Peter's piano seems rather intrusive here.

Peter's piano seems rather intrusive here. Sure was, house mix is definitely off, way too much piano, I just as soon do away with the piano, a cappella would have been glorious.

Not "Peter's Piano" its the mixing desk at the recorded location. Might have been fine around other locations in the theatre. Best if sound is captured off the desk, there is plenty of free software to mux audio and video. mux (sic) ....multiplexing

More importantly its interesting to see how Jackie's voice stacks up against Karen's. This is yet a different voice and style to her other pop offerings. Keeping in mind that Jackie's voice is still developing and this was live and not a studio recording, this shows much promise. This makes me excited to follow her through this period in her career to see what else she comes up with and where she settles. She certainly is a unique talent that can attack several different genres and can no longer be criticised for every song sound the same.

For all the admiration we have for Jackie, as I do also, this was, also, how bad I had it for the Carpenters (Karen). The summer and fall of 1970 was going into my Junior year of college. I was in the band so a lot of my friends were music majors. All they were talking about was 'Close To You' and this girl that could really sing. I hadn't paid to much attention. Then 'We've Only Just Begun' came out in September. Two back to back million sellers. Then the Christmas song later that year. As many members here are not pop fans, back then my friends were the same. But they could not deny her voice. She became very personal to me. Karen was born three weeks after me and died less than a week before my birthday. I played at least two or three Carpenter song at weddings. I have several CD's and have the same problem deciding what is my favorite. As with Jackie, my favorite song is always the one I just heard or the next one. We were called crass the other day talking about body parts. In the shoutbox a comment was made about Jackie's face looking fuller or so. This is exactly how it started with Karen. So, let's love Jackie and pray for all those demons be damned.

I posted a video of that scene, but deleted it soon after because I thought it might have appeared to mock you, which of course was not my intent. Yes, that was my reference. No worries, I loved the scene too! Apparently, Franz Joseph really did say that ( www.theguardian.com/music/2004/jun/04/classicalmusicandopera ) . Mozart thought it was asinine, but I bet if he were playing accompaniment for Jackie, he would show restraint.

Plus some commentary from Jackie: Jackie's tone seems not humanly possible. It's not just the mic. It's her incomparable voice.

Plus some commentary from Jackie: This could just as easily be in the Doesn't Get Any Better thread.

Actually I was thinking I had misplaced it under We've Only Just Begun, it should be in the AOTS thread or the Carmel, IN thread, which I guess was what I saw in my hurry to post it. Maybe the ADMIN can move it, or combine this with the Carmel thread, though WOJB might deserve its own thread since it's rare.

I believe we should leave it here.......there is nothing wrong with the music and we really need an excuse to criticize schrodinger even if it's only about his uncertainty as to where to put this.
