From Wiki, Amira is now 14 and she is clearly studying operatic technique. You can almost see her thinking about physically shaping her vocal chords for each note. She's not trying to be a pop singer. And it will be at least 10 more years before she begins to come into her mature voice. Someone mentioned Janeckova, another young classical singer, who was about 18 before she could relax enough to act the song. Which all opera divas have to do. It's just musical theater without amplification, after all. Julia,
I'm well aware of Amira's study in operatic technique. You seem to suppose that Amira doesn't appeal to me because "she's not trying to be a pop singer". Of course, that has nothing to do with my lack of enthusiasm for her. Ave Maria is not a pop song, and I don't expect any vocalist of any age to perform it sounding like a pop singer. I just prefer to be enchanted by the voice. I'm not enchanted by hers. I'll listen to her again in ten years....maybe.
I would say her voice is definitely improving, however, she just doesn't wow me. I'm just not an opera fan.

LOL, exactly. I like the kid personally. As I may have said before, I think she is the epitome of the All-American girl, Dutch edition. So I wish her well. But I doubt many of us will still be around to learn if any of these kids become real stars. In some cases, that may take 20 years.

Thanks for your response Julia,
I like Amira. She's a delightful young lady, and I have always wished the best for her, and without criticism or judgment. As a music student myself, I respect, understand, and appreciate the work and dedication required to create the operatic voice. I think Amira has the talent and seeming devotion to become very accomplished in the years it will take. You may assume, however, that I am not enamored with the trained "operatic voice", regardless of age, gender or reputation.

Go to the 4:40 sec point in the video, the host asks her who she would like to sing with. π

I don't think that she is actually talking fast. Languages which one does not understand always sound like that are spoken fast. I think that is because your brain is trying to parse what she is saying and can't. She certainly didn't say Jackie Evancho any faster than anyone else would.
