Here is the lineup:
Sept. 15: Lonesome Traveler. The Concert. A concert version of the Off-Broadway musical that tells the story of American folk music from Woodie Guthrie to Bob Dylan.
Oct. 11: Catapult. This act, which appeaered on “America’s Got Talent,” makes amazing moving shapes and figures with their bodies as silhouettes behind a screen.
Nov. 17: The Midtown Men. Four stars from the original Broadway cast of “Jersey Boys” sing vocal hits of the 1960s.
Dec. 12: Christmas with Jackie Evancho. This young singer, 18, dazzled the world when she appeared on “America’s Got Talent” at age 10.
April 27: What Would Petula Do? A tribute to Petula Clark by Maxine Linehan.
A separate performance for children, “Diary of a Worm, a Spider and a Fly,” will take place May 20, 2019 (all seats $12).
Since she first dazzled American television audiences at the age of 10 – gaining global recognition with her stunning debut on NBC’s America’s Got Talent – Jackie Evancho has released a string of platinum and gold albums and made history as the youngest solo platinum artist and the youngest person to give a solo concert at New York’s Lincoln Center. Jackie Evancho sang for Pope Francis I during his US visit and, a few years before, performed at the lighting of the National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C., where she sang for – and delighted – President Barack Obama and his family. Two months later, she was again invited to perform for the President and Congressional leaders during the National Prayer Breakfast. A worldwide sensation when she was only ten years old, Jackie Evancho is now 18 years old and moving past the exuberant promise of a child prodigy vocalist, toward maturity as a singer, as a creative artist and as a young woman. Jackie will perform a collection of heart-warming, beloved classic Christmas and popular holiday songs that have a fresh new take with her amazing angelic voice.
Orr Auditorium, a proscenium theatre/recital hall opened in 1962, is the only facility of its kind on campus. It is a multi-purpose space that is heavily booked by a variety of users throughout the college's academic year. Within the limits of its size and equipment, the 1728-seat hall is suitable for recitals, concerts, plays, lectures, conferences, films and commencement or award ceremonies. Orr Auditorium is an extension of the college's School of Music, home to the Westminster College Celebrity Series and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra concert series and utilized by many of the college's departments.
Taken the plunge! 10,130 miles from home to New Wilmington. 2 tickets purchased (myself and the Wombatdaughter) Flight Sydney to SFO Train SFO to Pittsburgh.(then on to New York-then Ontario) Accomodation in Cranberry-great name for a town at Christmas.
The lovely lady in Box office said Jackie would be performing with an Orchestra-That will be a bonus if correct! Now hoping for good health(Jackie) and decent weather.

Taking the plunge is right! I'm just now getting around to reading this thread again since I determined early on that I couldn't make a Wednesday concert.
So you and Wombat daughter will take the train across the U.S.??!! Our rail system is thoroughly up to date. Roughly 1955 technology.
I have to ask why such an epic trip for one Christmas concert? Visiting relatives in Ontario?
In mid March next year there will be four Jackie concerts closely clustered in Florida. That's where/when I would have traveled across the globe for Jackie.
Any Jackie concert is a fabulous experience. You two will be mesmerized.
We're all with you in your hopes for good health (Jackie) and weather. I'll add good health to wombat dad and daughter and safe travels.

Agog,
Thank you for your kind thoughts.
Why such a long trip for one concert? 1) Timing. Summer holidays in Australia- long school break.
2) I love Jackie's Christmas music. She is made for Christmas!
3) My late wife was Canadian, Wombatdaughter (who is 8 mths older than Jackie) and I spent 10 years living in SW Ontario. While there she is looking into attending Mc Master Uni in Hamilton,On -just as her Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother did.....and she loves to skate!
4) The village we lived in invited us back for Christmas.
5) Snow!! Christmas is much better at 20deg F than 110!
As to the Train- I have travelled on Amtrak many times, and as long as you are not in a hurry I find it a great way to see the U.S. and talk to Americans (no politics!) -somewhat like a cruise without the ocean.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to wish you and all on this forum a Happy Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year. (And Rick, Thanks for making this forum possible.)

lawrence: Why are you not an active member on this forum, johnny? Have nothing positive to add to the conversation, nothing in the interest of promoting Jackie?

rickolsen: I hope everyone is well. I made it down the basement stairs and put 5 pairs of jeans in the washer. I have to go down 2 more times. I hope I make it.

rickolsen: Hope everyone is well. There are 4 steps from my kitchen to my breezeway and no light in the breezeway. I missed a step and fell down. Took awhile to get up, but I'm okay. Scraped my right arm and it's still bleeding.

lawrence: rickallanolsen has taken to disparaging Jackie on her YouTube videos......"Smoking Gun" and her recent upload of Set Me Free. What's up with that, Rick?

rickolsen: If my comments were disparaging I apologize. To me her classical crossover voice was much better than her pop voice and so were the songs. Beginning with her album The Debut when she switched to pop I haven't purchased anything she's put out.

lawrence: A disparaging comment by rickallanolsen on Jackie's recent upload of her China performance of Set Me Free, "Jackie's music went to hell when she stopped singing Classical Crossover. That's just a fact." Hope you will cease this kind of commentary on YT.
