Hey, everyone!
I was just wondering how you all found out about Jackie. I found out about her years ago when she was first on America's Got Talent, as I think I said in my introduction thread. I have since bought her rendition of Pie Jesu on iTunes and have been listening to it ever since. She has a gorgeous voice and an amazing vocal range!

A friend in Pennsylvania kept talking about her and sending me links to her videos. I used to access my email at work back then, so played the vids at very low volume and just for a few seconds. I wasn't interested. Then one evening I was checking out what was on TV and saw DWMIC listed and decided to check it out. I was stunned. By the time she ended it with Nessun Dorma, I was hooked.

I discovered her on AGT on 2010 Aug 10th when she appeared the 1st time. My wife called from the other room & said I should listen to this little girl sing. I went to YouTube to find everything she had there & discovered the Highmark concert from 2009 Dec 17th, which made me an instant fan. I wanted to buy PTAD that night but was too tired & waited till the next AM. Amzn had only downloads, but I bought it. Later I found out CD Baby still had discs on Aug 11th.

In about 2011 I Googled the name of one of my nieces which resulted entirely in links about Emily Bear because their names are very similar. Listening to some of EB's videos on YouTube resulted in suggestions to listen to Jackie which I did.

In the late fall of 2009 after my wife had passed away from cancer, my mother who had come for a visit and i were surfing music on youtube when we found this cute little girl singing lean on me. We pursued it and found more videos by Jackie. We also found one that wanted us to vote for her to get on AGT so we did.We also watched every video we could find on youtube that day. Months later she appeared on AGT and the rest is history. I have been to at least one of her concerts each year since. When my mother passed away in 2014 she had every bit of music that Jackie has ever produced up until that time. Me? I have everything except Prelude to a Dream.

I am a relative late comer. I think I first heard of her, searching for Christmas music vids, but went on. Then I watched the Winter Classic SSB and thought wow and that I recalled the name. During the 2014 Memorial Day performance, I put it all together, watched hours of vids and have been a fan ever since. I have most music on iTunes, a few CDs, 2 DVD performances and Awakening on vinyl. Four concerts and counting...

Stumbled upon this video from the late evening of March 19, 2011, on the classical crossover site in the United Kingdom, and have been an admirer of Miss Evancho ever since: I especially love this one from the same night because it shows Reba McEntire crying:

I've said before here but will repeat briefly that I was home one day when I heard someone singing something classical on daytime TV and looked to find it was ten-year-old Jackie on (I think) Oprah. I'd missed all the AGT performances at the time, but remembered her name when the next June I saw DWM in a local book/CD/DVD store. Two months later on Aug. 31, 2011 I attended her concert in Dallas and haven't stopped since!

We gave her a roaring standing ovation after every song. Jackie was so happy she was double-waving, jumping & spinning on stage. The Meyerson has a balcony behind & on both sides of the performers, so Jackie was acknowledging them. There was a couple behind us who were regular season ticket holders, & they had never seen anything like it. They were stunned, speechless. It was a performance like no other. Papasmurfdad managed to get one song recorded, TLP, & that's apparently the only record from that night. It was the end of her 6-concert mini-tour that summer, & she had it down pat by then. It was the perfect time to see her.

Whenever there is a lack of posts, I like to go back and read old threads just to see what was happening back then. Some have asked to revive the introduce yourself thread. I found this how you found out and thought it could a combo thread. Not only how you found out/who you are, but, also, - "How Jackie Has Ruined Your Life" because -
Examples: I used to like . . . . I used to never . . . . . . I can't believe I . . . . .
Don't make this an OTT or M&G or NEG thing. (Some here isn't for that kind of stuff.) Since school is out this can be your weekend homework without interfering with finals. Make it fun. Remember how we used to have fun years ago?
I'll start first.
As agog must have said at one point, of all the things I miss the most getting old 'I miss my mind the most.' I do not remember the exact time I met Jackie but I remember a family reunion and couldn't stop talking about her and my whole family (50 of us) thought I was nuts for going on about a 12 year old girl. I was an American Idol fan until I got sick of all the screaming. At some point I must have found her on one of the YT side videos. That has 'Ruined' me really liking any new artists. Keep it going.
Edit to Add: Curtis - not OTT - Just a fan Ruined in a good way CL - If PH could have sung, he would be my all time radio personality. Ha
Maybe this can be a chance for former posters to come and get back into this forum. It can be nothing but better with you getting involved. We know you are still out there.

I remember the exact moment when I discovered Jackie. It was on May 20, 2017 while on a return flight from a vacation in Chicago with my family. The plane we were on had the individual displays on the back of each seats and I was looking through the music options they offered trying to find something to listen to. There was nothing that really appealed to me, but I saw an album called Awakening by a beautiful young lady named Jackie Evancho which I had never heard of. I had no idea who Jackie was or what kind of music she sang but it looked interesting, so I hit the play button. From the first note of the first song, I was hopelessly hooked and listed to Jackie for the entire flight back to Los Angeles. From that point my story is much the same as others on this form. When I returned home, I googled Jackie and read every article and watched every video I could find, some of them many times over.
I don’t feel that Jackie has “Ruined” my life in any way, but in fact I believe her music has profoundly improved it. I would never have believed that I would be listening to a 10-year-old girls’ music every day for over two years, but I don’t think a day has gone by since Chicago that I have not listened to Jackie’s music. Before I discovered Jackie, I had never participated in or even looked at an artist’s forum until I found this forum. I don’t think there has been a day I have not checked here in to hear the latest about Jackie.
If anything for me is “Ruined”, like you Wayne, I have not found any new artists since Jackie that I can really appreciate. I can’t even listen to some that I used to because I just can’t help but compare them to Jackie. If this makes me OTT, then so be it!

I had completely forgotten about this thread, the last entry by pgantioch the day after I registered here (April 5th). I had introduced myself on the "Introduce yourself" thread which had pages of introductions. Good old days when new members felt almost obligated to tell of their Jackie experiences and their enthusiasm about joining the forum to make their contributions. I would like to see that revived, so we can get acquainted with new members and learn of their interest in the forum. I vaguely remember having seen a video of Jackie in 2012, while searching for updates of the "The Voice" and "American Idol" which were my interests at the time. I told a good family friend what I had discovered. It was mid December, iirc. A few days before Christmas I received in the mail a small package and a card that read, "I'm sure you will enjoy this". It was the DWMIC dvd/cd set. I was captivated beyond expression. Since then, I have given that friend every one of Jackie's cds as a gift. As Paul Harvey always said in closing, " And now you know the rest of the story". PS Good to hear from you Curtis. Welcome back.

Her original AGT performances were the first I had seen/heard of Jackie.
I was never a fan of classical music, which I know now had much to do with those singing it.
