In the preview clip it shows the Evancho kids at the Benedum in Pittsburgh before Jackie's concert. I sat just to the left of where Zach is, during the concert. I guess while we were having dinner at Braddock's the E-kids' drama was playing out. I'm guessing none of us fans will be shown on the TV show. I don't remember seeing cameras and no one came by and asked us to sign release forms. I had to do that recently when I went to get a sandwich around the corner from my work. They were filming when I was ordering. You just agree that you're not going to ask for money. Well, I guess I should have looked on something larger than my phone before I made any assumptions. It wasn't the Benedum. The seats are different. It was Carnegie Mellon. I wish they could have let us know on the show what they were all doing there.

OK, I finally watched the whole thing. I liked it better than I thought I would. It was OK for just a one-off feature. I think more episodes would just be more of the same. I'd be happy for the E's, though, if it became a series, since that's what they want.
I'm with Mike -- I couldn't stand having those cats on the counter. I'm allergic to cats, anyway. I wouldn't be able to visit with the Evanchos at their house without getting really itchy eyes. I would tear up and not in a good Jackie Effect manner. If they want to invite me to hang out by the pool, though, I'm game. I thought Deven came across as the most sympathetic figure. Seems like a great guy. A fan told me about a brief encounter with Juliet and Deven at the Pittsburgh concert and said he seems like a "fine, fine lad" and "a keeper". Obviously, Juliet feels that way. But I'm with Mike here, too. Slow down, kids! My advice to Juliet would be, if you're going to move out, make sure that you are never moving back. Sadly, I did that. Pure hell. OMG, Jackie seemed to relish being a tattle-tale. My little brother used to pull that stuff, enjoyed ratting me out to our mom. I'm glad I visited Pittsburgh last March for Jackie's concert there. As a Jackie fan, visiting Pittsburgh is like a Beatles fan visiting Liverpool. So, it was cool seeing places I'd been to. Some strained relationships between Juliet and Mike and also Juliet and Jackie, but these are good people that love one another. All of them have enough empathy for others to work things out and not let hurt feelings get the better of them.

I just posted this comment at the TLC site.
Watched the show Growing Up Evancho. It should have been called The Juliet Evancho Transgender Show. Jackie should have been the star. There are many things you could do with this show if you focused on Jackie and her career. That's what her fans want. Give it some thought.

The TLC special portrayed Jackie as an immature ditzy girl who is stuck up and completely dominated by her mommy and older sister. It would not endear her to people and potential fans. There was almost nothing about her music. I think it is great for her if they don't make anymore. Where do you get "stuck up"? and "dominated". Is Jackie "dominated" because she finally decides to meet with Casey? Anything else? To tell the truth, though, the more times I watch it, the less I like it. Though it's kinda fun to see Jackie and the others in an approximation of ordinary day-to-day, the conversations are cut up, you only get bits and snatches. Very little carrying through of a conversation for any length of time. All we learn of Devon and Juliet's program for the future is, Devon can afford $900 a month rent. Does Juliet have any career irons in the fire? It seems that would have been part of that conversation. Jackie with her agonizing over the meeting, hardly comes across as the fearless campaigner and supporter of Juliet. Maybe that was to moderate the poison that meeting with a Democrat would be for some people. And the meeting was pretty substanceless, the Senator basically says, I can't do squat, and then encourages them to keep it up, whatever he sees them as doing. If the Senator initiated the meeting, I wonder what his purpose was. Maybe some reporter will ask him, now that it's been publicized. The image many have had of Jackie as the Happy Songbird takes damage. Rather, she is seen, as others feared, oppressed by responsibility, except when actually on stage. I have no idea how much of it is as Jackie and the E's want to be shown, and how much is as the producers think will satisfy their audience. Nor can I judge how effective it will be in that regard. I've had shown me many times, I have no idea what will please the general public. Maybe Jackie as sufferer of worry and conflict will make people sympathize with her. It's certainly a different tack than she's been on up to now. However all that may be, they seem anxious for more episodes. Unable to judge myself whether that would be good for Jackie, I hope they get what they want.

I feel sorry for Juliet, seems not much going on in the brain department when her biggest goal in life is to be on the cover of some magazine.🙁 Seems rather unfair to say. Among her goals that we know of are to change federal law, and secure a life partner. And, AFAIK, being on the cover of magazines can pay pretty well.

The empty auditorium offers a different visual background. Don't know why else they would all come with to Jackie's rehearsal. For that matter, why is Jackie there? Presumably, for more than just to sing a few scales, which she could do at home. Who's the man at the piano? Maybe some kind of voice teacher or consultant?

I agree, a few of the scenes appeared to be staged for the show specifically to me. While Jackie may rehearse at a local venue from time to time, I would doubt that all her siblings attend the rehearsals and suspect that more likely none of them attend.

I suspect they are paying a faculty member of the university to be a voice coach. We don't know how many attend her rehearsals and/or singing exercises so any speculation is just that, speculation. Oh come on now Bussy, you darn well know that whole show was scripted to a point.

There was almost nothing about her music. I think it is great for her if they don't make anymore. Agree. I hope that was it and no series. No doubt it was made for the reason to promote transgenderism since it came on after the show Jazz. There's a reason why I never watch TLC and The Evancho special confirmed it for me. It would have been nice if they spent some time showcasing Jackie's music rather than Jacob and his boyfriend. About 25 minutes into the show it confirmed what I always thought drove Jacob into wanting to be a female and that being jealous of Jackie. It was probably so difficult for him growing up in the Evancho family with all the attention on Jackie. Poor kid never had a chance. Ever thing was centered on Jackie. Jackie, Jackie, Jackie! If Jackie never made onto the AGT show and was never discovered, would there have ever been an Juliet? I say no! I predict they will grow more apart when they get older and on their own in life. Hopefully then will Jackie focus on her career. That is if she still has one.I seem to remember either here on on one of the previous forums about an elusive and supposedly now-deleted tape of a very young (8-10 yr. old) JACOB singing on one of David Foster's talent searches. I've never seen it but believe there was verification about its existence. This was a year or so BEFORE Jackie performed with Foster at age nine. Unsurprisingly, Jacob went nowhere with his attempt so it's easy to imagine how he must've felt when his bratty kid sister succeeded where he had failed! Of course he has always been supportive of Jackie and I applaud her loyalty to him - it's just too bad all this foolishness has had to be a blot on and distraction from her otherwise stellar career.
