Finally catching up on reviews of a few of Jackie's recent West Coast concerts! 😀
Jackie's 06/02/18 Bremerton, WA concert!
Jackie opened her West Coast concert tour at the Admiral Theatre in Bremerton, WA with an absolutely brilliant performance before a sold-out house of 800 adoring fans. The Admiral was built in 1942, as a typical movie house, was renovated in 1997, and now serves as a dinner theatre type of venue, hosting a variety of top performances throughout the year. The main floor is comprised of 4 seat dinner tables, while the loge is standard seating. Jackie remarked that it was quite a different experience to walk out onto the stage and to see individual tables instead of rows of seats before her. With a seat at the second table back, center stage, I was blessed to be in a prime location to enjoy the concert.
Following the recent full orchestra accompaniment at Dayton, this concert returned to the format of music director Peter Kiesewalter at the piano, along with 8 strings composed of 4 violins, 2 violas and 2 cellos. The acoustics and the stage lighting were both excellent, with a nice added feature of special lighting emanating from the edge of piano, which radiateded across the rear of the stage. It was especially effective when this light turned into a strobe during portions of Peter's orchestral interludes.
A few additional comments and observations:
- Jackie confirmed that she is currently working on a new album. No expected release date was given.
- Dresses:
> 1st set - Basic black, full length gown w/ red floral pattern.
> 2nd set - Dazzling gold, full length gown, which brought out the usual "ooh's" and "awes'!
- Jackie provided touching dedications of "Starry Starry Night" to her Mom and "How Great Thou Art" to her Great Grandmother.
- A few of those sharing my table were Jackie concert newbies, and spent most of the concert wiping tears from their eyes. (We've all been there, right?)
