457441608/permalink/1805753222868715/Len Rausch to America's Sweetheart Jackie Evancho 17 hrs 11/02/18 Uniontown, PA Concert Review Adding to last night’s original post, here are a few additional comments and photos from Jackie’s phenomenal Uniontown, PA performance. We’re all set to enjoy another amazing evening with Jackie, in concert at the State Theatre, Uniontown, PA. Full house! The State Theatre The State Theatre Center for the Arts originally opened in 1922 as a “picture palace” and a vaudeville house. Designed by theatre architect, Thomas Lamb, this beautiful and historic venue has served the community as a performing arts center for over 25 years. In 1989 a group of business leaders and townspeople formed the Greater Uniontown Heritage Consortium and purchased the building to create an arts center in downtown Uniontown. Since then the theatre has presented 26 seasons of events; and now the name “Jackie Evancho” can be added to that wonderful list of amazing talents. ** On a personal note, during my freshman year as an engineering student at the local Penn State University Fayette campus, the State Theatre was a regular destination for me and my fellow students, so this was most definitely a nostalgic return visit with Jackie! 😀 - Dresses: > 1st set - A dazzling gold, full length gown, which always generates "ooh's" and "awes” from the audience. Jackie had been wearing this dress during the 2nd set during her most recent concerts. > 2nd set - A dazzling gold, knee length gown. Also “awe inspiring”! - Attendance: > ~ 95+% of capacity on the floor level. Attendance at the balcony level was not very visible. - Jackie’s ‘between songs’ monologues continue to be highly entertaining and informative, with many references to her personal experiences during the development and recording of each piece. Jackie has a very natural way of bringing the audience into her world. - One audience member (Full disclosure: my sister!), stated that Jackie makes her feel relaxed and feeling good all over; she could just get lost in her beautiful voice forever! - Of special note, Jackie, once again, provided touching dedications of "The Impossible Dream" to her Mom and "How Great Thou Art" to her Great Grandmother. You could literally hear a pin drop during each one. 1st Set Song List: - Lovers - The Way We Were - Think of Me - Medley > O Mio Babbino Caro > Con te partiro > Somewhere > When You Wish Upon a Star > The Prayer - Peter Kiesewalter Orchestral piece: > Overture from Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" - Imaginer - All of the Stars - The Impossible Dream (A huge SO at the end of the 1st set) 2nd Set Song List: - Set Me Free - Safe and Sound - Somewhere Over the Rainbow - Your Love - Peter Kiesewalter Orchestral piece: > Interlude from Bizet's "Carmen" - How Great Thou Art (SO) - Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again - Starry Starry Night (Vincent) - Music of the Night (SO) Encore: - Nessun Dorma (SO)
