Can Jackie like her sister Juliet transition from classic to pop music yet retain the best of both?
Here is an example of a Spanish Pop Diva stepping into a more classical setting by doing a duet with Andrea Bocelli.

Of course a comparison is needed so here is a piece that she did in her home country --- Spain--- but became very big in Mexico and all Spanish speaking South American countries.

She then broadened her genre type music with a Caribbean flavour, which makes me believe that Jackie is versatile enough to not abandon what she already does well but expand to what she is capable of doing and being happy with herself in taking that bold step. Like a sheep dog she will herd in the lost crowd seeking that sound, that truth they have been missing in their lives.

Jackie sang Country ( Nashville ) and pop ( Album ) before Classical

The bigger question is: Can she sell it?
Of course Jackie can sing some pop songs, she proved it with songs like Go Time and Apocalypse.
I'm not a fan of her original songs on Two Hearts, they are OK, but neither really good pop songs, nor really good classical.
Her rendition of Have you Ever Been In Love was really good, but it didn't get any promotion that I saw or heard.
I wonder if she will ever get a team around her that does a better job of promotion than her current team. I know she said her career is a family business and it's hard to fire family.

btc.......what you state is very valid and the only answer that I could put forward is that she is still only 17, living at home and attending to her education. At this point I look at her career as being a part time activity but with seriousness. When she is free to commit most of her time to her career then she will have the time and drive to develop her creative skills and ability. I really think that the best is yet to come and that she is still in the experimental phase of her development.
There also are too many distractions in her life and career must take a backseat for some things to be worked out.
My thoughts only and I'm sure there are other factors that could be added. She has lots of time ahead of her and many of us perhaps have not so much. Impatience is a major stress factor for a lot of us elderly fans.

"Can Jackie like her sister Juliet transition from classic to pop music yet retain the best of both?..." Gordie
Not sure I understand you there. Can you elaborate?
If Jackie wants to further her career she needs to hire Foster. I believe he's the only producer who can give her the songs she needs to become a superstar.
For instance, imho there is only one song on Two Hearts that could be a Grammy nominee and that's 'Have You Ever Been In Love'. That song really touched me with its emotion. She needs more like that, though more in the CC vein.

Thxs Cat......now we have some value discussion.
I personally believe that Jackie has the skills to successfully transition from classic to pop and excel in both. I also believe that this would not be a one-way transition.......with practise she will be able to slide from one to the other as and when needed. Cast aside any doubts you may have in Jackie's ability to accomplish what she sees as a challenge. She may see a wall blocking her path....she may choose to go around, over or under it.....or...simply ask the bulldozer driver to make a door for her....but she will find herself on the other side without receiving any abrasion.
What we have heard so far is a proclamation that we ain't heard nothing yet. The best is yet to come. What she needs from fans is encouragement NOT advice.

Well you put Juliet in that sentence which is why I didn't understand it. But allow me to expand upon it if you will. I found it very curious that in the Growing Up Evancho Special, Juliet said she "always wanted to be a singer". But before that she said she was too nervous to sing in public after Jackie brought her(as Jacob) onstage to sing a duet with her. Two years later he sang with her on her second PBS Special in LA and that's the last we've heard of Juliet singing. Makes me wonder if last night's Evancho episode was scripted...

Good catch re Juliet wanting a singing career yet when given the opportunity in the PBS LA special she clearly was not a comfortable person to appear on stage....and quite frankly Juliet just does not have Jackie's talent. If Juliet was truly serious about a singing career I have no doubt that Jackie would have assisted her in any way she could. Now Racheal has indicated that she is interested in singing and that Jackie will be doing something to assist with that come this September. I have not heard Racheal sing .....but I fear her talent will likely be on par with Juliet's. However Jackie will stay true with her often stated mantra to be true to yourself and do not give up.
Your wondering "was last night's Evancho episode scripted" ...... I believe I share the same feeling that it sure seemed possible.

Racheal has the chance to be a star , don't assume or put her down , her voice will not be like Juliet , i enjoyed Jacob singing with Jackie and was hoping for all the children as a four-some singing as a family

That was the most surprising and confusing aspect of the show for me, too. I thought Juliet had her chance, and made her choice years ago when she duetted on CD and in concert, and no more. Now this jealousy is made such a big deal of. Maybe it's just that she can't stop emotion even though the choice was made- or maybe she was influenced at the time by being pi$$ed off from the haircut backstage incident, or maybe now TLC played it up for the sake of drama. But Jackie and the others seem to be endorsing the show, so without any hint to the contrary, it seems I have to take it that the real dynamics of the family are being presented.

I think she has a once-in-a-millennium gift in the particular style of singing she started with. Whether it's Nessun Dorma or songs which were pop songs, like Arms of An Angel, that style is where she is extraordinary (and has been extraordinary since she was 10). For "pop" music I don't think the style on Two Hearts' CD2 suits her voice at all, and wasn't good as pop music. Most pop music is bad singing, but energetic with a beat. Her gift is too good for that and it's unfortunate that there isn't a bigger market for it.
She also seems to be an introverted singer, who connects more with the music rather than the audience. So she often sings with her eyes closed, and particularly the younger the Jackie made quite expressive arm gestures while singing with her eyes closed. That's an introverted style which connects with the meaning of a song, and can produce a strong emotional effect. It's quite different from the extraverted style that pop music is, which emphasizes connecting with and entertaining an audience. I think other kinds of personalities are more naturally suited to that, and if Jackie stuck with what she's good at and worked with talented classical composers she would eventually produce new music that would be noticed more widely.

I agree with your post in general, particularly Jackie's introverted style and connecting with the meaning of the song. I tend to think Jackie's objective with her "pop" songs was more about her message than an attempt to create a pop style. She had to create, with the help of her co-writers, a presentation for the songs that would express her meaning and the emotion she felt about the subject of each, poetry put to music if you will, that could not be appropriately portrayed in her classical style. Taken for what they were in that regard, I think it was a successful attempt with her ability to adapt her voice to the character and emotion of each song.
