Attessa, the most operatic of Two Hearts, is the song I have been mostly eagerly waiting for, and I have not been disappointed. Not only is her singing stunning but the filming was outstanding. I particularly like the way the camera lingered on her just after she completed singing.

I agree it is a most wonderful dress, and my 2 year old granddaughter likes to see her in a long dress, but, perhaps, we are compensated, at least in part, by the great closeups of Jackie. The closeups are the best I have seen in her videos. Sony has done an outstanding job with both Caruso and Attessa.

The more I watch and listen to Attesa the more I'm really starting to love this new song. Rick Olsen, what do you think?

IIRC, Attesa is the fourth operatic aria which Jackie has sung. As I was listening to it about 20 times today, it made me think of my mother who passed away about 11 years ago, and I wondered what she would say about me doing this. She was always trying to get me interested in listening to operatic and other classical music, but I just could not stand the sound of it which affected me like fingernails on a chalkboard. To be honest, I still can’t stand most of it, but Jackie does not fit that stereotype at all. One anecdote which I think I once posted on Amazon. My mother and my aunt once took me to the Metropolitan Opera in NYC for a Sunday matinee performance. For the life of me and can’t remember when it was, but I would guess about 1980. I couldn’t stand it. At the end they asked my opinion – my reply was that I really would rather have stayed home and watched the Giants’ football game. I said this in a rather loud voice which caused stares from several other people getting up to leave. BTW, I suspect that my aunt’s opinion of Jackie would have been like Cabbagejuice’s.

Re this thread. Isn't it Attesa rather than Atessa?
Edit: it's fixed.

Edit: it's fixed. I'm sorry about that, looks like the fox news link spelled it wrong.

Wow, Jackie's rendition of Attesa was stunning! In my honest opinion, it is even better than Sarah Brightman's rendition. It clearly shows that classical crossover is the way forward for her, it is where she can truly excel and stand out.

Just listened to the full versions of Sane, Pedestal, The Haunting and Wonderland and I am not exactly impressed. I have to agree with Rick the singer in these songs doesn't sound like Jackie at all. It hurts me to say this, but these songs did annoy me.

It hurts me to say this, but these songs did annoy me. Maybe the way to look at it is that Jackie is emphatically throwing off the sweet little girl with the big voice image she had. She's showing us some of the very dark thoughts behind the perfect-looking exterior. At least she's not pulling a Miley Cyrus to change her image. Maybe that's a low bar, but it seems to apply IYAM. She may take time, & I mean years, to truly find her voice if she wants to keep being a songwriter.

I have not heard the CD yet, so I am not passing judgement. However, Attesa and Caruso alone have me excited. Now as far as there being no market for CC, I just wanna say that some markets are automatic but some have to be built. IMO, Jackie should definitely continue with CC. It's what got her here. Her looks, personality, song choice and singing are key. Of those, song choice may be her biggest challenge. Her taste, fans and collaborators will help her. IMO And about her songwriting, is it possible that her songwriting is part of the contract with Sony?

It appears to me that only one of the birthmarks (if that is what they are) on Jackie's neck is visible in this video. If they were covered with makeup, I wonder why one was left.

Jackie's voice on Attesa is beautiful. I just don't like the song. It reminds me of Vocalise another song I don't like. With so many beautiful songs like Think About Me, Desperado, and Vincent I have to wonder why they chose boring songs like Mama, The Way We Were, and Coming Home. There is another classical voice song on Two Hearts. Caruso. I don't like it. We don't have Con Te Partiro on an album. It would have been a much better choice.

Rick, We agree that Jackie's voice in Attesa is beautiful. I am curious about what do you mean by "song"? Vocalise, of course, has no words, so I would not even call it song. I don't understand the words to Attesa because I don't speak the language, so unless the words said something that I was very opposed to, I would not care.
